Chapter 2042: Chapter 1841: No Further Pursuit_3

"Song Yun, let’s go, stay at our Lin Family lodging."

Lin Jun glanced around and extended an invitation to Song Yun.

Obviously, he was helping Song Yun; if Song Yun stayed with the Lin Family, even if Changshan wanted to punish him, they’d have to take the Lin Family into account.

Although the Beidi Three Eagles were killed by Song Yun, Lin Jun had been with him, which made him an accomplice.

So this matter should be considered something done by both Song Yun and Lin Jun.

"All right."

Song Yun nodded, accepted Lin Jun’s good intentions, and walked out of the plaza with him.

The people around had been talking tough, but when they saw the two of them coming, they hurriedly made way, backing off to a distance.

Very soon, Song Yun’s name spread throughout Changshan.

The Beidi Three Eagles weren’t important figures; killing them didn’t count as any great feat, and no one would think of him as some master.

What everyone focused on discussing was Song Yun’s arrogance and overbearing manner.

Some people liked that kind of temperament, some people detested it.

In short, opinions varied in every possible way.

And as for the true experts, when they heard about Song Yun’s affair, they only chuckled blandly and didn’t take it to heart.

Changshan Sect, Tingyu Pavilion.

This was Dongfang Yun’s residence; it wasn’t large, but it was elegantly decorated, its style distinct from the completely archaic structures elsewhere.

Xia Mao, a Changshan disciple who had run over from the plaza, saw the courtyard gate open and rushed in hurriedly.

"Senior Sister Dongfang, that friend of yours killed someone in the plaza and even got into a conflict with the Shen Family—what should we do about this?"

Xia Mao was burning with anxiety. He had received Dongfang Yun’s help many times and was grateful to her, essentially counting as one of her little followers.

So after Song Yun killed someone, he hadn’t reported to the sect first, but came to tell Dongfang Yun, so she could be prepared.

The house was quiet, with no one responding.

Men and women kept their distance; Xia Mao was standing in the courtyard and couldn’t just barge in, so he paced back and forth anxiously, calling, "Senior Sister Dongfang, are you there?"

"All this shouting and racket—what sort of comportment is that?"

A calm voice with a hint of reproach came from the outside corridor.

An old man in a gray Daoist robe, hair tied up in a topknot and a long beard hanging from his chin, walked out.

His face was square and upright, his eyes as still as an ancient well. Within his sternness there was a trace of kindness, yet his aura was like a mountain, unmoving, bearing the weight of a thousand jun.

Invisible pressure seemed to spread out, shrouding the entire courtyard.

Seeing this person, Xia Mao hurriedly bowed and said nervously, "Disciple Xia Mao pays respects to Sect Leader Uncle."

The elder before him was the current Changshan Sect Leader, Huang Jinseng.

Cold sweat broke out on Xia Mao’s forehead. He had never imagined that coming to pass on a warning, he would run into the Sect Leader himself—now he was in for it.

The Changshan Sect Leader Huang Jinseng walked unhurriedly to the center of the courtyard. Looking at Xia Mao, who was bowing with his head lowered, he said in a deep voice, "Xia Mao, you said Ah Yun’s friend killed someone. What exactly happened?"

Facing the Sect Leader, Xia Mao didn’t dare hide anything; he immediately recounted in full detail everything he had just seen and heard.

When Xia Mao finished speaking, Huang Jinseng’s expression remained unchanged, as if he hadn’t heard a word.

The courtyard fell silent. Huang Jinseng said nothing; Xia Mao only felt the pressure mounting, kept his head bowed and didn’t dare make a sound, cold sweat pouring from his forehead.

After a brief silence, Huang Jinseng waved his hand. "Pass the word down: Changshan will not pursue this matter. You may withdraw."

What, not pursue it!

Xia Mao was stunned on the spot, unable to believe his own ears.

This matter concerned Changshan’s face and stance. Even if it had been Lin Jun of the Lin Family who killed someone, the Sect Leader ought to at least demand an explanation.
