Return of the Celestial King
Chapter 483: Worsening Condition
So, Kong Lianqing decided to take a chance and quickly asked:
"Mr. Qin, since you're also skilled in medicine, please come with me to my teacher's home and take a look."
Qin Tuo hesitated upon hearing this.
This wasn't part of his plan at all.
Seeing Qin Tuo's indecisiveness, Kong Lianqing immediately grabbed his hand and said earnestly:
"Mr. Qin, please, you have to help. My teacher's grandson… his condition is just too tragic. If you could really cure him, it would be wonderful!"
Previously, Kong Lianqing would never have believed someone so young could cure such a strange illness.
But now, having witnessed Qin Tuo's miraculous abilities time and again, Kong Lianqing had developed an unparalleled confidence in him.
Nearby, Ouyang Tianqi, also wanting what was best for Qin Tuo and hoping he could get acquainted with a major figure like Hong Yuanzheng, chimed in to persuade him:
"That's right, Mr. Qin. You should go take a look. If you can actually cure him, there's absolutely no downside for you!"
Qin Tuo understood the implication behind those words. After a moment's thought, he nodded.
Upon receiving Qin Tuo's affirmative answer, Kong Lianqing was overjoyed.
He then immediately led Qin Tuo to the Hong Family!
Along the way, Kong Lianqing constantly told Qin Tuo about Hong Yuanzheng's many past achievements and stories.
This gave Qin Tuo a better understanding of just how terrifyingly vast this major figure's network and experience really were.
"Mr. Qin, in a little while, please be extremely careful. If you can't cure him, I won't blame you, but you absolutely must not let my teacher's grandson's condition get any worse!"
The closer Kong Lianqing got to the Hong Family's villa, the more his heart filled with unease.
So, to be on the safe side, he made sure to clearly explain the stakes to Qin Tuo.
Of course, Qin Tuo understood what was on Kong Lianqing's mind. He smiled and said,
"Pavilion Master Kong, rest assured. I never take on anything I'm not confident about."
Seeing Qin Tuo's confidence, Kong Lianqing naturally felt much more at ease.
Soon, the car slowly pulled up to the entrance of the Hong Family's villa.
It was clear that the security at the Hong Family's villa was extremely tight, highlighting Hong Yuanzheng's unparalleled status.
Kong Lianqing immediately explained their purpose to the guards at the gate and introduced Qin Tuo. Only then did the guards allow them to pass.
"Mr. Qin, let's go in and see my teacher!"
Kong Lianqing said with a smile, gesturing for him to enter.
The two walked into the villa's main hall. As soon as they entered, they saw Hong Yuanzheng receiving Wu Qihao and Qi Wuqi.
Those two had just arrived moments before Qin Tuo and Kong Lianqing.
The moment they saw that Qin Tuo was also there, the expressions on Wu Qihao and Qi Wuqi's faces turned to utter astonishment!
Qin Tuo, however, paid them no mind. His attention was drawn to an elderly, white-haired man sitting on the sofa.
Despite his advanced age, his eyes were sharp and full of spirit. He wore a Tang suit and was dressed in a very dapper and dignified manner.
Qin Tuo knew this had to be Kong Lianqing's teacher, a true powerhouse in the Capital City—Hong Yuanzheng.
Hong Yuanzheng's sharp gaze also fell upon Qin Tuo, sizing him up carefully.
He then asked,
"Xiaokong, and who is this young man?"
With a smile, Kong Lianqing earnestly explained,
"Teacher, this is Qin Tuo. He is also skilled in the medical arts. I brought him here specifically to see if he might be able to treat Little Kai."
As soon as he said this, Hong Yuanzheng froze.
It was difficult to reconcile Qin Tuo's youthful appearance with the concept of a master physician.
A sudden burst of scornful laughter came from the nearby sofa. It was Wu Qihao and Qi Wuqi, openly sneering.
Wu Qihao said with a jeer,
"Kid, aren't you a Warlock? Since when do you treat patients? You're not just here to chase clout and grab attention, are you?"
Beside him, Qi Wuqi immediately chimed in,
"Young man, practicing medicine requires experience. How many patients have you even treated? This is Elder Hong's grandson, not some ordinary patient. Stop making a fool of yourself and getting in the way of important matters."
Hearing their targeted remarks, Kong Lianqing's face flushed red, but he was at a loss for words.
After all, he had only brought Qin Tuo here to give it a shot. Now that these two had mercilessly called him out, he didn't know how he could possibly explain himself to his teacher.
Hong Yuanzheng's expression had also clearly soured. He too wondered, 'What kind of illness could someone so young possibly treat?'
However, he could see that Kong Lianqing had acted with the best of intentions, out of concern for his grandson.
Moreover, Kong Lianqing was one of his most prized disciples. For his student's sake, Hong Yuanzheng didn't press the matter.
"In that case, time is of the essence. Please, everyone, come to the bedroom and see my precious grandson!"
Hong Yuanzheng said, his tone laced with worry.
Clearly, his grandson Hong Kai's condition was on the verge of deteriorating further; they absolutely could not delay any longer.
Hearing that Hong Yuanzheng had agreed to let Qin Tuo examine the patient, Qi Wuqi's expression soured, but he couldn't say anything more.
At that moment, he exchanged a look with Wu Qihao…
The meaning was clear: they would seize the first opportunity to kick Qin Tuo while he was down and screw him over.
Qin Tuo ignored the two men's sinister expressions and followed the others into the bedroom.
Everyone entered the room and saw Hong Kai lying on the bed. His condition was dire.
Hong Kai should have been in the prime of his youth, full of vigor. Instead, he now lay in a coma, his hands and feet festering and emitting a foul stench. He was barely breathing.
Seeing his grandson reduced to such a tragic state, even a man as formidable as Hong Yuanzheng was overcome with sorrow and nearly shed tears.
"Gentlemen, if any of you can cure my grandson, I will reward you handsomely!"
Hong Yuanzheng said to them with utmost sincerity.
Everyone's heart jolted. They knew that a promise from a man of his stature was absolutely binding.
Wu Qihao and Qi Wuqi exchanged a glance, and both could see a fanatical gleam in the other's eyes.
They knew this was a golden opportunity. They had to seize this precious moment to get into Hong Yuanzheng's good graces.
Without another word, Qi Wuqi sprang into action.
He seemed to cast some sort of art, causing his eyes to sharpen as he scanned them over Hong Kai's body.
After his examination, a look of surprise flashed in Qi Wuqi's eyes!
From the look on his face, it was clear he had already found his answer.
