Return of the Celestial King

Chapter 449: Funeral

  • Next Chapter

Just as Zeng Changkong had predicted, he passed away three days later.

A heartbroken Zeng Kemeng found Qin Tuo, hoping he could help.

"Mr. Qin, I’m begging you. You’re the only one who can bring my dad back to life."

Zeng Kemeng’s eyes were red and swollen from crying, her face streaked with tears.

Seeing her in this state, however, Qin Tuo could only offer a bitter smile inwardly.

"Miss Zeng, the dead cannot be resurrected. Please, my condolences."

But Zeng Kemeng was convinced that Qin Tuo was an Immortal who had descended from the heavens and could surely save her father’s life.

So, steeling herself, Zeng Kemeng knelt directly before Qin Tuo.

"Mr. Qin, as long as you can revive my father, I’m willing to do anything to repay you!"

Qin Tuo shook his head and helped Zeng Kemeng to her feet.

"Miss Zeng, why must you do this? Mr. Zeng has already passed on. That is something no one can change."

Zeng Kemeng broke down completely, wailing until her throat was nearly raw.

There was nothing Qin Tuo could do. With his current level of cultivation, he was far from capable of reviving the dead.

After what felt like an eternity of tears, Zeng Kemeng’s emotions finally stabilized, and she began to accept the cruel reality of her father’s death.

Qin Tuo sighed, walked over, and took out the physiognomy book that Zeng Changkong had given him.

"Miss Zeng, this is your father’s legacy. The line cannot be broken with you. I am now entrusting it to you."

With that, Qin Tuo solemnly handed the book of physiognomy—the legacy—to Zeng Kemeng.

Zeng Kemeng took the book, a look of surprise in her eyes!

After a closer look, grief welled up inside her once more, and she felt the urge to break down and wail.

Qin Tuo added a serious warning:

"Miss Zeng, you must remember the lesson your father learned. In this life, you must never perform too many acts that defy heaven. Do you understand?"

Zeng Kemeng didn’t speak but nodded lightly, etching Zeng Changkong’s final teachings firmly into her heart.

’Sigh, I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing...’

Qin Tuo thought to himself.

But in Qin Tuo’s view, the physiognomy book belonged to the Zeng Family, so he couldn’t bear to keep it for himself.

Giving the book to Zeng Kemeng was ensuring that the Zeng Family’s legacy could continue.

He just hoped that Zeng Kemeng would be able to control herself!

At the funeral, many prominent figures from all over Kunfeng City came to pay their last respects to Zeng Changkong.

Suddenly, a group of very unusual guests arrived. They were silent as they approached the funeral site and laid flowers on Zeng Changkong’s casket.

"Mr. Qin, look..."

Zhu Zifeng was stunned. It turned out they were several Elders from the Blood Moon Pavilion.

Qin Tuo, of course, had also noticed this, but he simply nodded, not finding it particularly surprising.

Zeng Changkong was the former Pavilion Master of the Blood Moon Pavilion. It was only natural for these senior members of the Pavilion to come and see him off.

The funeral soon ended, and Qin Tuo planned to return to Ming City.

However, after some careful thought, he decided to have Zhu Zifeng stay behind.

"Mr. Qin, why aren’t you letting me go with you?"

Zhu Zifeng’s face was filled with confusion.

Qin Tuo said seriously,

"Zeng Changkong has just died, and many people in Kunfeng City have their eyes on the physiognomy legacy. That makes Miss Zeng extremely vulnerable right now. You should stay here and protect her."

After hearing Qin Tuo’s words, Zhu Zifeng thought for a moment before nodding in agreement.

Qin Tuo added,

"For now, stay in Kunfeng City and help the Zeng Family get through this difficult time. You can return after that. I’m counting on you."

As he spoke, Qin Tuo patted Zhu Zifeng’s shoulder.

Zhu Zifeng nodded and said earnestly,

"Don’t worry, Mr. Qin. I won’t let anything happen to the Zeng Family!"

Qin Tuo knew there was a spark between Zhu Zifeng and Zeng Kemeng, so he trusted that Zhu Zifeng would spare no effort to handle this matter well.

Afterward, Zhu Zifeng booked a first-class plane ticket to Ming City for Qin Tuo.

Qin Tuo then headed to Ming City, boarding the plane alone.

Qin Tuo didn’t let anyone see him off, taking a car to the airport and boarding the plane by himself.

Qin Tuo was now in his first-class seat, but the plane had not yet taken off.

Passengers were gradually finding their seats, and people were constantly moving up and down the aisle.

Qin Tuo, however, was resting with his eyes closed, waiting for takeoff.

Just then, however, a young man in casual clothes with dyed-blond hair approached Qin Tuo’s side.

"Hey, buddy!"

The young man lightly tapped Qin Tuo’s arm.

Qin Tuo frowned slightly and opened his eyes, a questioning look on his face.

The blond-haired youth grinned and asked,

"Buddy, are you flying to Ming City for Xue Qingqing’s concert too?"

Qin Tuo was a little surprised to hear this.

He had no idea that Xue Qingqing was actually holding a concert in Ming City.

Qin Tuo shook his head and said slowly,

"No, I’m just going home."

With that, he paid the young man no more mind.

When the blond-haired youth heard that Qin Tuo’s home was actually in Ming City, a flash of contempt appeared in his eyes, though he hid it well.

The blond-haired youth asked again, this time more tentatively,

"Buddy, are you traveling alone? Flying first class all by yourself... you really know how to live, huh!"

But Qin Tuo just shook his head and said with a smile,

"No, a friend bought the first-class ticket for me."

Hearing this, the blond-haired youth was completely reassured.

He was now certain that Qin Tuo was just an ordinary person.

So the blond-haired youth didn’t hesitate any longer. He spoke up, his tone arrogant.

"In that case, buddy, do me a favor and switch seats with me."

He spoke in a cavalier manner, with a commanding tone that made Qin Tuo feel quite uncomfortable.

This blond-haired youth’s name was Zhao Jun. He had made a special trip to take his girlfriend to Ming City for Xue Qingqing’s concert.

However, his girlfriend hadn’t been able to get a first-class ticket, only one in economy.

Desperate to sit with his girlfriend, Zhao Jun had decided to find someone to switch seats with.

After looking around, he had set his sights on Qin Tuo.

At first, he had cautiously chatted with Qin Tuo, worried that anyone who could afford first class might be some big shot, and it wouldn’t do to offend him.

But upon learning that even Qin Tuo’s first-class seat had been bought by a friend, and that he was from a small place like Ming City, he naturally had nothing more to worry about.

Qin Tuo opened his eyes slightly and said nonchalantly,

"Sorry, not switching."

Having said that, he ignored Zhao Jun completely.
