Return of Black Lotus system:Taming Cheating Male Leads
Chapter 787 --787
Chapter 787: Chapter-787
Heena had barely finished thinking before she turned over and fell asleep again.
And this time, she slept so deeply that even the system’s departure barely registered in her mind.
The little fellow looked at his host one last time before reluctantly leaving for headquarters. He had originally intended to say a few more things, but seeing how quickly Heena had fallen asleep, he decided against disturbing her.
After all, he still remembered the threat of being boiled alive and turned into a roasted kitten.
He wasn’t stupid enough to provoke his host when she was sleeping!
And so, the system left quietly, leaving Heena alone in the house.
Unfortunately, the real trouble began the next morning.
Ren had already gotten up and started his work, but when he noticed that Heena hadn’t come out of her room, he began to wonder what was going on.
At first, he assumed she was simply sleeping a little longer.
However, as time passed and there was still no sign of her, he finally walked to her door and knocked.
"Miss Heena? Are you awake?"
There was no response.
He knocked again.
"Miss Heena?"
Silence.
Ren hesitated before knocking a third time, but the result remained the same.
Just as he was wondering whether he should call her again, Madam Lin arrived.
Seeing him standing outside the room, she frowned.
"What are you doing here?"
"I was calling Heena, but she hasn’t answered."
Madam Lin’s expression immediately darkened.
That girl was still sleeping?
Without bothering to knock, she pushed the door open and stormed inside.
"Is this the time to be sleeping?!" she shouted. "The sun is already up, and you’re still lying in bed! Do you think this is some kind of—"
WHOOSH!
Before Madam Lin could finish speaking, a pillow flew straight toward her face.
She barely managed to stop herself from being hit.
"Get lost!"
The cold, irritated voice came from beneath the blanket.
Madam Lin froze.
Heena hadn’t even bothered to sit up. She was still lying in bed, her hair disheveled, her eyes barely open, and her expression so dark that it looked as though she might murder the next person who dared to disturb her.
For a moment, Madam Lin could only stare.
She had expected Heena to argue with her, perhaps even throw another tantrum.
But this?
The sheer coldness in that single glance made Madam Lin involuntarily shiver.
It was as though she had suddenly walked into a room in the middle of winter.
However, the moment she realized that she had actually been frightened by Heena, her expression twisted with embarrassment and anger.
"Hmph! Fine! Sleep as much as you want!" she snapped, trying to recover her dignity. "Sleep late and wake up late. Ruin your health if that’s what you want! What does it have to do with me?"
With that, she turned around and stormed out of the room.
Ren, who had witnessed the entire scene from the doorway, stood frozen.
He had never seen Heena behave like this before.
Usually, even when she was annoyed, she would at least respond to him. But today, she hadn’t even bothered to look in his direction.
He hesitated, wondering whether he should go inside and check on her.
However, before he could make up his mind, Heena pulled the blanket over her head.
"Close the door!"
Ren immediately obeyed.
The room fell silent once again.
Heena turned onto her side and pressed her pillow against her head, trying to block out the remaining sounds from outside.
Her head was hurting terribly.
And she was sleepy.
So, so sleepy.
It wasn’t that Heena had a habit of sleeping excessively. In fact, she could stay awake for an entire night if necessary and still manage to finish her work.
But she had one particularly terrible habit.
If someone woke her up in the middle of her sleep, even for a single moment, she would have an extremely difficult time falling back into a proper sleeping rhythm.
It was as though her body refused to accept that the interrupted rest was sufficient. Once disturbed, she would feel even sleepier than before, and the more people tried to wake her, the worse her irritation became.
Last night, she had already been exhausted from an entire day of work. Then the system’s emergency alert had dragged her out of sleep in the middle of the night, forcing her to think about the deaths of several systems and the disappearance of their hosts.
Although she had gone back to sleep afterward, her rest had been interrupted.
And now, someone had dared to storm into her room and start shouting at her!
Heena’s head throbbed.
Damn it. I just want to sleep.
She had no intention of getting up, cooking, working, or dealing with anyone today.
If the house caught fire, someone had better put it out themselves.
If the sky fell, they could come and inform her after she had finished sleeping.
For now, she wanted nothing to do with the world.
Heena pulled the blanket tightly around herself, shut her eyes, and sank back into sleep.
Outside, Madam Lin was still muttering angrily about her laziness, while Ren stood nearby, wondering whether he should prepare something for her to eat when she finally woke up.
Neither of them knew that, for the next several hours, waking Heena up again would be the most dangerous thing they could possibly attempt.
.
.
.
Heena finally woke up on her own.
Even then, she felt irritated. Her eyes hurt, her head throbbed, and her entire body felt heavy. Damn it! It seemed she had barely gotten any proper sleep today.
With a frown, she pushed the blanket aside and slowly got out of bed. After washing her face and fixing her clothes, she stepped outside, only to pause when she noticed how dark it was.
Huh? Is it still dawn? Why is it so dark outside?
She glanced around, genuinely confused.
Just then, Madam Lin, who was walking past the room, noticed her and immediately scoffed.
"Oh, my goodness! Look who finally decided to wake up! Why don’t you sleep for a few more hours and wake up tomorrow morning instead?"
Heena paused and looked at her.
"Huh?"
What was that supposed to mean?
It wasn’t her fault! There were no clocks in this place, and without one, how was she supposed to know the time? Judging by the darkness outside, she had genuinely thought it was early morning.
Before she could argue, Ren, who was busy setting the table, glanced over at her.
"It’s already evening, Heena."
She froze.
"Evening?"
Ren nodded. "Yes. You’ve been sleeping the entire day."
Heena stared at him for a moment before slowly raising a hand to her forehead.
Oh, damn it!
She had actually slept through the whole day!
How was that even possible? She had only intended to get a little more rest. Who would have thought she’d wake up to find the entire day gone?
Heena grabbed her head and groaned.
Great. Just great. I’ve somehow managed to waste an entire day sleeping!
Heena walked over to the bucket kept to one side, picked up the mug, and scooped up some water. She had only wiped her face with cold water inside her room, so she decided to wash it properly this time. She splashed water over her face, rubbed her eyes gently, and even washed them to get rid of the lingering sleepiness.
