Chapter 684: Chapter-684

Heena blinked at the screen, tilting her head like a confused, helpless patient. "Oh, is that okay? Or should I need to sign a physical document anywhere?"

"Oh, absolutely not!" the lion beamed, practically vibrating with capitalist joy. "Physical signatures are so outdated! You just need to say ’yes’ when it asks if you want to transfer your money. That will be more than enough."

"Oh, okay," Heena murmured, looking at the glowing interface with a vacant, compliant smile. "Thank you. I will do it."

The System eagerly pushed the blue screen closer to her face. A bright, laser-like grid swept over Heena’s eyes, scanning her identity.

A sterile, robotic voice—entirely different from the System’s current cartoonish tone—chimed loudly in the quiet bedroom:

"BIOMETRIC SCAN COMPLETE. ARE YOU PREFERRING TO TRANSFER ALL OF YOUR ACCUMULATED SYSTEM POINTS TO SYSTEM 247?"The little golden lion looked at Heena, his eyes sparkling with pure, unadulterated greed. "Just say yes, Host! Or just nod your head! Everything is perfectly fine!"

Heena looked at the blinking confirmation prompt.

Then, she looked directly into the System’s big, hopeful, cartoonish eyes.

The fragile, amnesiac innocence completely vanished from her face, instantly replaced by the terrifying, cold-blooded sneer of the Vanguard warlord.

"I don’t," Heena deadpanned. "You damn bastard piece of shit."

The blue confirmation screen instantly shattered into a dozen error pop-ups, flashing red as the transaction was violently denied.

The little golden lion froze, the color completely draining from his pixelated face. His jaw unhinged in absolute horror. "Wait... you... you didn’t lose your memory?!"

Heena violently threw off her heavy silk blankets, sitting up with a sudden, ferocious burst of energy.

"Your mother lost her memory, you scamming bastard!" Heena yelled, grabbing a silk pillow and aggressively hurling it straight at the floating lion. "I might be dying, and my brain might be actively bleeding, but I would absolutely never forget the exact balance of my own bank account!"

Heena threw a vicious punch right at the hovering lion. She only hit air, but the sheer murderous intent was lethal enough to send the System scrambling backward in a panic.

"Sorry, Host! Sorry, sorry!" the little lion shrieked, desperately flying out of her reach.

"Oh, now I’m the Host?" Heena sneered, throwing her legs over the edge of the mattress. "You fucking moron. You were really praying I lost my memory so you could drain my bank account, huh?"

"I was joking! Joking, joking, joking!" the System let out a loud, incredibly fake, high-pitched laugh. "See, I knew from the absolute start that you were just playing a prank on me! So I thought, hey, let’s play along!"

Heena crossed her arms. "Oh, is that so?" She pointed a sharp finger at the glowing blue holographic contract still hovering by the bed. "Then how the hell did this legally binding transfer document magically appear in front of my face?"

The System sweated digital bullets. "Oh! I... I just remembered something!"

"What?" Heena deadpanned. "Your impending death anniversary?"

"Come on, Host, why should we speak about bad things like death?!" the System stammered, hurriedly wiping its furry forehead. "Did you know... did you know the White Lotus Systems were talking about you?! Yeah, yeah, yeah! They were totally making fun of you!"

Heena paused. "Huh?"

"Oh, yeah!" the System nodded frantically, grabbing the distraction with both paws. "They think you’re completely crazy for taking the Black Lotus route! They were gossiping in the server lounge, saying you should be more like their hosts, who just cry a little, act pitiful, and win the world in a month. But here you are, taking so long to conquer everything!"

Heena looked at him, completely unimpressed. "In the last timeline, I stayed for eleven years. They didn’t say a single damn word. I’ve only been in this world for two years, and you’re telling me they’re suddenly gossiping about my pacing?"

"No, no, I mean—" the System backpedaled rapidly, its tail twitching. "They’re saying you’re taking too long to complete the missions! And since you practically robbed the administrators blind, the higher-ups aren’t going to let it go! But! But! I found out some big, big, big news!"

Heena casually reached down to the floorboards. She picked up one of her embroidered silk indoor slippers. It was soft, but in the hands of an angry Asian mother—or a homicidal warlord—it was a weapon of mass destruction. She weighed the footwear in her hand.

"Big news, huh?" Heena asked softly, tapping the slipper against her palm. "How big is it? Is it big enough to convince me not to beat you to death with this shoe right now?"

"The next world!" the System shrieked, throwing its paws over its head to shield its face. "The next world! You have the right to choose the next world!"

Heena stopped. The slipper hovered in mid-air. "Oh, really? And what is it?"

The System peeked out from behind its paws, regaining a tiny shred of its capitalist pride. "Actually, it is a really, really big world. I know we need points desperately right now, so I bypassed the algorithm. I chose that world myself!"

Heena slowly lowered the slipper, her eyes narrowing with absolute, terrifying suspicion.

"You chose it yourself?" Heena scoffed. "Oh, is that so? Then it must be an absolute, unmitigated trainwreck."

She leaned forward, pointing the tip of the slipper directly at his glowing nose.

"And more importantly," Heena demanded, her voice dropping into a lethal whisper, "how the hell did you manage to secure a reservation for our next world when we haven’t even finished the mission in this one?"

"I pulled some strings!" the System squeaked, holding its tiny paws up in surrender. "I pulled a few triggers behind the scenes! It’s networking!"

"Oh, really?" Heena sneered, her grip tightening on the embroidered silk slipper. "We are trapped in this godforsaken world entirely thanks to you, and now you are pulling triggers, huh? You dumb bastard!"

She didn’t hesitate. She raised the slipper and brought it down with the terrifying accuracy of a seasoned warlord.

Whack! Whack!

"Ah! Host! Host, my pixels!" the System shrieked as it darted around the bed, desperately trying to dodge the barrage of footwear.

"Because of you, we are stuck here!" Heena huffed and puffed, her chest heaving as she threw the slipper straight at his glowing head. "Our main mission has been done for ages! If it wasn’t for your damn, big, glitchy mouth, we would have completed this timeline long ago and moved on to a new world. Do you know how much it absolutely sucks to be stuck here?!"

She flopped back onto the mattress, groaning in pure, unadulterated frustration.

"I cannot even go to a brothel!" Heena complained bitterly to the ceiling. "I bind my chest, I change my clothes to dress exactly like a young noble master, and the second I walk through the door of a pleasure house, some bastard squints at me and yells, ’Oh, heavens, it is the Vanguard Mistress!’ Do you know how hard my life is?! I haven’t been able to look at a single, new, beautiful man in months!"

The little golden lion rubbed its bruised digital head, floating a safe distance away from her remaining slipper.
