Resonance System: X Marks The Bond
Chapter 50 Episode 50: HOLY FUCK… R21
Akira’s POV
The apartment was quiet in the way it always was after a gate run, thin walls, the low continuous hum of the city’s residual mana field pressing against the glass, the faint metallic aftertaste of dungeon air still coating the back of my throat.
I stood under the shower longer than the water justified. It ran cooler than I usually preferred. The temperature did nothing to clear the imprint left behind the column.
I kept tasting him. The pressure of his mouth, the controlled heat of it, the way his thumb had rested against the hinge of my jaw as though he were measuring something precise and private.
The cool stone at my back. The solid breadth of him in front of me. The way he had not asked permission. The way I had not stepped away.
I dried off with the same methodical care I used for every post-mission recovery protocols and pulled on the softest shirt I owned, loose cotton that hung off the narrower set of shoulders this body had inherited.
The lights stayed off. The north-facing window let in enough city glow to see the outline of the bed and the small table by the wall. Same insufficient light as the kitchen in the projection. I sat on the edge of the mattress and let the quiet settle.
Thursday, he had said on the street.
I had answered like the word was ordinary. It was not.
I lay down, I closed my eyes and tried the usual sequence, breath count, suppression check, inventory of residual mana from the Winged Lion’s projection. The projection itself had burned out hours earlier.
What remained was not dungeon residue. It was the kiss.
I turned onto my side. The sheets were cool against bare legs. My mind returned, unbidden, to the difference in our builds. Behind the column Kael had blocked the entire view of the chamber.
His shoulders filled the space the way S-rank frames were designed to. Tall, heavily muscled, the kind of physical presence that made ordinary doorways feel narrow and ordinary rooms feel smaller.
This body was not built that way. The previous Akira had been lean, fine-boned, almost delicate across the shoulders and wrists. The face that still startled me in mirrors some mornings carried softer angles, longer lashes, a mouth that looked more like it belonged on a woman than on a registered hunter. The system had never corrected any of it. Neither had I.
And my scent.
I had noticed it in the first week after registration, something faintly sweet that rose from my skin whenever mana ran high or pulse climbed. Peachy.
In the black unicorn chamber it had intensified. Today, with his hand on my jaw and his body close enough that the residual made every point of contact sharply present, it must have been obvious. I remembered the half-second change in his breathing when he first leaned in. Like he had caught the scent and chosen not to speak of it.
Men did not usually produce scents like that. Men did not usually want other men the way Kael’s mouth had wanted mine.
I did not reject the thought. I simply held it in the dark and turned it over with the same careful attention I gave mission data.
The feelings were there. Whether they were genuine or some side-effect of the wish projection or the four months of Thursday proximity or the simple fact of being looked at by someone who never looked away, I could not yet determine.
I only knew I had kissed him back. And that when he stepped away on the street, that ordinary standing distance had felt incorrect.
Thursday was like two days away.
I closed my eyes again and let the memory of his hand on my jaw settle fully. The warmth of the palm. The certainty in the placement. The way he had taken the space without apology or excess.
***
The chamber was empty.
The Winged Lion was gone. The residual glow of the gate’s collapse painted the stone in low amber. Kael stood in front of me the same way he had on the street, only closer.
His hand came up along the familiar path. Palm along my jaw, thumb finding the hinge with deliberate precision. He did not speak. He simply looked at me with the expression that had appeared after the kiss: undefended, already decided.
Then he kissed me again. His mouth opened mine with the same controlled pressure, but the urgency of the dungeon was absent.
What remained was hunger that had been held for a long time. His other hand firmly held my waist, then slid lower, spanning the narrowest part of me with easy strength.
I felt the size of him in the difference, how his palm covered so much of my side, how his body blocked the light completely when he stepped in. The peachy scent rose between us, stronger than before, and I heard the low sound he made when he breathed it in.
He backed me into the column. The stone was cool against my spine. One of his thighs pressed between mine, heavy and deliberate, and the contact sent a clear current through places I usually kept quiet under suppression.
I made a small sound against his mouth which he answered by deepening the kiss, his tongue sliding against mine with focused intent, one hand still cradling my jaw while the other slid under the hem of my shirt and found bare skin.
His palm was large. Warm. Calloused at the base of the fingers from years of weapon work. It mapped the line of my ribs, the soft plane of my stomach, then higher until his thumb brushed the underside of my chest.
I arched without deciding to. The body answered more honestly than the mind. It wanted the weight of him. It wanted to be kept exactly where he placed it.
Kael pulled back just enough to look at me. His eyes were darker than the operational register allowed. The careful management was gone. What remained was pure, focused craving.
"You smell like this every time," he said, voice low and rough at the edges. "Every single time I’m close enough to catch it."
He lowered his head and pressed his face into the side of my neck, breathing in deeply. The peachy scent bloomed stronger under the attention. His mouth opened against the skin there.
I shivered.
His hand at my waist tightened, then moved lower still, cupping the curve of my ass and lifting me slightly so that the thick line of his cock pressed against my hip through the remaining layers.
He was already hard. Fully. The size of him registered immediately. It was heavy, hot and insistent against the leaner frame of my body.
I made another sound. Smaller this time . He answered by grinding against me once yet deliberate, letting me feel exactly how much of him there was and how little space remained between us.
"Been wanting this," he murmured against my throat. His voice dark with desire and lust.
"Longer than the black unicorn. Longer than the stairwell. Every Thursday I watch you hold that suppression and all I can think about is what you’d sound like if I made you stop thinking for a while."
He kissed me again, harder now, less careful. The aggression was controlled but no longer restrained. His hands moved with clear purpose, one still guiding my jaw so he could take my mouth the way he had decided, the other dragging my hips forward so that every shift of his body rubbed that thick heat against me. I clung to his shoulders.
They were broad enough that my hands could not span them. Under the fabric I felt the dense muscle of an S-rank body that could have held me against the column with one arm and registered no effort.
Our clothes disappeared the way practical barriers sometimes did under high emotion and higher mana. Skin against skin. His chest was hot and hard against my softer one.
The peachy scent mixed with the clean, slightly metallic edge of his mana and the warmer, muskier scent of arousal rising between us.
He lifted me properly then, hands under my thighs, and I locked my legs around his waist without conscious decision. The position left me open. Exposed.
His cock slid along the cleft of my ass, thick and already slick, and the pressure of it against my entrance made my breath catch hard.
Kael’s forehead rested against mine for a moment. His breathing had deepened. The control was still present, but frayed along the edges by something that had waited too long.
"Tell me to stop," he growled into my ears.
I did not. I couldn’t rather.
He pushed in.
Slow at first, agonizingly measured, because even with the hunger plain on him he was careful with the size of his body relative to mine. The stretch burned into me in a way that forced a broken sound out of my throat.
He swallowed it with another kiss, one hand braced against the column beside my head while the other gripped my hip hard enough that I knew there would be marks later.
Inch by inch he filled me until I felt the heavy weight of him seated fully inside, until there was nowhere left to go and my body trembled around the intrusion.
He stayed still for a breath. Letting the adjustment happen. Letting me feel every thick inch of him and the way my own body had opened to take it.
Then he started to move.
The first thrusts were deep and rolling, the kind that dragged against every sensitive place inside me and made the edges of vision blur. I clung to him.
My nails dug into the hard muscle of his back. The peachy scent thickened with every movement; he kept turning his face into my neck to breathe it in, groaning low against my skin like the scent itself was something he had been denied too long. His pace built steadily.
The controlled aggression sharpened into something hungrier. Harder. He fucked me against the column with the same certainty he brought to every high-stakes fight, taking what he had already decided belonged to him.
And I took it all. Every hard thrust like a wanton little thing.
My doubts was still present, somewhere under the rising heat; questions about what it meant that I wanted this, that my body opened for him so readily, that the sight and feel of his much larger frame covering mine produced a sense of rightness instead of rejection.
The fact that we were both men sat in the same quiet space as the residual of the projection. I did not push the thought away. I simply let it exist while my body answered every thrust with a gasp and a tightening that had nothing to do with training protocols.
Kael’s voice was rough against my ear.
"Look at you. Taking my cock. Smelling like that. Soft like that. Mine. You hear that. YOU ARE MINE!"
The last word landed harder than the next deep stroke.
He shifted his grip, one arm under my thighs, the other wrapping around my back so he could hold me completely against him. The new angle let him drive deeper and faster.
The wet sound of skin slapping against skin filled the chamber. My cock, leaner and flushed, rubbed against the hard plane of his stomach with every movement.
The dual stimulation climbed too quickly. I came first, sudden and messy, clenching hard around him with a broken cry that echoed off the stone.
He growled, low and satisfied, and fucked me through the aftershocks without slowing down, chasing his own release with the same focused hunger that had driven the entire sequence.
When he came it was deep, hot pulses that filled me while he held me locked against him, forehead pressed to mine, breathing hard and uneven. I felt every throb of it. Every aftershock. The way his hands stayed possessive even as the intensity began to ease.
He did not pull out immediately.
He stayed inside me, still hard, still holding, and kissed me again. It was slower now, almost gentle, as though the aggression had burned itself down to something quieter but no less decided.
"Thursday," he murmured against my mouth.
The word carried the same weight it had on the street, only heavier now, layered with everything that had just happened between us.
I opened my mouth to answer...
...and jolted awake.
The sheets were twisted hard around my legs. My skin was damp with sweat. The peachy scent was strong in the dark room.
It was stronger than usual, mixed with the unmistakable smell of my own release. My cock was still half-hard against my stomach, sticky.
Between my legs I felt the phantom stretch, the vivid memory of being filled and held open and taken, so clear that for several disoriented seconds I could not separate the chamber from the apartment.
Then the ceiling came into focus. The north-facing window. The ordinary quiet of the city outside.
I had been dreaming.
The realization landed with the same abruptness as the exit from the wish projection earlier that day. I stared at the ceiling and breathed until the heart rate slowed.
The doubts were clearer now in the quiet after. So was the warmth. So was the certainty that had been in his hands and his mouth and the way he had said mine like the matter was already settled.
I had not rejected any of it.
I simply lay there in the dark, feeling the residual of the dream the same way I had felt the residual of the projection and the residual of the kiss.
I reminded myself that I see him again in the next two days.
I closed my eyes again. This time sleep came more slowly, but it came.
