Jason soon came out of the house, holding a few documents in his hand. He glanced at Ethan and said, "You don’t need to follow me for now. I’ll call you to meet up with me so we can go there together."

Realizing that his father wanted to keep the new car a secret, Ethan nodded and gave him a thumbs-up.

"Alright. Off you go, old man."

Jason scowled but didn’t retort. He simply went outside and boarded a taxi to the nearest Department of Motor Vehicles.

It didn’t take him long to get there, and after a few minutes of waiting, he was called to the counter. He already had Donald’s information so the transfer was easy.

After completing the necessary paperwork at the Department of Motor Vehicles, Jason officially transferred ownership of the Corolla to Donald.

He immediately called the mechanic to inform him about the completion, earning himself another shower of gratitude.

After ending the call with Donald, Jason called his son next, asking him to meet him at a bus stop near the Toyota dealership in the city while he went ahead.

Jason immediately boarded a taxi again and headed there. Less than ten minutes after he arrived, Ethan also alighted from a different taxi, wearing a faint smile on his lips.

"You want a Toyota product again?" He asked, playfully nudging the man with his elbow.

Jason clicked his tongue. "Hah? What’s wrong with that? You kids of this new generation know nothing about the true quality of a Toyota product."

Following behind him, Ethan rolled his eyes. ’Wait till you see flying cars. Though, I doubt you’d still be alive by then...’

A shadow of gloom crossed his face, but it was quickly replaced by a bright smile.

They soon arrived at a Toyota dealership in the city.

The building was large and modern, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows covering most of its front. A massive Toyota logo stood above the entrance, while several brand-new vehicles were displayed neatly across the spacious parking lot.

Through the glass walls, Ethan could see even more cars lined up inside the brightly lit showroom.

’Mn, not bad.’

They stepped into the building, passing other people who had also come to buy cars or price them. Ethan and his father headed straight to the showroom where different car models were displayed.

Jason ignored all the flashy cars and SUVs, his eyes narrowed as he searched for his favourite model.

Soon, he found it.

Ethan blinked, stupefied. "A Corolla again?"

Jason nodded with a smug expression. "Yes. This has always been my favourite since I was a kid, and I made a vow to use it till I die."

Ethan’s lips twitched. "But this..."

Jason’s expression softened slightly. "Outdated, don’t you think?"

"Yeah." Ethan nodded.

The older man shook his head. "It might be outdated, but I’d be more comfortable driving it than moving around in a multimillion-dollar car that I don’t like."

Ethan hummed, then nodded. "I guess you’re right. Let’s buy this one, then."

He called for the nearest staff member who immediately approached them with a polite smile on her face.

"Good afternoon, sirs. What product are you interested in buying?"

Ethan pointed at the Corolla. "This. Also, can we have it painted grey? I’m sure you don’t like red, right Dad?"

Jason stared at his son with mild surprise. "How did you know? Well, that’s true. I’d prefer grey or silver."

The staff member nodded. "We can do that. But it’d cost you an additional one thousand dollars, bringing the total to twenty-seven thousand."

Ethan raised an eyebrow at the suspicious cost of the repainting, but shrugged. "Alright. Let’s do it. Please get the papers."

She nodded and walked away, returning a few minutes later. Ethan made the payment first, then Jason signed the documents in his name.

"Would you like a test drive?" The lady asked, her smile brighter.

Jason glanced at the car and shook his head. "No need. Just repaint it and deliver to my address."

Hearing that, she smiled even brighter. "Thank you for trusting our services."

Ethan and Jason left shortly after, boarding a taxi that took them straight home. When they got back, it was already late in the afternoon, almost evening.

Ethan was surprised to find Evelyn asleep in the bedroom while Nora studied in the living room. As for Maria, she was upstairs praying.

’What could she be praying for?’

Scratching his head, Ethan walked over to Nora and took out the iPad he had received from the system as a reward.

It was pink in color, perfectly tailored to the little girl’s liking.

Taking a seat beside her, he said, "Look what I got for you. Beautiful, isn’t it?"

Nora continued writing for a few seconds, then reluctantly tore her gaze away from the book. Seeing the device, her eyes widened.

"You bought me an iPad?!"

Ethan blinked, surprised by her outburst. "Well, technically, you could say that."

Nora’s eyes shook, her lips trembling. "You... you weren’t always this nice. What is wrong with you?"

Ethan blinked again, not expecting this kind of reaction. He rubbed his forehead and sighed.

"I agree with you. I wasn’t always this nice. In fact, I wasn’t nice at all. I was a big meanie."

She pursed her lips, her eyes watery. "Then why...? Why are you doing all this? You’re not trying to trick us again, are you?"

Ethan shook his head and patted her shoulder. "You’re overthinking it, Nora. I think I’ve said it before, but I’m only trying to he better. Trust me."

She stared into his eyes in search for signs of deceit, but found none. In the end, she burst into tears.

Bewildered and speechless, Ethan could only pull her into a hug, patting her back reassuringly.

Hearing her voice, Jason came to the living room with a frown on his face. "What happened to her? Why is she crying?"

He looked ready to beat his son if he was the culprit.

Ethan offered a strained smile and said, "Uh... she got very happy that I bought her an iPad. So she’s crying tears of joy."

Jason didn’t immediately believe him, but seeing the pink iPad on the table, he was forced to believe.

He slowly smiled. "Well, at least you know how to do good to your child. I really taught you well."

Ethan rolled his eyes.

’Shameless man. He even dared to credit himself for that? Tsk.’
