Several days passed since Ethan got the call from the Wayne family. He hadn’t noticed anything unusual since then, so he completely ignored them.

Instead, he spent more time bonding with Nora and Evelyn while occasionally pulling the legs of a few spinsters who thought he was unmarried.

Any normal person would have been bored of such a plain lifestyle. However, Ethan wasn’t. He had lived several years in his past life, engrossed in work and business.

Now, it felt like he had retired from work and was enjoying his old age—which wasn’t old in the slightest.

’I’m just 29. Ah, so good to be young.’

Sipping a cup of coffee, he headed to the balcony and looked at the flowers. They had grown a lot now, with the flowers unfurling their petals beautifully.

’No wonder Evelyn likes them,’ He thought with a smile. ’I should bring that old man and his wife here soon. They can permanently stay on the second floor if they want, but I doubt that man would even agree.’

Shaking his head, he turned around just in time to catch Evelyn tiptoeing towards him. She froze, realizing she had been caught.

Ethan smiled and set the cup on a nearby table.

Then, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

She smiled and melted in his arms. "I did. What about you?"

"Hm. Same."

He patted her back a few times, then pulled away. "Do you want to make today’s breakfast too?"

She shook her head. "No. You do it today. I’ll just watch and learn."

"Alright." Ethan nodded, picked up the cup, and headed to the kitchen. Evelyn followed closely behind him.

After rinsing the cup, he immediately took out the needed ingredients for the meal and began to prepare them.

Evelyn stood by his side and watched like an owl, studying his movements and everything he did.

By the time he was done, her eyes were shining and her mouth felt watery.

"Ethan... you should really go for these chef competitions or something. You’ll make money and become popular."

Raising an eyebrow, Ethan chuckled. "Nah, that’s not my thing. Why cook for strangers when I can just cook for my family?"

Evelyn stared at him, aghast. Lightly pinching his arm, she pouted.

"Don’t you want to be famous?"

"Fame?" Ethan shook his head. "I don’t need to chase fame to become famous. Remember the saying: whatever you chase runs away from you? It’ll come when the time is right."

As he carried the dishes to the dining room, Evelyn stood rooted to the spot, her mind blown by his wise words.

A while later, they sat around the table with Nora who had just woken up a few minutes ago.

"Good morning, Mom, Dad," She said with a polite smile.

Ethan ruffled her hair while Evelyn pecked her cheek in response to her greeting.

As Ethan picked his spoon and got ready to eat, his phone rang. Annoyed, he shot a glare at it and checked the caller.

’What does he want this early in the morning?’

Answering the call with a roll of his eyes, Ethan said, "Hello, Lucas."

"Hehe, Good morning, Brother Ethan," Lucas replied cheerfully. "I come bearing great news."

"Spit it." Ethan’s lips twitched.

Not minding his tone, Lucas reported. "I already got that Frank guy out of the department. I should have told you a few days ago, but I got tied up with something else. How did you know that guy was into fraud?"

Ethan blinked, then answered, "I don’t want to answer that. By the way, what are you tied up with? Business again?"

Lucas cleared his throat. "Ah, alright. It’s obviously business. I’m working on a new project for the company, but there are a few hiccups here and there. Wait. I’m not interrupting something, am I?"

Ethan deadpanned. "You are. I’m literally supposed to be having breakfast right now."

Evelyn suppressed a laugh and continued eating.

"Oh, that’s really poor, Brother Ethan," Lucas said sympathetically. "Sigh. I know how it feels to miss breakfast."

"I’ll cut the call," Ethan replied flatly.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Lucas’s tone was immediately filled with panic, and he shouted. "Please wait! I actually needed your help on the new project. My marketing team and I are having issues that might need your intervention."

Ethan scoffed. "If only you hadn’t called when I was about to eat, I might have considered it properly."

"Ugh. Big Brother. You have to help me, okay?"

Hearing Lucas’s coy plea, Ethan shivered in disgust. "You fish. Fine. But remember, you owe me another favor."

"Of course, of course." Lucas agreed immediately. "I’m always owing you favors."

The moment he said that, he instantly regretted it.

Ethan smiled. "Ah, I’ll remind you of that. Good thing I recorded it."

Clearing his throat to hide his feelings, Lucas asked, "What time will you be coming?"

Ethan thought about it, then said, "I’ll be there by 12 noon."

"What?!" Lucas shouted and complained. "That’s too long. I scheduled the meeting for 8 AM this morning."

Baffled, Ethan asked, "Don’t you guys have families or something? Who goes for a meeting that early?"

"Uh... well, most of my team members are workaholics, so..." Lucas explained, sounding embarrassed.

Ethan shook his head, disappointed. "Y’all can’t live long like this. Anyway, I’ll be there by 9 AM. If you can’t accept that, then forget about me coming."

Unable to argue, Lucas could only sigh and agree. "Alright. I’ll send my driver to—"

"No, that won’t be needed." Ethan interrupted him. "I have my own means of transportation now."

"Uh... alright. I’ll be expecting you!"

Lucas spoke cheerfully, then ended the call. Putting down the phone, Ethan finally focused on his food. Thankfully, it was still warm.

’These guys really take no breaks, huh? I wonder how Lucas is managing at home. I’ll ask him later.’

Turning to Evelyn, he said, "I’ll be going to Lucas’s office after dropping you off at the shop."

She nodded, already aware. "Alright. Drive safely and come back early, okay?"

"Yes ma’am."
