Release That Succubus
Chapter 482
Chapter 482: Chapter 482
While in his previous world, a few words shared over a drink were enough to call each other brothers, this world had a whole ceremony for such a declaration. It was a happy and a major event that people celebrated.
Zach suggested such a thing fully knowing what he was implying to Ronaldo.
The latter on the other hand had no inkling of Zach’s true intentions. He was just excited and happy that Zach was willing to take such a step with him and had decided to forgive him for his previous transgressions.
"I am ashamed that the thought didn’t come to me first. You truly are different. I can’t think of a greater honor. Let’s go through the ceremony right away. I am dying to call you brother."
Zach acted as if he was just as excited as Ronaldo whose voice had already grown a bit high-pitched from excitement.
"Let’s get it done right away then." Zach responded to Ronaldo’s earlier request.
Ronaldo shook his head and called for a military guard who was standing guard by the edge of the room before saying to Zach, "Wait a bit longer, we can’t go through with this without any preparation after all."
Zach nodded as he was in no hurry to go through with the ceremony. He was waiting for all the conditions to align before he could go ahead with his plan. He wasn’t truly planning to become Ronaldo’s sworn brother after all.
Ronaldo expressed his apology to Zach before marching away with the guard while whispering something in his ear the whole time.
"Get everyone in the mansion to gather outside in the garden. I want to talk to everyone. Everyone who isn’t doing anything should be there in the next two minutes."
The guard didn’t wait for Ronaldo to dismiss him as he had been given a time constraint by his superior. He ran off like his ass was on fire and started shouting to anyone he came across, "Gather in the garden. Commander wants to talk. NOW!"
Anyone who heard him answered the call and it wasn’t long before there was a huge crowd in the garden waiting for the commander to address them.
By the time Ronaldo reached, everyone who was free was already there.
Ronaldo hurriedly assigned tasks to everyone so that the brotherhood commemoration ceremony could be carried out in the grandest manner. He believed that it was only right for him to arrange it in such a manner to make up for the hurt he had caused his soon-to-be brother.
Zach was still inside the mansion when he heard a slight pitter patter sound that was intermittent at first but soon grew steady.
A smile came over Zach’s face unintentionally. It was just as he had expected.
It was raining outside.
Zach’s excitement knew no bounds. The plan he had in his mind needed the help of this rain to reach completion.
At first Zach had been skeptical that the system forecast would turn out to be true as weather wasn’t something that could be predicted accurately even with the help of the modern technology in his previous world. But he knew that since the system had predicted it, there was a high chance that it would rain followed by a thunderstorm.
Excitement bubbled up inside him like an active volcano coming back to life after having lain dormant for the majority of its life.
Zach’s plan was to make use of the lightning during the thunderstorm to kill Ronaldo without arousing any suspicion towards himself. After all, there was no way that he would be blamed for an act of god, especially when the two of them were about to become sworn brothers. He was planning to execute the perfect crime this time so that not a single drop of Ronaldo’s blood would smear his clothes.
Remembering how effective his lightning rod had been in dealing with the trash of Elizabeth family, Zach could feel excitement shooting off sparks inside of him as if his entire being was already resonating with the thunderstorm brewing outside. It was only a matter of time before the bastard Ronaldo paid the price for his sins.
Being in the politics circle for a long time, Zach had learnt to put on façade as well. He could be thinking exactly opposite thing on the inside but was fully capable of portraying the exact opposite on his face like smiling tigers with benevolent tyrants. The terms existed because twisted people like that existed out there.
Zach had no choice but to become one of these monsters in order to keep himself safe among vultures.
In front of Ronaldo, he acted as if he was crestfallen at the sudden onset of rain. It was as if his heartfelt desire had been trodden upon.
Ronaldo himself wasn’t feeling too good so he was especially sympathetic towards Zach.
"Don’t worry, it will clear up. Summer rains don’t last very long. It would be dry soon and we can then hold the ceremony." Zach carefully worded his encouragement while wrapping it all up and delivering it to Ronaldo with a miserable look on his face. It was as if he was about to change his mind about the whole thing.
Ronaldo got flustered instantly.
Ronaldo had been having bad dreams lately. He couldn’t even sleep properly knowing what Zach was capable of. He had previously wiped a whole island to destroy the Hunter family that had harmed his wife. Not even a blade of grass of the island still remained. It had all sunk down to the depths of the ocean.
Not willing to take the slightest risk of Zach changing his mind, Ronaldo acted as if the rain didn’t bother him at all. He looked even more excited instead as he stared at Zach with undisguised and bubbling happiness.
"A mere rain can’t wash away the bond between the two of us. To declare to the world about our unbreakable bond, let’s go through with the ceremony in the rain. Let’s show the onlookers that our bond isn’t so weak that it would falter in front of a mere weather change." Ronaldo grew more confident, the more he spoke even though the words coming out of his mouth were so embarrassing for Zach.
Zach almost cringed out listening to his proclamations. It was almost as if Zach was listening to an old dude confessing his love to him in front of the public.
He wanted to run away but he had a bigger goal in mind. Therefore, his feet remained planted to the ground like a tree stem firmly lodged in the ground.
Hiding the smile that threatened to take control of his facial muscles, Zach acted as if he had no other choice but to listen to Ronaldo on this. He made sure that everyone around knew that it wasn’t his idea to proceed with the ceremony in the rain.
Even though he needed Ronaldo to conduct the ceremony during the rainstorm to make use of the lightning rod, he couldn’t be obvious about his intentions. Otherwise, nothing would stop the masses from pinning the blame on him in the event that he did something to Ronaldo.
As such, he manipulated Ronaldo into thinking that it was his idea in the first place. Zach made sure that there were onlookers around when Ronaldo suggested ’his’ idea regarding the conduct of the ceremony through the rain.
"If you are going to insist so much, it doesn’t leave me much choice, does it? I have to stand with my brother then."
The servants around him heard his words and so did some of the other guests.
Zach made sure to remember at least a few of the faces in case he needed them in the future to aid him in bearing witness to his innocence.
Ronaldo was over the moon thinking that he had managed to convince Zach but he failed to understand Zach’s hidden intentions and the subtle manipulations in his actions even though Ronaldo had spent longer time than Zach in politics.
"Prepare everything this instant. I don’t want anything lacking, see to it." ordered Ronaldo to one of the guards.
The guard nodded in acknowledgement of the order and ran away in order to supervise as the servants got busy trying to prepare for the ceremony in a hurry.
The ceremony wasn’t a very grand one but it still needed some essentials.
There was expensive wine, a document that stated the relationship between the two undergoing the ceremony. It would be proof that the two were sworn brothers in the future.
The servants got busy in arrangement of the venue while Zach had nothing better to do than watch from the sidelines. He was waiting for the opportune moment and hoped that his timing wouldn’t be off.
The thunderstorm in the sky was still brewing, which meant that Zach still had some time. He could afford to loiter around. Urging Ronaldo to hurry up at this time would only bring him under suspicion.
Still, he was hopeful that the ceremony would be ready before the thunderstorm began. The rain was still mellow compared to what the systemic forecast had predicted. It could only mean that the rain was only a herald to the storm that would come soon.
Just as Zach was lost in thought a fleeting figure passed in front of him in the crowd of servants. The crowd was busily setting up the venue in the garden but the blue clothed back in the crowd was too prominent to miss.
