Chapter 450: Chapter 450

Although his words implied sadness, there was only provocation on his face and a cunning smile as if he already knew that this strategy of his was going to be effective.

Brittany understood his intentions instantly as she could feel the lustful gaze of the merchant travelling across her body as if scanning her image in its entirety.

Brittany felt as if countless needles were pricking all over her skin but she ignored the terribly uncomfortable feeling and focused on the merchant’s next course of action. She couldn’t let it happen in her presence, not to that little girl.

The merchant locked eyes with her while pressing on the head of the little girl. He forced her to fall on her knees before pulling her hair towards his crotch.

The girl looked at him with her tear-stained face and gave him a pleading look.

The merchant appeared unconcerned with her feelings and said, "Take it in your mouth. Though, I wonder if you can take it. Although it is meant for big girls, you should be able to do it if you put your mind to it."

The little girl was hesitant, but she understood what her master wanted from her. She had seen the other girls do the same for him before.

She was afraid that she would not be able to breathe once she took it in her mouth. Even the girls who had been bigger than her had choked breathless when they did it before. She didn’t want to feel pain anymore.

"Since you don’t want to take care of me, I won’t be caring for you either. Then you can forget about eating for as long as you remain unsold."

The trafficker didn’t feel any shame at all threatening the little girl into giving him a blowjob. He threatened her with food, something that made her give in instantly.

The little girl complied with his orders and began to undo his breeches while fumbling with his waist. She had no experience in such acts, and it was painfully obvious that she didn’t know what she was doing.

Brittany roared furiously but her voice got lost in her mouth. She began to gasp for breath and Zach had no option but to soothe her before she harmed herself.

Brittany was beyond herself in grief. She could still recall the time when she had been forced for the first time against her wishes. The feeling of repulsion instantly came over her as she felt like clawing her skin off to wash off the disgust from her body.

She wanted nothing more than to cut off the merchant’s balls if she could. She was willing to do anything to save the little girl and that included sacrificing her life if need be.

Once again, she found herself completely helpless in front of the rules of the cruel world. She had no one other than Zach to turn to.

Brittany cast a pleading look towards Zach while the latter worriedly tried to calm her down by rubbing her back softly. He figured that this was the only thing he could do for her for the time being.

"Please let me take her place, Master. G-Give me to him...if you have to, b-but please... please save her. I don’t want her to go through the same thing as me."

Brittany pleaded with Zach in between her sobs and hiccups but Zach turned a deaf ear to her. He would never willingly harm Brittany now that he had taken her under his wing. Her safety was more important to him than the well-being of a stranger.

"Don’t spout rubbish. Didn’t I tell you to stop saying such things. You are not a thing that I can give away to just anyone. You are a person...my person. I won’t let anything, or anyone harm you, not even yourself. As for that merchant..."

Just as Zach was making up his mind to blow a few holes through the merchant’s body, someone took the chance to exact justice of the heavens before Zach could make his move.

While the trafficker was still busy giving Zach a perverse yet smug look to proclaim his victory, a figure burst from amongst the audience.

Zach only saw that the person had traversed the length of the audience in less than a second, which spoke of the high agility the figure had.

Even Jack, who relied on wind magic to be agile, paled a lot in comparison to this elusive figure.

In a matter of milliseconds, the figure was already in front of the trafficker who was still immersed in his glory for shaming and denying Zach Smith, the Viscount associated with the Royal family and the top dog of the city.

A bright flash blinded everyone in sight as the sun reflected off the surface of the steel blade.

Following the temporary blindness that followed the flash of light, the audience went into an uproar upon noticing that the merchant was missing his head. It was rolling towards the audience slowly.

A fountain of blood erupted from the neck of the merchant that was no longer supporting the head. The little girl wasn’t even aware that her oppressor was already a corpse when she was about to undress his lower body completely.

It was only after the body began to fall backwards that she felt that something was wrong and looked up to take account of the situation.

The shower of red struck fear in her heart but at the same time she felt an incredible sense of relief in her heart.

The severed head came to a rest before an elderly member of the audience, who, in sheer terror, stumbled backward and landed on the ground. The dead, yet strangely smiling, face of the merchant adorned with a smug expression now lay detached from its body.

There was an eerie quality to the scene, emphasizing the abruptness of the merchant’s demise. It became apparent that he hadn’t foreseen his own death; the smug look frozen on his lifeless face hinted at an instant and unforeseen end.

In the blink of an eye, the merchant’s fate had been sealed, and by the time he comprehended the unfolding events, his head was already soaring through the air.

Following the gruesome incident, chaos erupted in the marketplace. The once orderly and congested space transformed into a frantic bottleneck, hindering the audience’s attempts to flee unobstructed.

Panic swept through the crowd like wildfire, prompting a frenzied scramble for safety. The air resonated with the dissonance of hurried footsteps, terrified shouts, and the palpable fear that gripped the onlookers.

The marketplace, once a bustling hub of commerce, now stood witness to the aftermath of a horrifying event that had shattered its semblance of normalcy.

In the midst of the bewildered crowd, oblivious to the details of the trafficker’s demise, Zach stood out as an exception. He had observed the entire sequence of events with an air of detachment, as if the assassination bore no relation to him, from its inception to its conclusion.

Obviously, it was the truth, but he had to make sure that the audience believed in him as well.

Although Zach hadn’t seen the face of the attacker, he had observed the killing technique and the figure of the assailant quite well. Furthermore, the sword used was blue in color which was probably the natural color of the ore the sword had been forged from.

The lean build of the assassin and the graceful yet effective swordsmanship skill all indicated that the assailant was a woman. Even with everything at his disposal, Zach was barely able to see her back and the sword that she swung at an inhuman speed. Her overall figure still felt a little blurry to Zach, like a car had crossed him on the road with a speed of few hundred kilometers while travelling in the opposite direction.

While Zach was still trying to figure out who had killed the merchant, Brittany couldn’t care less about it. The miracle she had been hoping for had taken place right in front of her eyes.

She thanked all the gods in existence who might or might not have listened to her prayers.

Rushing forward, she wrapped the little girl in her arms, shielding her from the bloody view of the headless corpse that was still spitting blood from the severed neck. A pool of blood had already formed around the corpse that was slowly turning cold from the embrace of death.

Brittany wanted to keep the little girl from suffering any kind of trauma on the day she was finally about to be free from captivity.

Zach was prudent enough to know that it was time for him to make his exit as well. There had already been quite a commotion in the marketplace and the place was surely about to be crowded.

"Let’s go. We shouldn’t stay here any longer." Zach conveyed his intentions to Brittany who was still shielding the eyes of the little girl from the scene of the merchant’s demise, turned around and began to walk away from the terrified crowd. Although he appeared cool on the surface, as if the death of the merchant hadn’t affected him much, the truth was that he was shaken up a bit too.

It was just that he had gotten quite good at hiding things as well after being in the political run for so long.

As soon as Zach asked her to return home, Brittany grabbed the little girl with her and in the confusion, no one asked her why she was taking away someone else’s belongings.
