Chapter 140 Improvements

"What happened to you?" Celeste asked him with concern. "You were screaming and writhing in pain so much that the others started to get really worried. I was able to stop them from entering your tent just like you wanted, but I’ll admit even I was tempted to help you."

Eren looked at everyone and realized that he owed them an explanation.

So, he gathered everyone in a circle and explained what he had done.

"This is called a Physique Accelerant Paste," he said as he showed them the individual leaf packages of the pastes he created yesterday.

"Applying this onto my body allowed me to become a lot stronger than before. It matured my muscles, allowing me to exert more power and control equivalent to months of exercise in the gym."

Everyone looked at the leaf in shock. Could such medicine really exist?

They were not that well-versed in the creation of herbs and pills and pastes, but they knew that not even the Cai family offered such a medicine with a great boon.

While others were obviously a bit skeptical and filled with doubt, Celeste on the other hand, had a look of surprise and realization.

After all, she was the one who noticed the immediate change in Eren’s physicality. It explained how he was able to suddenly have these huge bursts of improvement with seemingly no explanation.

It made sense too. The last time that this happened, he also concocted that paste with the Skyward Herbs.

"I don’t mean to doubt you, Eren," said Abe. "But can that paste really do all that? How can it be equivalent to months’ work in the gym?"

Eren nodded. "It does. But of course, it’s not without its downsides. Just like you all heard earlier, this causes intense pain within your muscles. It will twist and knot and become a thousand times more painful than a cramp.

But by the end of it, your muscles will have improved tremendously."

He looked at them all and smiled. "Who would like to try it out?’

There were plenty more Physique Accelerant Pastes from the batch he created. He only used six. Meaning, there were a hundred more to be used.

Now, he was offering it to the rest of his group so that they could use it to improve as well.

This was not generosity. It was a calculated move on Eren’s part simply because he knew that he wouldn’t have any need for the Physique Accelerant Paste once he opened all 12 of his Primary Meridians.

It would be better for his plans if he revealed this now to everyone else.

His group wasn’t the strongest. But with this Physique Accelerant Paste, they’d at least be able to improve decently enough to match with the rest of their competition.

Eventually, Henry raised his hand. "I’d like to try it out."

He walked up to Eren and was handed a leaf of the Physique Accelerant Paste.

"Good luck."

Right in front of everyone, Henry applied the paste on both of his arms. It looked like a normal lotion from an outsider’s perspective.

But a few seconds later, the bite came.

Henry felt as if his entire arms were immersed in hot oil. His face contorted in pain as the muscles underneath his skin began to visibly move and twist, as if he was having a massive cramp.

It lasted for a minute in total. By the end of it, Henry looked like he was spent and exhausted.

"Yo.... Henry... you okay dude?"

"Is he dead?"

"Nah... he’s snoring!"

About five minutes later, Henry suddenly sat up, surprising everyone. Unlike his expression just a few minutes ago, he looked like an entirely new man.

Henry looked at his own arms with wonder. He felt the difference immediately.

And without any prompting, he began to practice his Martial Manual. Reinforcement flared in his fists as he began to go through the motions of his technique.

He topped it off with a climactic smashing of the ground, causing the igneous rocks beneath him to crack and shatter.

This caused shock and surprise from Henry himself, as if he wasn’t expecting to exert such powerful strength.

"I advanced...," he muttered. "I reached the Middle Proficiency Mastery of my Martial Manual!"

Those who were close with Henry were the most surprised. After all, he’d been very vocal about his frustrations with not being able to advance to the next tier of mastery for the longest time.

But now, after applying the Physique Accelerant Paste just once, he immediately succeeded.

They didn’t know if it was luck or not, but it certainly caused more people to become interested in what Eren had concocted.

"Whatever. I want one too!" Paul said. "It’s just a few minutes of pain, right? Then, hopefully, I can also advance in my mastery."

Eren gave him a leaf too. And just like with Henry, Paul went through the same excruciating pain of cramping before he was able to see the results.

"Amazing! I feel like I’ve been renewed!" Paul shouted. He began unleashing his Martial Manual, showing off a decent execution of his technique. It was clearly a step above that of what he was previously able to do.

"He also advanced?!"

"I don’t think that’s a coincidence anymore..."

"Could that paste really work?"

Eventually, more and more people became interested with the Physique Accelerant Paste. One by one, they lined up in front of Eren and received their own leaf.

Together, they applied the paste onto the body part in which they wanted to improve on.

Of course, the pain came just like before. But after that came elation. The euphoric feeling of advancing in their cultivation had left them forgetting about the painful experience that they had just gone through.

"I never knew mastery could be this easy!"

"Where has this been before?!"

"Eren, you are a genius!"

It wasn’t long before Delia approached Eren and asked for a leaf as well.

Now, Academic Sector examinees didn’t need to train their body all that much. However, seeing such massive improvements made them crave for it as well.
