Chapter 126: Changing Array

Sav and the other Academic Examinees in his group were completely flabbergasted upon seeing this.

Even Delia herself couldn’t believe that she was able to manipulate this Array Formation to become such a creative solution to the problem.

Every student who had studied even a little bit of Array Formations knew that altering the very characteristics of an Array Formation required a lot of knowledge and skill and forethought.

The traps in this volcano should have punched anyone out. But instead, it was now being used as a platform so that the other members of Eren group had something to stand on without having to worry about falling!

Delia couldn’t help but look at Eren. She couldn’t take credit for this. After all, he was the one who taught her how to do this.

The training that they did yesterday had perfectly prepared her for this very moment! Meaning, Eren knew exactly how to solve this Array Formation by himself! He knew it so well that he was able to reverse-engineer how it worked and manipulate it to their advantage!

"You guys! Do the same thing with the other Array Formation traps," said Eren.

After seeing Delia succeed, they eventually did as Eren asked.

They touched the Array Formations on the wall. And as soon as they did, they felt that the maze and puzzle of symbols in this Array Formation was familiar.

It was the same thing that they practiced yesterday! It was the very same circuit that they had spent imagining themselves flying alongside, just like Eren instructed them to!

They didn’t even have to think too much. They simply followed what they practiced, and they were able to manipulate the Array Formation just like Delia.

Soon enough, the other members of their group took on one Array Formation at a time. Now, more and more of those platforms emerged from the sheer cliff face of the volcano. This allowed Sierra, Abe, Paul, and the rest of them to scale up the wall despite not being proficient in Negative Reinforcement.

Everyone in this Territory all watched Eren’s group scale up the volcano with ease.

They didn’t have to use their Negative Reinforcement to scale the walls vertically. The traps that were supposed to punch them back into the ground ended up becoming the stairs that allowed them to climb up!

Sav and his group of ’top-notch’ Academic Sector scholars were completely speechless.

They would have never been able to do this. And they tried. Multiple times. The best they could do was to delay that traps.

And now, they were watching these mediocre Academic Examinees change the Array Formations in the cliff faces with absolute ease. This was the kind of thing that only veteran scholars could do!

"How... how are they able to do this?!"

"This isn’t serious. Those Array Formations must be malfunctioning!"

"They could barely even write the most basic Array Formations back in school. But now, suddenly, they’re experts?! It doesn’t make sense!"

Eventually, the final member of Eren’s group climbed up the cliff, finishing their ascent on the First Cliffside. Now, they were on stable ground, allowing them a brief respite from the near vertical climbing sections of the volcano.

Seeing Eren and his group climb up and complete the First Cliffside, Sav immediately turned back towards his group. "We’re climbing up!" he told them.

Without hesitation, they journeyed back up to the base of the First Cliffside.

They all looked up. The walls looked even steeper now that they were here.

With Eren’s group gone, the wall had turned back into the smooth cliff face that it had been before.

"Hmph. If they could do it, we could do it too," Sav said.

And so, he raised his hand and touched the Array Formation trap on the stone wall.

He concentrated for a few seconds. And soon, a portion of the wall slowly extended out. Sav’s group members were elated upon seeing this.

But in the next second, the wall accelerated outwards, completely thrusting Sav out of the mountain.

He tumbled through the air, before he was caught by his group members on the base of the volcano.

"Damn it!" Sav cursed. He walked back up to the cliff side. Along with him werre his smartest group members. They were all confident of their skills in Array Formations.

But as soon as they touched those red symbols, the trap would activate and it would propel them out like they were ragdolls.

"Sav and his group failed? Then how did those people do it?"

"Does this mean that they’re not actually as smart as they said they were?"

"Typical Academic Sector. They just think they’re more superior than others..."

Sav and his group were completely humiliated. The very people they were mocking, ended up showing an even better skill than them! And now, in front of the other groups, they had become the butt of the joke.

Eren looked down at Sav and inwardly smiled. It was always good to teach people their place. He had hated how Sav thought himself superior, when Eren knew that the knowledge that these people had on Array Formations were nothing but surface level.

"We did it..."

"I can’t believe we actually changed the properties of an Array Formation!"

"I never thought I’d be able to do that. Heck, our teachers told us we wouldn’t be able to do it till we had years of practice!"

"Who knew the solution was to just visualize ourselves flying along the symbols."

Eren’s group members were all still reeling from the fact that they had succeeded in solving the Array Formations perfectly.

But of course, Eren knew that this was only the First Cliffside.

They still had to get over the Second and Third Cliffside if they wanted to get to the flag.

"Let’s go and make camp for now," he said to them. "Then, tomorrow morning, we’ll try and reach the Second Cliffside."

Just as they said that, a few people approached them from the horizon.
