Chapter 1632: Blood Gate’s Counterattack
Ever since Su Xiao first sniped at the Blood Gate Adventure Group at the Clock Tower, he has attempted long-distance sniping every 20 to 30 minutes on average.
The initial effects were remarkable; not only did Stan take a bullet himself, but his subordinates suffered over 20 casualties. Yet, after eight in the morning, the Blood Gate people withdrew from Fuyuki City, abandoning Su Xiao, this seemingly at-hand target that could never be corralled.
Everyone in Blood Gate was bewildered as to how there could be such a sniper in the world. They’ve encountered snipers stronger than Su Xiao numerous times, but never before have they lost so many people to a single sniper. The reason was simple: Su Xiao seemed to have pinpointed their location, leaving the detection-type Contractors of Blood Gate worried sick. No matter how they searched, they couldn’t figure out how Su Xiao detected their positions.
As a result, Stan gathered all the members together and interrogated them one by one; those team members were just short of stripping down completely, unable to find any kind of trackers or location coordinates.
As for sending people to encircle and kill Su Xiao, that’s even more impossible. Su Xiao seemed to know how many people they dispatched, and he always managed to escape their encirclement successfully. That night, Fuyuki City was in turmoil.
Based on the speculations of Stan, Naloi, and Old Smoker, there must have been a traitor among them. As for who the traitor was, Stan hadn’t investigated yet. At present, the Blood Gate crowd was on edge from being sniped. There was a poor guy who got shot while using the toilet. Stan still remembers that member holding toilet paper, with eyes full of panic. That helpless look made Sta curse aloud “Fack.”
After eight in the morning, Fuyuki City gradually became bustling, and the Blood Gate crowd had retreated to the suburban derelict building.
At this time, in the derelict building area, layers of large barriers protected a building within. The Blood Gate people were driven back here.
“Let’s hear it, what do you have as a countermeasure.”
Stan still wore that composed expression he’s accustomed to. Beside him were Naloi and Old Smoker. Although Stan’s relationship with Naloi had started to become discordant, Naloi would definitely be present for important matters within the team.
“Scatter around, at least expand the encirclement to a 3-kilometer scope. Next time that son of a b|itch ambushes us, immediately tighten the net.”
Old Smoker’s hand was wrapped in bandages, his left arm was visibly dislocated. Last night, late into the night, Old Smoker made contact with Su Xiao, but unfortunately couldn’t hold him.
“Wouldn’t that just put us back in the previous situation? We are in the light, and the enemy is in the dark; this is the worst-case scenario. Moreover, the ‘traitor’ among us is too lethal. Once we resolve the traitor, he can’t do much to us. The reason he ambushes with sniping is because his direct combat strength can’t compete with ours. Actually, this is good news; he is gambling, gambling that we can’t encircle him successfully. Once we achieve this, this major concern can be eliminated.”
Naloi held a piece of bloody raw meat, with several brightly colored spiders chewing on it.
“So, you guys don’t have any good plans either?”
Stan could tell, both Old Smoker and Naloi were evading the topic.
“If Yuan were still here, he’d definitely have a plan.”
Naloi glanced at Stan, the implication was obvious.
“Naloi, what do you mean.”
Old Smoker fixed a burning gaze on Naloi. In the past, he would never confront Naloi with such a tone.
“Wrong is wrong. Yuan’s departure is linked to you, me, and Stan.”
Naloi didn’t mind Old Smoker’s attitude, seemingly just stating a fact.
“Humph.”
Old Smoker snorted coldly and fell silent. He had always been aware of the fatal issue within the team, which was lack of unity, totally held together by Stan’s deterrent power, and below Stan was Yuan, a bald man of extreme intelligence.
“Shut up, all of you.”
Stan spoke; Old Smoker and Naloi fell silent. Important decisions were still made by Stan.
“How stupid internal strife is at times like this, you should be clearer about this than I am. Moreover, it’s not as if we have no way to deal with Bai Ye. Naloi isn’t entirely without reason. The following…”
Stan’s words stopped here as he temporarily set team channel permissions, and the three began secret negotiations within the team channel.
After hearing Stan stop halfway through his words, Bu Bu Wang, squatting nearby, leaned forward regretfully, unable to glean more information from Stan. Stan had already vaguely suspected Bu Bu Wang’s existence; he didn’t perceive it, but guessed Bu Bu Wang’s presence; this was their ‘traitor.’
Stan’s talk with the other two ended quickly, and outside the derelict building, the barrier opened.
On the edge of Fuyuki City, the fiery sunlight shone down as Su Xiao crouched on a rooftop, waiting for a chance to snipe at the Blood Gate people.
Soon, Bu Bu Wang sent word, and Su Xiao swiftly rose and took a half-crouching stance, ready to wield the Duke of Extinction.
The actions of Blood Gate surprised Su Xiao greatly, yet bad news immediately arrived — Stan, Naloi, and Old Smoker actually separated from the main group, while the others remained within the derelict building’s barrier, and only these three left it.
Clearly, Stan vaguely sensed Bu Bu Wang’s presence, and the dilemma now was whether Bu Bu Wang should track Stan and the others or stay within the barrier.
According to Bu Bu Wang’s transmitted message, its situation was urgent; that barrier was about to close, making it difficult for it to get out afterward.
‘Track Stan!’
Su Xiao ordered Bu Bu Wang without hesitation, and Bu Bu Wang dashed out of the barrier within the derelict building, closely following Stan and the others.
Stan’s trio was headed toward Fuyuki City; they weren’t afraid of Su Xiao’s sniping but rather wanted him to attempt sniping them more.
On the rooftop, Su Xiao frowned tightly. He couldn’t fathom what Stan was planning; abandoning their numerical advantage, only three left the barrier, clearly not a wise choice.
Musing for a moment, Su Xiao contacted Bennie through the adventure group channel. Although Bennie was treasure hunting, it hadn’t actually left Fuyuki City and arrived at Su Xiao’s location within half an hour.
With a few swift leaps, Bennie jumped onto the rooftop, elegantly sashaying toward Su Xiao.
“Meow?”
Bennie tilted its head at Su Xiao, meaning: “What’s up?”
“Keep an eye on that barrier.”
“Meow~”
Bennie softly protested, as a Meow Star People yearning for freedom, how could it possibly keep watch? Is it possible? Impossible!
“Looking at the recent accounts, it seems you…”
“Meow meow meow~”
Bennie flicked its tail, implying: “I was wrong, fine, I’ll notify you once they leave the barrier.”
For now, Su Xiao couldn’t do anything about the Contractors inside the barrier. Earlier, he managed to snipe so many Blood Gate Contractors mainly because they were unaware of Bu Bu Wang’s existence and kept trying to surround him. Now, these guys clearly got smart.
As for clashing to the death with Stan now, that’s also unwise. Once engaged, if Blood Gate Adventure Group possess team fast-assembly abilities, Su Xiao would face Stan + Naloi + Old Smoker + 129 Contractors’ siege simultaneously, leading to certain doom. Heaven knows how many layers of barriers would emerge; if a space-blocking type barrier appears, Su Xiao would be besieged to death even if he activates Demonic Hunt Time, though the Blood Gate people wouldn’t come out unscathed either.
The situation suddenly reached a stalemate; Stan was stuck as Su Xiao, and vice versa. The good news was that Su Xiao could now move freely, having the opportunity to complete the hunt task quickly. Regarding the violator’s whereabouts, he’s beginning to have a clue.
