Chapter 1629: Girl, Your Plug-ins Have Arrived
As soon as Rin Tohsaka stepped out of the next room, Su Xiao dragged her back. Stripping and exchanging command seals was something absolutely forbidden in previous Holy Grail Wars; the Holy Church wouldn’t allow it, and the Magician Association wouldn’t stand by idly. But the Fifth Holy Grail War was an exception, as those two major forces were not interested in this Holy Grail War.
A few minutes later, a somewhat exhausted Rin Tohsaka walked out of the room. She glanced at the two command seals on her hand and sensed the Heroic Spirit so powerful it made one blush in shame. She sighed deeply, wanting to say, “A forcibly twisted melon is not sweet.”
However, Su Xiao didn’t care if the melon was sweet or not; he only needed to twist it off.
The only daughter of the legendary Tosaka family, now became one of the strongest forces in this Holy Grail War because she nearly had the help of three Heroic Spirits.
Suddenly endowed with power, Rin Tohsaka was clearly a bit uncomfortable. She touched the command seals on the back of her hand, always feeling like they weren’t her own.
“See you later, both of you.”
Su Xiao stepped out of the Emiya residence, while Rin Tohsaka looked at Heroic Spirit Emiya, meaning: “Take care of yourself, I have no choice either.”
Soon, only Shirou Emiya and Heroic Spirit Emiya remained in the room. Heroic Spirit Emiya sat cross-legged at the low wooden table and poured himself a cup of tea.
“What should we do next?”
Shirou Emiya felt a bit bewildered; things were happening too fast, without subtitles, his mind couldn’t keep up.
“I’ll drink tea, and you can go to school as usual tomorrow.”
“And the Holy Grail War?”
“Objectively speaking, thanks to your magical power supply, I’m lucky to be the weakest Heroic Spirit in this Holy Grail War.”
“Huh ~”
…
In a mansion in Fuyuki City.
“Teacher, am I really capable?”
A female voice came from the darkness, and through the moonlight, her purple long hair could be vaguely seen.
“As my student, you certainly are. With her help, the final victor of this Holy Grail War will belong to you, Sakura.”
A deep voice came, and in the corner of the room stood a female Heroic Spirit.
Meanwhile, on the southern streets of Fuyuki City, Rin Tohsaka walked with her arms crossed in front, seemingly feeling very insecure.
“Saber, you won’t suddenly feel I’m useless, and switch to another Master, will you?”
Apparently, Su Xiao’s deep understanding of the Holy Grail War made Rin Tohsaka very insecure, and the sudden feeling of having power made her feel a lack of reality.
“Stow your paranoid persecution complex.”
Su Xiao was checking recent news or oddities on a tablet, looking for traces of violators.
“Earlier, I heard you say you participated in the Fourth Holy Grail War. Who won that time? Can the Holy Grail really grant all wishes?”
“No one won.”
“Huh? Didn’t the Einzbern clan win?”
“Where did you hear that?”
“Priest Kotomine said so. After all, he’s the supervisor of this Holy Grail, so it’s highly credible.”
Upon hearing Rin’s words, Su Xiao paused in his movements.
“Didn’t he tell you who stabbed his teacher in the back with that ‘Master’s Treasure’?”
“What?”
Rin Tohsaka suddenly stopped, standing in front of Su Xiao.
“Who ambushed my father from behind, and what is ‘Master’s Treasure’?”
Rin Tohsaka looked at Su Xiao, her shock mixed with a hint of realization.
“Don’t block the way.”
Su Xiao placed his hand atop Rin Tohsaka’s head, forcibly turning her body forward and giving her soft back a push.
“What do you actually know? Tell me…”
“Talk while walking.”
Su Xiao saw Rin Tohsaka’s expression and knew she wouldn’t completely believe his words, but his story was close enough.
Reality proved that a girl inexperienced with the world stood no chance against a cunning old fox.
“Your father, Toshiomi Tohsaka, was one of the masters back then, ranked in the top four in comprehensive strength, and his Heroic Spirit ranked first. The Archer-class King of Heroes, Gilgamesh, was almost the strongest Heroic Spirit at the time, provided he put away his arrogance.”
“Exactly.”
Upon hearing Su Xiao mention her father, Rin Tohsaka’s expression softened significantly, her chest puffed out proudly.
“However, your father had a ‘good student’ in Kirei Kotomine. Kirei Kotomine, being the offspring of Kotomine Lisei, also participated as a Master in that Holy Grail War, but unfortunately, his luck ran out, summoning what could be considered the weakest Heroic Spirit at the time. Your father and Kirei Kotomine were not originally teacher and student. Instead, Kirei’s father, Kotomine Lisei, was the supervisor of the previous Holy Grail War and an Agent of the Holy Church. The old priest, Kotomine Lisei, also coveted the Holy Grail, so he established a teacher-student relationship between his offspring and your father, Toshiomi Tohsaka, to form an alliance. Two Masters and two Heroic Spirits—with this mutual exploitation, they held a significant advantage back then.”
Feeling idle, Su Xiao decided to stir Rin Tohsaka’s desire for power, rooted in the revenge for the murder of her father.
“How do you know these things?”
Rin Tohsaka slowed her pace, walking alongside Su Xiao.
“Because I was the berserker in the last Holy Grail War.”
“Ha? You? A berserker?”
Rin Tohsaka was bewildered because Su Xiao didn’t look like a berserker in any way.
“That’s not the point. After your father cooperated with Kirei Kotomine, their initial cooperation was quite cohesive until Kirei persuaded your father’s Heroic Spirit, Gilgamesh. The rest was simple: one day, your father gave Kirei Kotomine a dagger, which Kirei used to stab your father in the back, killing him. As for the whereabouts of that sword, Kirei Kotomine seemed to have handed it over to someone else.”
Upon reaching this part of his narrative, Rin Tohsaka stopped dead in her tracks; Kirei Kotomine had given her that dagger many years ago, assuming her guess was correct.
“What are the characteristics of that sword?”
Rin Tohsaka lowered her head, her breathing somewhat rapid.
“Wide blade, with a ruby seemingly embedded in the hilt.”
Even though Su Xiao had never actually seen the sword, he could gather information from various sources. As for revealing this canonical information to Rin Tohsaka, there was no significant risk; Su Xiao’s combat effectiveness completely overwhelmed Rin Tohsaka.
“Was it Kirei Kotomine who killed my father?”
The news was a significant blow to Rin Tohsaka internally, but she remained skeptical of Su Xiao’s claim.
“So, you plan to seek revenge? Forget it. You’re far from being Kirei Kotomine’s match, and don’t expect me to help you.”
“You… evil bloke.”
Rin Tohsaka was at a loss for words. Su Xiao had disclosed who killed her father but had no intention of aiding her revenge. In reality, even though anger filled Rin Tohsaka’s heart, she wouldn’t let vengeance cloud her judgment. After all, she was a magician, and her father perished in a Holy Grail War.
“You mentioned earlier about making me stronger. How will that happen? I don’t want to turn into a monster through some bizarre ritual.”
“Combat using the magical power contained within your command seals.”
“Fight with the magical power of the command seals?!”
Rin Tohsaka was dumbfounded, clearly not knowing what kind of trick this was.
