Chapter 1595: Old Acquaintance (4th Update)
Chapter 1595 -61: Old Acquaintance (4th Update)
On a mountain with lava flowing on its surface, a noticeable concave mark could be seen halfway up. This used to be Mist Castle, but now, only a small part remains. The rest has been vaporized or melted into lava by the Sun Flame.
“Cough cough cough…”
A dry cough echoed from the hollow of the mountain. A witch, charred black all over, lay prone on the ground. Only a small half of her upper body remained, the rest incinerated into ashes by the intense heat.
“This is…, Adelin, Adelin?”
After calling out twice, the woman realized that the nearby hunk of occasionally twitching charcoal was, in fact, the Adelin she was calling.
“Are they… all dead?”
Calming down quickly, the woman pinched her own throat, applying force to snap her neck with a crisp crack. The sheen in her pupils swiftly faded away.
After a few seconds, a white arm emerged from the corpse’s spine, pressing onto the ground.
Blood splattered as the woman crawled out of her own body, now completely unscathed.
Sizzle, sizzle…
The sound of shoes burning came forth as the woman turned her head to see a man in a long leather coat, holding a long knife.
“Mo Yi·Nora?”
The man holding the long knife spoke.
“Did you do this?”
“Seems like it, Carmen, you can take action on your side. I’m in Mist Valley, and the witches here? All dead. Move quickly; I don’t want to engage with an undead enemy for too long.”
Upon hearing Su Xiao’s words, the naked Mo Yi·Nora twitched an eye.
Although not exceptionally beautiful, Mo Yi·Nora possessed a unique temperament—neither as cold nor as eerie as other witches. She emanated unyielding strength, as if nothing could bring her down, instilling a sense of security in others—it’s a natural leader’s aura.
Mo Yi·Nora made a gripping gesture with one hand, and a scepter quickly manifested—a scepter about one-and-a-half meters long, with its tip densely inlaid with over a dozen gemstones, representing Avatar Fragments of successive Mo Yi Family Heads.
Clang!
The scepter struck the ground, releasing a shockwave spreading outwards as Mo Yi·Nora’s golden hair fluttered.
“Blood for blood.”
Hatred nearly solidified in Mo Yi·Nora’s eyes. Unlike Moris, she didn’t treat her witch subordinates as chess pieces but entrusted them with crucial responsibilities. Mo Yi·Nora believed in them, just as they were willing to die for her.
Mo Yi·Nora held influential sway in the Southern part not by brute force or cruel methods—Moris was cunning and ruthless but could only reign over the tiny area of Westport, and even someone as hardy as Kai was heartbroken by Moris’s hands.
If Kai served under Mo Yi·Nora, she would undoubtedly be willing to die for her.
Mo Yi·Nora’s momentum grew stronger, prompting Su Xiao to take action without hesitation, disregarding the fiery ground beneath him as he charged towards Mo Yi·Nora with a bang.
Shing~
With a gentle hum from the long knife, Su Xiao instantaneously appeared before Mo Yi·Nora.
Clang! A crisp sound!
Sparks flew several meters high as Mo Yi·Nora horizontally raised the scepter in her hand, daringly blocking Su Xiao’s cleave, a shockwave spreading outwards as the ground beneath them shattered.
“Iwa!”
Mo Yi·Nora shouted low, stomping the ground as dark rock spikes burst from below, aiming for Su Xiao’s lower body.
An Energy Shield manifested under Su Xiao’s feet, the dark rock spike tips screeching against it—a grating, piercing sound.
Lifted by the rock spikes, Su Xiao’s blade cut across the scepter, deepening the slash mark. Seeing this, Mo Yi·Nora’s expression soured—the blade in Su Xiao’s hand was far too sharp.
“Flame.”
Boom! A fire explosion suddenly appeared around Su Xiao, a buzzing sound in his ears as his body felt faintly painful.
“Electric.”
Mo Yi·Nora aimed her scepter at Su Xiao, a bright arc of electricity shooting towards him.
“Wind Queen.”
Before the electricity could strike Su Xiao, countless Wind Blades spread out from Mo Yi·Nora as the center.
Sizzle, an electric arc enveloped Su Xiao, tingling sensations coursing through his body. Ignoring the discomfort, he slashed forward, disintegrating incoming Wind Blades with several strikes.
After just a few rounds of exchanges, Su Xiao was surprised to find Mo Yi·Nora wasn’t a witch controlling one element alone. She could manipulate Earth Element, Fire Element, Thunder Element, and Wind Element simultaneously.
Electric arcs crackled over Su Xiao’s body, the sensation of electrocution beyond mere words of pleasure.
Seeing Su Xiao’s condition, Mo Yi·Nora’s anger surged—such an enemy had wiped out all her confidants.
However, Su Xiao merely wished to conserve stamina rather than fight a desperate battle with Mo Yi·Nora prematurely, not before eliminating Misfortune. He revealed himself to prevent Mo Yi·Nora from escaping; Carmen had promised to settle things in ten minutes at the most. If Su Xiao didn’t trust those old chaps, he wouldn’t have collaborated with them.
Meanwhile, at the edge of the White Forest, inside the Mud Altar.
The rumbling sounds echoed as Carmen wielded the Wand Whip in his hand. The four witches in front of him could only barely hold on. At this moment, urgent footsteps approached; it was the Drunkard and the Witch’s Grave arriving.
The three had split up to act, and upon reaching here, they regrouped. It took less than half a minute before four bodies lay on the ground.
“I never thought Misfortune would be so afraid of death, not daring to charge out even now. The Undead Witch·Misfortune actually fears death. Interesting.”
The Drunkard gulped down several large swigs of liquor. This might be his last time drinking.
“Cuchulainn has already engaged with Mo Yi·Nora on that side; it’s time.”
Carmen slowly unbuttoned his coat, revealing a thin and scarred torso.
“It seems you plan to use that, but coming here, I never intended to leave alive.”
A sinister laugh came from the Witch’s Grave, as blue lines spread from his collar, creeping across his face. This time, he did not control the blue lines but let them spread across his face.
The white hair of the Witch’s Grave began to fall out, and that was not all; the skin and flesh on his face also started to fall off in chunks, appearing exceptionally horrifying.
If only the Witch’s Grave were like this, it would be fine. Carmen and the Drunkard were both the same. Moments later, the three of them had heads that were a mangled mess of flesh and blood; those blood-red eye cavities didn’t seem human at all.
At this moment, the three could no longer be considered human; they resembled three evil spirits.
“Hoo~”
Carmen exhaled a mist of blood, dropped the Wand Whip in his hand, and stepped towards a metal door.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
With three kicks from Carmen, the metal door, which could only be opened by an institution, was kicked open with a resounding boom. Inside stood nearly a hundred witches in a spacious Sacrificial Hall.
“What are… these devilish things.”
A witch in the Sacrificial Hall began to tremble as she watched the slow approach of Carmen and the other two.
“Doesn’t matter what they are, kill them.”
As this witch finished speaking, a gust of wind filled with the stench of blood surged in. The blood-and-flesh mangled Witch’s Grave suddenly appeared in front of her and grinned. As he grinned, his whole face seemed to rip open.
Behind over a hundred witches, a witch clad in a gray robe, sitting cross-legged on the ground, looked up. She… was somewhat fearful, as the aura of those three things was not something Bioenergy could emit.
Roaring sounds and screams successively resonated.
Five minutes later.
Drip, drip…
Blood dripped from Carmen’s fingertips. His hands were already stripped bare of skin and flesh, leaving only the skeletal remains. Next to his foot was a twisted corpse, seemingly bitten, with the Witch’s Grave’s head still biting the corpse’s neck.
“Cuchulainn, we’ve taken care of things on our side, remember, you have only half an hour.”
Just as Carmen was speaking, his leg bone suddenly fractured, and not just the leg bone; the bones all over his body began to shatter inch by inch.
Carmen lay back on the ground, the shine in his eyes dimming rapidly. In his moments of fading consciousness, he recalled past events.
Inside the blazing wooden house, smoke billowed.
‘Sister, mother, it’s me, Carmen. Cough, cough. What’s wrong with you? Hurry, get out, this place is about to…’
Inside the farm’s barn.
‘Father! Sister and mother have turned into monsters; they even bit my leg. Wuaa~, I think I’m crippled. Fa…ther?’
In front of three new graves.
‘Father, I will definitely kill three witches to avenge you. No, three hundred!’
The limping boy walked away; his name was Patrick Carmen, the son of a farmer.
…
As Carmen perished, within the Mist Valley, a depression halfway up the mountain.
Bang!
Su Xiao flew backward, droplets of blood splattering as Wind Element and Fire Element scattered. Not far away, Mo Yi·Nora clutched her chest with one hand, cross-cuts crisscrossed her front, and what frightened her was that these wounds could not heal.
Su Xiao wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and put away the Short Knife; this was the [Soul Walker], and as long as it wounded, Mo Yi·Nora’s ability to recover was extremely low.
Removing the wireless earphone from his ear, Dragon Slash appeared in Su Xiao’s hand. With him as the epicenter, blood energy surged forth—the battle officially began!
Just as Su Xiao was about to charge forward, Mo Yi·Nora across from him suddenly froze on the spot. A surge of golden energy appeared in her hand, and from her confused expression, it was clear she had no idea what was happening.
“Accept me; you are worthy, Mo Yi·Nora!”
Seeing this golden energy, Su Xiao’s eye twitched; an ‘old acquaintance’ seemed to have arrived.
