Chapter 1577 - 43: Crownless Lord

Chapter 1577: Chapter 43: Crownless Lord

The feeling given by the Crownless Lord and Moris is entirely different. Moris exudes a queenly aura, appearing approachable with a leader’s majesty, but in reality, she is extremely ruthless. She often wins people’s hearts but sacrifices her subordinates without hesitation when necessary.

The Crownless Lord, on the other hand, gives off a very pure impression. He is a warrior who can die for honor. He disdains conspiracies and deceit. After Moris gained his power, he could instantly control her but chose not to, even actively exposing his own presence.

If Moris were worthy of this power, the Crownless Lord would even choose to leave her body and eventually fade away. Unfortunately, Moris disappointed him, completely misusing his power, even being influenced by it.

The way Moris chose to obtain the Crownless Lord’s power had already earned his disdain, and coupled with her being beaten into self-doubt by Su Xiao in close combat, it enraged the Crownless Lord. His power isn’t something a close-combat weakling like her deserves.

Did the Crownless Lord usurp Moris and seize her body? At first glance, it seemed so, but that wasn’t the case. Moris couldn’t withstand the Crownless Lord’s test and therefore couldn’t gain his power.

The Crownless Lord walked slowly towards Su Xiao, emanating a pressure that Moris couldn’t match. Previously, Moris was a witch wielding a Holy Sword, only fighting with its auxiliary abilities. Now, however, its true master had arrived.

Clang!

The Sword of Light burst forth with golden brilliance as the Crownless Lord casually swung a sword, sending a golden blade aura slashing into the wall on the side.

With a tinkling sound, the golden blade aura embedded into the wall, not fading like a solid piece.

Su Xiao glanced at the blade aura, roughly evaluating the Crownless Lord’s swordsmanship. He had to admit that his sword skill level surpassed Su Xiao’s sword technique.

Fine cracks appeared on the Crownless Lord’s shoulder, but he simply glanced and ignored it.

Su Xiao took a deep breath and also walked slowly towards the Crownless Lord. The distance between them gradually closed. When they were ten meters apart, they vanished simultaneously.

Clang, clang, clang...

Golden blade auras collided with blue blade auras, dazzling the eyes. Two figures weaved through the gaps between the blade auras.

Boom!

The sword and long knife clashed, causing the surrounding ground to crack inch by inch.

The long knife in Su Xiao’s hand turned, deflecting the Crownless Lord’s longsword. Seizing this opportunity, the long knife maneuvered to slash at the Crownless Lord’s throat as its blade brushed past the sword’s ridge.

The Crownless Lord squinted, pressing his longsword down with a click to lock Dragon Slash with the sword’s guard, simultaneously kicking towards Su Xiao’s abdomen.

With a bang, the Crownless Lord’s kick landed on Su Xiao’s abdomen. The sensation from the kick alerted the Crownless Lord that something was amiss.

Blue crystal fragments scattered as Su Xiao feigned a slash, using the force from the kick to retreat just in time to evade the slash heading towards his throat. The Crownless Lord’s attack, with a kick to the abdomen and a slash to the throat, mirrored Su Xiao’s strategy against Moris earlier, only this time with different results.

A blade aura flew past the Crownless Lord’s ear, slicing through a piece of it as the Blue Steel Shadow Energy penetrated the wound. The Crownless Lord chuckled; this was the power inheritor he awaited.

While the Crownless Lord fought, another consciousness resided within him—Moris. Compared to the Crownless Lord’s strong will, she only resisted briefly at the start before becoming an accessory to his primary consciousness.

Now, Moris finally understood why the Crownless Lord claimed she was unworthy of such power because it was meant for close combat.

After Su Xiao flew backward for a distance and stopped, several energy thorns over a meter long appeared around him. Not far away, the Crownless Lord made a grabbing motion, and those energy thorns attacked Su Xiao from all directions.

The formation of these golden energy thorns was so sudden and unexpected that Su Xiao could only duck to avoid the one targeting his head, not even having time to form an energy shield.

Thud, thud, thud...

Four energy thorns pierced through Su Xiao’s legs, left arm, and abdomen. As Su Xiao bit and pulled out the energy thorn from his left arm, the Crownless Lord charged at him with his longsword in hand.

Continuous booming sounds echoed for ten minutes.

Holding his neck with one hand, Su Xiao panted heavily, blood dripping from Dragon Slash. Light blue energy surged across his body. The Crownless Lord, not far away, fared no better, his body riddled with cracks, chest, and abdomen crisscrossed by slash marks.

The light blue energy on Su Xiao’s surface was nothing else but the activation of the Demonic Hunt Time. The Crownless Lord’s combat strength was beyond fierce, and he was in a different league than Moris before.

Now, Su Xiao’s mana value was down to only 260 points. Fortunately, Demonic Hunt Time had 30 seconds left, so he didn’t have to worry about mana consumption during this period; stamina was the real concern.

If he could check the Crownless Lord’s data, Su Xiao could confirm that this guy’s swordsmanship level was at least Grandmaster Level 20 or even higher.

Su Xiao’s condition was terrible, but the Crownless Lord was equally grim. After being maniacally slashed for over 20 seconds by Su Xiao’s Demonic Hunt Time, he barely adapted to Su Xiao’s elusive style. If not for his incredible speed, he would have already died under Su Xiao’s blade.

Crack~

A crack appeared on the Crownless Lord’s chest. Seeing this crack, he shook his head.

"What a pity, until we meet again."

As soon as the Crownless Lord finished speaking, his body fell to the side, rapidly transforming back to Moris’ appearance along with her features, height, and feminine traits.

Moris slammed onto the ground, her eyes abruptly opening. Instinctively, she wanted to rise, but unfortunately, she couldn’t. The injuries her body suffered were too severe to support this simple action.

"Witch Hunter, let’s talk..."

Splurt, a blade aura sliced through, severing Moris’ throat.

Su Xiao drove his long knife into the ground, gasping for several seconds before quickly walking towards Moris.

"Wait, wait, I still..."

Moris seemed unwilling. In reality, if it were only to deal with her, Su Xiao wouldn’t need to activate Demonic Hunt Time.

With one slash, he pierced Moris’ throat. A few seconds later, after receiving the kill notification, Su Xiao tossed Moris’ body to the side and collapsed to the ground.

Severe blood loss, more than five broken ribs, legs pierced, abdomen pierced, left arm nearly numb.

Compared to Su Xiao, the Hunter he summoned fared worse, being cut into dozens of pieces by the Crownless Lord.

The Crownless Lord was a significantly powerful being. Had he been alive, Su Xiao wouldn’t have been his match, but he was already dead and controlling a body unfamiliar with swordsmanship.

During the Crownless Lord’s combat, his soul and Moris’ body exhibited severe rejection reactions; the ceramic-like cracks on his body were the most direct sign of the soul and body’s rejection.

Ensuring there were no threats around, Su Xiao lay on the ground and lit a cigarette. While he didn’t know where the Crownless Lord came from, it didn’t matter. What mattered was that he won.

When the Crownless Lord fell, he didn’t make excuses about body and soul rejection; all excuses only masked the failure.

Bubu Wang appeared, limping towards Su Xiao with a not-so-shallow slash on its side rib. Previously, Bubu was exceptionally fierce, taking a bite at the Crownless Lord’s rear. The Crownless Lord’s astonished expression was deeply etched in Su Xiao’s memory. In exchange, Bubu Wang nearly got sliced in half by the Crownless Lord.
