Chapter 1504: Chapter 27: Luring the Enemy

Su Xiao kicked away the massive corpse in front of him. The huge body was casually kicked flying by him, and he turned to walk towards the stone wall.

[You have killed Danbō.]

[Danbō was the White Road Gate Guardian. You have gained 0.8% World Source, a total of 0.8% World Source obtained.]

[Your Talent ’Soul Eater’ activated, permanently increasing Mana Value by 9 points, current maximum Mana Value is 6085 points.]

[You have obtained a Treasure Box (Purple).]

...

The White Road Gate Guardian sounded intimidating but was actually not much to speak of, being slain by Su Xiao with a single Blade Aura. Of course, this was related to his Sword Technique being elevated to Grandmaster Level.

Su Xiao approached the stone wall forged from Killing Stone, which for Soul Reapers, is nearly indestructible, blocking the spirits.

Clang, clang, clang...

Several flashes of blade light passed, and Su Xiao’s Dragon Slash slowly returned to its sheath.

Boom!

The massive shattered stones fell. What was indestructible to Soul Reapers was merely solid stone to Su Xiao under his Sword Technique. He did not fight using Spiritual Pressure.

Stepping on the broken stones, Su Xiao walked towards Hollows Street, passing through the housing area and continuing to delve deeper until he reached a forest.

The night wind blew, making the leaves rustle.

"Come out."

Su Xiao leaned against a sky-reaching tree as a scruffy man emerged from the darkness; it was Ying.

"Do you need me to kill anyone?"

Ying held a jug of wine in his hand, his tattered clothes still stained with droplets of blood.

"If battle ensues here, block anyone from entering this forest. Or rather, as long as you live, no one can enter here."

"Understood."

Ying vanished into the darkness. Rather than having Ying assist in the battle, Su Xiao needed him more as an insurance policy.

...

At the Guard Court Thirteen Teams’ Seventh Division base in Jingling Court, in an old house.

Under dim light, a burly figure sat cross-legged on a wooden bed, his eyes closed, with armor placed beside him.

Crunch, crunch...

Biting sounds came from the courtyard, causing the burly figure to open his eyes.

"Goshin, stop chewing things."

Just as the burly figure finished speaking, a big dog stepped out from the next room.

"Wasn’t it Goshin?"

The burly figure stood up, taking a few steps forward. Under the dim light, it was vaguely visible that his head was not human but resembled some kind of canine.

The burly figure is named Komamura Sajin, Captain of the Seventh Division of the Guard Court Thirteen Teams, a Soul Reaper transformed from a non-human soul.

Overall, Komamura Sajin is a ’Half-Beastman’ with a human body and a dog’s head. Although his head looks like a kind of canine, he is actually a wolf.

Komamura Sajin quickly approached the sliding door, sliding it open with a noise. The courtyard was bathed in silver by the moonlight.

"What is this..."

Komamura Sajin looked at the creature in the courtyard that resembled a rat, frowning, as this rat was too large, and its abdomen was wounded with a bent black iron rod stuck in it.

Following the iron rod with his eyes, Komamura Sajin’s pupils gradually contracted as he recognized what it was: clearly, it was half a pair of glasses, with the lenses already shattered.

Komamura Sajin reacted this way because these were the same glasses worn by Aizen. As a fellow captain, Komamura Sajin definitely remembered the glasses Aizen wore.

Komamura Sajin was very puzzled. He had seen Aizen’s dead body, and the glasses Aizen was wearing were intact.

The big rat also noticed Komamura Sajin and quickly turned to flee. Using the cover of the night and its size advantage, it dashed out of the courtyard in a few swift moves.

After a moment of hesitation, Komamura Sajin dashed to the wooden bed, quickly grabbing the armor and Zanpakutō before rushing out of the courtyard.

"Someone come!"

Komamura Sajin shouted. He certainly wouldn’t chase alone, but no Soul Reapers came rushing at that moment, not because they had abandoned their posts, but due to a timing issue: five minutes ago, a squad of Soul Reapers passed by Komamura Sajin’s residence.

Looking at the rapidly escaping big rat, Komamura Sajin realized that if he didn’t pursue it, the big rat would soon disappear from his sight.

Just then, a figure in black and white jumped out from the darkness, pinning the big rat down with one paw.

Seeing this, Komamura Sajin felt slightly relieved. He hadn’t given chase because he feared it was an enemy trap.

Komamura Sajin observed the figure leaping from the darkness: it was a large dog with a black and white coat.

"Come here."

Komamura Sajin clapped his hands, trying to make his aura appear friendly, but the big dog didn’t fall for it. Instead, it took a few steps back, seemingly afraid of Komamura Sajin.

"Don’t be afraid. I won’t harm you. We are the same kind, see."

Komamura Sajin pointed to his own head, but the big dog continued to retreat and vanished into the darkness.

"Don’t go."

Just as Komamura Sajin was about to follow, he was surprised to find that the big dog disappeared. A few seconds later, the big dog emerged from a distant alley, running quickly into the distance.

Had it just been the big rat, Komamura Sajin would need to weigh his options before deciding to give chase. The reason for pursuit was simple: that half pair of glasses might be related to Aizen’s death. Komamura Sajin certainly wouldn’t overlook such critical information.

The appearance of the black and white dog allowed Komamura Sajin to relax his guard a bit, as he recognized this dog as the stray adopted by the Fourth Division’s researchers.

As Komamura Sajin hesitated, a patrolling squad of Soul Reapers passed by nearby, prompting him to quickly put on a bamboo mask.

"You all."

Komamura Sajin shouted, startling the squad of Soul Reapers, as after all, he was their captain.

"Captain?"

"Follow me."

Komamura Sajin charged forward.

"Eh?"

"Chase that dog!"

"Oh, oh, got it."

A total of twelve Soul Reapers followed behind Komamura Sajin, chasing rapidly.

"Awooo~"

The big dog ahead let out a ’mournful cry’, clearly startled by Komamura Sajin.

Komamura Sajin barely pursued for five minutes before stopping because the surroundings became too quiet. He had reached the outskirts of the Seventh Division’s base yet hadn’t encountered any other Soul Reapers.

Just as Komamura Sajin prepared to gather personnel for a wide-scale search, a strong scent of blood reached him.

Under the night sky, a massive corpse lay on the ground. Komamura Sajin immediately approached.

"Danbō!"

Komamura Sajin hastily inspected the corpse; something was definitely amiss.

With a swoosh, a shadow emerged from the night.

"Wail, Huang Quan."

One by one, red lines of blood appeared, the dozen or so Soul Reapers behind Komamura Sajin stood frozen, these lines piercing through their bodies.

"Wail, Huang...Quan?"

Komamura Sajin stood frozen, recognizing this Zanpakutō.

"Zuo Zongwei is already supposed to be dead. How can there be the same Zanpakutō..."

"Captain, help!"

A desperate female voice cried out. Among the dozen or so Soul Reapers, only one female survived, but she was captured alive by the shadow, which had already rushed out of the Jingling Court area, heading straight towards Hollows Street.

"Wait, Zuo Zongwei, is it you? What are you doing!"

Just as Komamura Sajin shouted, the shadow in front halted, glancing at Komamura Sajin.

"It really is... you, Zuo Zongwei!"

Komamura Sajin’s voice was filled with disbelief.

"Perhaps it’s me. If you don’t want her to die, then follow me. Someone wants to meet you."

The Zuo Zongwei in Komamura Sajin’s mouth was actually Ying.
