Chapter 1424: Chapter 46: You’re Too Ugly

In a six-story building diagonally opposite the Flower Tree Restaurant, behind a glass window, the curtain was almost drawn tight, leaving only a small gap.

Behind the curtain, a sniper cannon over three meters long was set up, supported by a metal stand below.

Su Xiao pulled the bolt of the Duke of Extinction’s rifle, chambering a thunder attribute bullet. He glanced at the timer beside him; 47 minutes remained until the banquet’s commencement.

The room Su Xiao occupied was in a luxury hotel, which provided the best sniping position he could find. Due to the proximity and using a thermal sensing device, he could lock onto anyone inside the Flower Tree Restaurant.

Walking to the window, Su Xiao looked towards the diagonally opposite Flower Tree Restaurant.

The Flower Tree Restaurant was truly magnificent, housed in a domed building with a red carpet laid out front. Young men and women in formal attire stood beside the red carpet, with security personnel at the outer ring, all of them armed, and their keen eyes marked them as ex-soldiers off the battlefield.

A slightly plump middle-aged man, not overly dressed in luxury, stood among the porters. He was none other than Hennasen, one of the two main figures of this banquet.

Hennasen was polite with every guest. When those minor officials or businessmen saw Hennasen himself standing at the door to greet them, each appeared flattered, yet they all knew Hennasen was waiting for someone.

A carriage departed from the restaurant entrance, followed by a dark green jeep slowly moving forward. Upon seeing this jeep, Hennasen’s eyes lit up as he quickly stepped forward.

"Hahaha, Du Bo, you’re late."

Hennasen laughed as he approached the car door. A middle-aged man with a little moustache on his chin, dressed in a grey military uniform, stepped out. His hair was somewhat grizzled, and several medals adorned his chest.

"Important duties held me, please don’t mind."

The man who stepped out of the car was Du Bo · Yi Si, and he embraced Hennasen warmly.

"Hahaha."

Hennasen seemed to enjoy laughing heartily as they exchanged a few whispering words before both smiling.

At that moment, another figure emerged from the jeep. This figure was holding a bottle of beer, let out a burp, and followed closely behind Du Bo · Yi Si.

It was Buck, still in the same outfit as always: a red short-sleeve shirt, with shoes that seemed untouched by cleaning for who knows how long. Judging by his physique, he appeared slightly bulkier, a result of the bandages beneath his clothes.

"He’s here."

Buck lit a lousy cigar and took a deep drag, his gaze seemingly vacant. However, his eyes subtly scanned around, able to detect any hidden enemies the moment they locked eyes with him.

Du Bo · Yi Si, conversing with Hennasen, narrowed his eyes.

"This is..."

Hennasen, sharp as ever, immediately sensed something was amiss.

"Just a minor issue."

Du Bo · Yi Si patted Hennasen’s shoulder and, out of sight, gave Buck a glance.

"How did you sense it?"

A woman wearing the Sun Kingdom’s military uniform stepped out of the car. Her figure was voluptuous, but unfortunately, her once beautiful face was marred by scars.

"Instinct. That guy wouldn’t give up."

Buck chuckled, revealing his steel teeth, which made him look quite intimidating, causing surrounding guests to instinctively step back two steps.

"Instinct? Nonsense, Buck, you’re probably hoping that ghost comes."

The scar-faced woman showed some displeasure.

"Heh."

Buck said nothing, merely following Du Bo · Yi Si into the restaurant.

"Tch."

With a tap from the scar-faced woman’s high heels, the marble floor underneath revealed fine cracks.

Inside the hotel diagonally opposite.

Su Xiao adjusted the position of the surveillance camera. He did not observe the opposite restaurant through the window but rather used monitoring equipment. Directly using his eyes to observe could lead to exposure the moment he accidentally locked eyes with Buck.

"Bu Bu, the little assistant is about to arrive. Get ready to meet her."

Su Xiao pressed the wireless earpiece mounted on his ear. At the time, in the Flower Tree Restaurant’s back kitchen, Bubu Wang had just picked up a freshly baked dessert, devouring it in one large bite, and after licking the plate, placed it back on the kitchen table.

Bubu moved through the crowd, quickly making its way to the front hall.

A carriage stopped in front of the restaurant’s entrance. The coachman opened the door and set up the foot mat, from within the carriage, a fair and well-toned leg emerged.

The little assistant took a deep breath, feeling slightly constricted by the ’instrument’ at her chest, forcibly squeezing her pair of C into a D.

The sound of conversation and laughter flooded the little assistant’s ears. As she looked around, there were at least dozens of people at the restaurant entrance, with more than thirty porters alone.

"It seems... different from my aunt’s banquet."

The night breeze brushed past, invigorating the little assistant’s spirit. She stepped onto the red carpet with an elegant gait.

"Madam, please cooperate with the check."

A male attendant blocked the little assistant, and immediately a female attendant approached; of course, it would be a young woman checking the little assistant.

"Why don’t they need to be checked?"

The little assistant pouted, her expression somewhat displeased.

"I’m sorry."

The male attendant maintained a smile but offered no explanation.

Bubu Wang crouched at the restaurant’s inner door as Du Bo · Yi Si and Buck walked past it.

Bubu raised a paw to the little assistant, in a gesture similar to giving a thumbs-up, meaning: "Nice acting."

The little assistant, with a ’displeased expression’ but not daring to create trouble, underwent the check and, led by a female attendant, proceeded inside the restaurant.

The little assistant brushed past Bubu Wang. As they passed, Bubu Wang kicked the little assistant, handing her a small iron can. Almost instantly, the little assistant skillfully hooked its toe, lodging the can on the underside of her skirt.

The little assistant continued as normal, while Bubu Wang was the first to enter the banquet hall on the ground floor, starting to install surveillance equipment openly.

Ten minutes later, Bubu Wang had installed 17 micro-cameras within the banquet hall, providing near-zero blind spot monitoring of the hall’s situation.

Su Xiao quickly received the signal. He pulled out four tablets, remotely controlling the micro-cameras, capturing the entire situation within the banquet hall. The next step was simple: wait.

The banquet began promptly at 8 p.m. Attendants circulated within the hall, serving wine and fruit drinks. The dining tables showcased various exquisite foods, awaiting the guests, reminiscent of a luxurious buffet.

The banquet hall was filled with hundreds of guests, most of whom were dignitaries. They seemed disinterested in the fine wines and exquisite foods, instead gathering in small groups of three or five for idle chatter.

Amidst the crowd, the little assistant seemed somewhat bewildered, sniffing the air as the fragrant aromas of food wafted into her nose. It was apparent that first sneaking a meal was more pragmatic, considering her role as a young mistress from a fallen family, where dietary conditions likely weren’t the best.

Eyeing the dazzling display of food, the little assistant swallowed hard.

"Eat, feign elegance while eating."

Su Xiao’s voice reached the little assistant’s ears, granting her the green light to proceed as she revealed a smile.

The little assistant picked up a plate; just as she prepared to dig in, Su Xiao’s voice came again.

"That’s decor. Eat the food on the adjacent table."

The little assistant froze momentarily, curious why a cake still had flowers stuck on it.

"Miss, may I have this dance?"

A male voice spoke from beside the little assistant.

"No."

The little assistant couldn’t dance; she’d be more adept at an assassination.

"Huh~"

Taken aback by such a straightforward rejection, the young man behind the little assistant was stunned, though her graceful figure left him unwilling to relent.

"One must always have a reason to turn someone down. May I ask the reason you’re turning me down?"

With a smile in his eyes, the young man believed the little assistant to be intriguing.

"You’re too ugly... Mm~"

The little assistant hadn’t finished saying ’too ugly’ when she received a kick from Bubu Wang beside her.

"What?"

The young man was bewildered, faintly hearing something about being ugly.
