Chapter 1355 - 66: Pursuit
Chapter 1355: Chapter 66: Pursuit
"Looks like it’s really not Lan Zuo."
A deep male voice emanated from beneath the black hood, with light twisting around it. The hooded man vanished, coming and going without a trace. His attacks were akin to a storm, ruthless and deadly – this was the true Invisible Series.
Lightning and Shield Wall, a shadow flitted through; the three, Lan Zuo, had already broken out of the wine house. In reality, there weren’t many Lone Wolves surrounding them; a third were keeping an eye on Barbartray, another third had left to chase Su Xiao, and the remaining third were wavering between besieging Lan Zuo and loafing around.
Once Barbartray was taken down in a second, the Lone Wolves inside the wine house knew what was going on. Either Lan Zuo had taken Roger’s gun, or the first Sniper to fire had gotten it; there were no other possibilities.
"It’s the Sniper."
"I feel like it’s more of Lan Zuo’s tragic play."
"That guy... really acts out a tragic play?"
The Contractors inside the wine house vanished, leaving behind only Barbartray sprawled on the ground, convulsing and spewing Black Blood from head to toe.
Gurgle, gurgle...
Muscles surged across Barbartray’s body. With a crack, his back split open, revealing a pair of claws devoid of skin, raw muscle exposed, dripping with blood.
"Poisonous Python! Sniper!"
An angry roar spread from the wine house as its epicenter, shattering the glass windows of surrounding buildings instantly. An Invisible Contract User who had rushed out of the wine house smiled.
"Barbartray... seems angry."
The Invisible Contract User glanced at the two large Soul Crystals in his hand, somewhat admiring Lan Zuo’s decisiveness. If he were in Lan Zuo’s position, surrounded and in a patsy role, while he too could escape, he couldn’t do it as perfectly. Not only did Lan Zuo escape unscathed, but he also shifted the grudge and gained a temporary ally.
Outside the wine house, the three of Lan Zuo stood atop a residential building.
"There’s no chasing, we’re not running."
Lan Zuo cursed at the Lone Wolves behind them. These Lone Wolves weren’t easygoing either; some flipped their middle fingers at Lan Zuo, while others sarcastically asked about Lan Zuo’s many generations of female Direct Lineage ancestors.
"Let them follow, if you really didn’t take the gun, they’re all allies."
The Masked Man spoke. She had chosen to cooperate with Lan Zuo to guard against Lan Zuo grabbing Roger’s gun. Sometimes staying closer to the enemy wasn’t a bad idea. With so many Lone Wolves behind, the Masked Man wasn’t afraid of Lan Zuo teaming up with Iron Tank against her.
Iron Tank remained silent all along. He belonged to the type who’s ruthless yet says little. His cooperation with Lan Zuo wasn’t for profit but to uphold a certain promise.
"Tank, how many shots can you block from that guy?"
Lan Zuo looked at Iron Tank.
"Three."
"That’s enough," Lan Zuo turned his gaze to the Masked Man: "Little Wildcat, no problem tracking him, right?"
Hearing Lan Zuo’s nickname, "Little Wildcat," the Masked Man narrowed her eyes.
"Call me cat again, and I’ll make that video public. I’m a leopard."
The black close-fitting shirt at the Masked Man’s neck spread to her head, which was actually a light, soft Metal Armor.
The soft metal encased the Masked Man’s head, forming a technologically advanced helmet with prominent cat ears on top. It was a wildcat longing to become a leopard.
After the Head Armor appeared, the Masked Man’s tailbone Armor generated a tail resembling that of a feline creature.
The black cat tail flicked, and the detection device before the Masked Man’s eyes activated, turning the world into black and white, with only living creatures highlighted in red.
Beep, beep, beep...
An electronic sound resonated, and red light flickered in the Masked Man’s eyes.
"Twelve humans are moving to the perimeter of Zone 21; excluding eight of them, the remaining four have bio-energy reactions of: 26, 35, 43, 279. That’s it, no mistake, moving fast, stopped. This guy sensed my detection but didn’t locate me."
"It’s him, chase!"
Lan Zuo’s clenched fist crackled, and the lightning across his body turned more berserk.
"Then let’s go."
The ground under the Masked Man’s feet cracked extensively. With a bang, she turned into a shadow and darted forward.
Whoosh, whoosh...
The Masked Man leaped between buildings like a Black Cat, a streak of Arc Lightning flashing beside her, it was Lan Zuo, who was even faster.
"Do you even know the way!"
The Masked Man’s voice was a mix of mocking and an attempt to catch her breath as she sped forward.
"Of course, I don’t know."
Lan Zuo was quicker. Although he wasn’t sure of the target’s location, he could infer the direction the Masked Man was charging towards.
Whoosh, whoosh...
Silhouettes flickered between buildings. By now, unless they were utterly foolish Lone Wolves, practically everyone understood what was going on.
Thud, thud, thud...
Heavy footsteps echoed; Iron Tank was strong, but his speed was his flaw. Every step he took made the ground seem to shake.
With a squelching sound, a blood-drenched Monster leaped near Iron Tank. This creature resembled a lizard standing on two legs, exuding a foul, acrid scent.
"Calm down."
Iron Tank remained as few-worded as ever. Unfortunately, this Monster was so enraged it lost all Reason, charging directly at Iron Tank.
...
East of Zone 21, atop a domed structure, Su Xiao gripped the sharp apex with one hand, gazing towards the west; an enemy was pursuing.
Although Su Xiao didn’t perceive who was after him, a while ago, he felt someone watching; the needle-like prickle at his spine was impossible to ignore, and it wouldn’t relent.
"Already discovered?"
Su Xiao took out a remote device, roughly calculated the time, input a string of complex commands, and crushed it.
Two kilometers away from Su Xiao, Lan Zuo, and the Masked Man raced towards him, their speeds rapid.
The Masked Man treaded lightly on the glass roof without causing a crack, leaping far ahead.
In mid-air, the Masked Man raised her arm; a virtual screen popped out from her left forearm, displaying a map of the entire Shapodi Archipelago.
The map marked six points: Gold represented herself, Blue for Lan Zuo, Green for Iron Tank, Black for a certain Invisible Contract User, Grey for Barbartray, and Blood Red for Su Xiao.
"He’s stopped."
The Masked Man’s marking was a Rare Ability; as long as she remotely detected an enemy within a 20-kilometer radius, she could mark their location and track them.
"Good news."
Lan Zuo now wanted to do just one thing—kill that Sniper and get away.
"Barbartray who went Berserk is fighting Iron Tank; things aren’t looking good for Iron Tank."
The Masked Man tried to enlarge the map, but due to the distance, she couldn’t capture an image of that area. She had only launched a tiny satellite above the Shapodi Archipelago, with limited detection scope.
"No need to bother, he’s seeking death."
Lan Zuo’s words were cold and detached.
"Heartless guy, Iron Tank was so sincere, yet you abandon him?"
The Masked Man mocked, not fearing the Travel Group as a Lone Ranger at all.
"I meant Barbartray is seeking death."
...
Near the Powder Wine House, thick smoke and gunpowder permeated the air. A man fully clad in metal, about two meters tall, stood atop the ruins – it was Iron Tank.
Buzz~
A strong suction emanated from Iron Tank’s hand. With a crash, building debris flew, and a Longsword shot toward him. Rather than a Longsword, it was a blade-like cone sword.
The cone sword was pulled into Iron Tank’s left hand; his right arm was cloaked in a giant Arm Armor, with a hole at its center.
Iron Tank loaded the cone sword into the Arm Armor, which creaked and released a crisp crack. A shell case popped out from the Arm Armor.
"One piece, Golden Suit, consider today’s events nonexistent."
Fragmented words came from within the building debris.
Boom!
The cone sword pierced through the rubble, sending a shattered claw flying.
"Die."
After uttering "Die," Iron Tank crumpled to the ground with a thud.
