Chapter 536: Lethal Finance
Chapter 536: Lethal Finance
While Xu Feng busied himself with harvesting the juicy and delicious loot that were littered everywhere in the battlefield, elsewhere, an emergency meeting room was in session.
"Can anyone tell me why I just received a lot of congratulatory remarks from those damnable old men?" A man near his fifties shouted in a thunderous tone, his palm slamming down at the large table.
The impact of the slamming nearly caused everyone in the meeting room to shudder in fear and nervousness.
After all, this was the Lethal Finance headquarters and the person sitting at the center was none other than the current Vice President, Francis Richards.
His father, Derrick Richards was the President but had delegated most of the responsibilities to him already. Everything was initially smooth sailing, with his secret plan of improving the Lethal Corp at a rate faster than any others.
However, thanks to a few higher-ups within the meeting table, all of his planning had been foiled and turned to naught.
"I know my father allows you to personally make decisions without my permission regarding the Divine World, but that's only with the exception that the decision doesn't harm the overall foundation of the Lethal Corp and Lethal Finance!" Francis roared in fury as his eyes glared precisely at the three higher-ups who permitted the siege operation.
Previously, he was still laughing and hugging a bombshell woman, ready to enjoy a pleasant evening, only to be interrupted repeatedly. When one of his rivals dialed him to send his congratulations, he was dumbfounded.
Nevertheless, he merely thought his rival was trying to mess with him so he didn't dwell on it much. But no sooner than when he was about to strip his pants, another call came in, congratulating him again and again.
This continued on for a few more times, finally alerting Francis that something was amiss.
Sure enough, when he did some research and investigation, he nearly exploded and even shoved the bombshell woman away. Just seeing her at that moment was infuriating enough.
If his father learned that he was still fooling around with women while a major crisis had occurred, then he was going to have to step down from his Vice President role.
'These useless old fools higher-ups seriously need to die.' Francis wanted nothing more than to dump these foolish decision-makers into the landfill, buried along with non-recyclable trash.
Because of their actions, he was hit with collateral damage and now became a laughing stock among those in the same status as him.
He was in his goddamn fifties!
And this kind of crappy mess happened to him when it should have been only for those in their mid-30s?
How ridiculous was this!
The meeting room was deathly silent, with no one else by Francis talking. Still, he knew this was an opportunity to start limiting these senile old fools' authority.
Thus, he pressed on and snapped his fingers, indicating for his gorgeous beautiful hot secretary to play the video.
Almost everyone knew this secretary was more than just a secretary as she provided even more above and beyond services for Francis, but none cared about it. For men in his status, it was normal to see numerous women flocking to him regardless if he made a move or not.
Shortly after the secretary played the video, showcasing the stream recorded from Brian's side. They weren't able to save a copy of Xu Feng's stream, but that didn't mean they couldn't stream it themselves to keep a record.
Naturally, the stream went to private rather quickly when Brian realized they had lost, but it didn't matter much. Because Xu Feng's streaming side continued to have it online, nearly everyone could see Lethal Corp suffering a massive loss.
"Do you see the amazing command that the people sitting in here did?" Francis laughed sarcastically, his eyes gazing at the responsible people.
Without even being subtle one bit, almost everyone understood Francis was trying to put these three people on the chopping board.
Just like how fish become powerless once they are out of the water and laid on the chopping board, awaiting their inevitable fate of being chopped by a knife, Francis was doing the same for these three.
"Our reputation as a Super Guild has been dragged through the mud and this so-called Lin Feng has humiliated us. But that wasn't even the worst part. Our stocks have been on a steady decrease ever since news of it got out, with many questioning whether Lethal Finance could still be considered a top 200 company in the world!" Francis slammed his palm on the table once again.
"I supposed those who made the command should fork the amount of money that we lost during this process." Suddenly, one of the elders at the meeting table spoke up.
"It's indeed a misjudgment about the upstart Vanguard Guild, but it's a good lesson that the Divine World is trickier than we thought. Super Guilds would even have problems targeting an unknown upstart guild without proper investigation. I believe this is a good thing for our Lethal Finance to understand this pricey lesson for the better of the future."
Shortly after the one particular elder finished his statement, many quickly chimed in, having suggested that offering the compensation would be enough to nullify the fault.
After all, this particular elder could be considered as someone in Francis' father equal, namely Quinn Preston.
Aside from President Derrick Richards, Quinn Preston had the second-highest seniority.
Francis was expressionless on the surface, but silently, he was cursing at Quinn's suggestion.
'If I'm the one who caused the mess, then he would have ratted to my father and have him punished me. Did you seriously think I don't know you're one venomous bastard?' Francis screamed internally, but on the surface, he smiled lightly.
"Very well, since Elder Quinn has spoken, the three individuals must compensate for the losses within three days. Additionally, they are temporarily barred from holding any authority related to Lethal Corp until my father provides his input on the matter." He stood up, announced this decision, and swiftly exited the meeting room.
