Chapter 516: Bottom of the Abyss
Chapter 516: Bottom of the Abyss
.comy Virtual Library Empire
The Sentinel didn't have the time to react to the precipice dropping down.
Such a puny precipice wasn't even going to harm its durable armor. Thus, it found it humorous that the person it just killed was trying this final ditch effort.
As the massive precipice dropped from the ceiling, the Sentinel snorted coldly, not paying in mind.
What made the Sentinel roar in laughter was the fact that it didn't even strike at them but instead slammed into the ground.
Just when the Sentinel was about to turn around and begin a slaughter fest with the other nuisance ants, an earth-shattering impact suddenly echoed in the room.
The sentinel failed to realize that the precipice it looked down upon, was capable of ushering a force in which the collision reverberated through the entire boss room, creating deep cracks that rapidly spread outward from the point of impact.
Dazed by the situation, the ground beneath the Sentinel began to give way, quickly showing a drastic change. Jagged fissures widened as the once-solid stone floor crumbled into a vast, gaping hole.
Due to its initial arrogance and relief, the Sentinel wanted to quickly escape from the danger, only to end up being barricaded by Flint.
Flint's eyes were full of murderous intent, its chirping eerily dangerous.
"CHIRP!!!"
Flint screeched in a loud chirping voice, causing the Sentinel to stagger at the edge by the sudden loud voice, its massive stone body losing balance as the ground under it collapsed.
With a deafening rumble, the Sentinel's weight became too much for the fragile ledge, and it plummeted into the newly formed abyss below.
Its massive form crashed into the darkness, the sound of stone grinding against stone echoing as it fell deeper into the void. Dust and debris filled the air as the Sentinel disappeared into the abyss, swallowed by the depths.
Before it could even celebrate its success, the Sentinel found itself falling deeper and deeper inside the bottom of the abyss, the glow of light gradually dimming from its eyes.
A few seconds later, the Sentinel was no more, leaving behind only the remains of the shattered ground, with bits of the precipice lying across the surface.
Such a drastic change in the situation left nearly everyone on the scene speechless.
After all, the moment the Sentinel was officially swallowed by the abyss, they received a system prompt, claiming that they had successfully cleared the Fortress of the Fallen.
System: Vanguard Guild has successfully completed the "Fortress of the Fallen" Large-Scale Raid Dungeon. All hail the conquerors of the Golem Sentinel!
The announcement echoed through every region and city in the game, lighting up player chats, and causing an uproar of both amazement and envy.
The Vanguard Guild was now being discussed almost everywhere by players who found it baffling that they actually succeeded.
"W-What just happened?" OneManMedia, who had streamed in the prime position and witnessed everything from start to finish, was dumbfounded by the outcome.
No one was able to answer OneManMedia's question, because it wasn't just the fellow raid members, but even the viewers were stupefied by the scene.
A raid boss that was catastrophe enough to annihilate 18 players in an unknown means— fell to his death?
Who would believe that?
No, even if they had video evidence and the streaming to back them up, almost nobody could accept that kind of explanation.
While everyone was still in a complete daze, they witnessed something more unbelievable.
From within the large abyss hole, they saw a figure emerging, and to their surprise, it was Xu Feng, who was supposed to be dead.
"Phew, the Sentinel is really one tough hitter." Xu Feng clasped his hands and exclaimed, seemingly behaving as if he had just barely escaped the most dangerous situation ever.
"Wait, didn't the Raid Leader's name gray out? Shouldn't that mean he was dead"
"Could it be a bug?"
"A bug? That can't be, right? The Divine World is the most immersive one so far and everything has been smooth."
"Then just how? Did he faked his death again? Just how many times is he going to pull such a stunt? For drama?"
When the final person made that statement, the atmosphere quickly turned silent. It wasn't that they disagreed with them, but it was the mere fact that Carmen was standing right behind them.
Who doesn't know the capability of Carmen by now?
She, alone, could handle multiple Elite Enemies with relative ease and even toyed with them for fun.
While others struggled to even deal with one of them with multiple people, Carmen was a one man— or woman's army. Maybe a single individual army was better worded here.
Anyway, the point was, that the person who uttered those words was currently soaking wet, mainly because his companion had silently mouthed Carmen's in-game name and pointed behind him.
Turning around, the player gulped nervously when facing Carmen, who held a smiley expression.
"Go on, why did you stop commenting?" Carmen asked sweetly, seemingly encouraging the latter to continue his blabbering nonsense.
"I-I was just spouting nonsense and did not mean it." The person shrunk his neck and responded.
"If my jokes weren't ideal, then I apologize right now, Lady Lunar Wraith." He added, hurriedly bowing his head.
Whether it was real life or in the game, one must respect the strong. And with Carmen's current level and capability, being killed straight back to level 0 was not uncommon.
Additionally, they also heard rumors of her early days of being hunted by the Hundred Ghost of the Reaver Guild. Hence, they were positive that Carmen would do the same in retaliation sooner or later.
Just right when Carmen was about to open her mouth and speak, she heard a voice from behind.
"What's going on here that could make our dear Guild Commander feisty?" Xu Feng teased and lightly patted on Carmen's shoulder.
Instantly relaxed, Carmen's cold aura retracted as she turned around and glared at him.
She lightly punched him in the chest and scolded, "Can you please stop pulling such stunts and making your guildmates worry?"
Nodding in agreement, Xu Feng explained himself, "Well, the Sentinel had four phases, and I wanted to do my best to isolate it away from the rest. But somehow Flint did something spectacular and killed the Sentinel before it could even enter the final phase."
Of course, it was actually a lie and the whole scenario was planned by him, not Flint.
