Chapter 160: Departure
Chapter 160: Departure
It was understandable why Zhao Kai would overreact about his wealth, but Xu Feng didn't plan on disclosing it.
After all, the wealth can't be considered his, given it was obtained through a loan.
'This isn't something Kai should know since the risk of failing to repay the loan is massive.' Xu Feng thought to himself, thinking back to his earlier synthesis achievement.
After his achievement in obtaining the Master Alchemist title, he was congratulated by Elias, and from there, he requested a loan of 50 gold coins.
Of course, Elias initially laughed it off as a joke, given their Amicable relationship wasn't warranted enough for such a big loan. Thus, to proceed further and smoothly with the loan, he even sacrificed quite a bit of rare herbs.
Although Elias was still reluctant, his achievement could not be denied, and given his impressive mannerisms, he finally managed to convince Elias, albeit with extra conditions when failing to return the loan.
Failure to return would essentially spell the end of his game character, given the price to pay was not something anyone could imagine.
However, Xu Feng wasn't afraid of being unable to repay the loan.
'Once the insurgence mission is completed and I get recognition from the Town Mayor, things will be easier.' He thought, silently planning with the time limit he had.
Oftentimes, players who took loans without a plan were destined to delete their game character and start over, but he was not those players.
He knew exactly what to do to gain back those 50 gold coins and more in return. By then, Elias' impression of him being a credible person would be highlighted as well.
Sometime later, Zhao Kai gave up on asking given Xu Feng's unwillingness to share the information, and returned to choosing his equipment, unaware of the loan.
As time flew by, Xu Feng finished choosing his new upgrade equipment, albeit the level requirement still prevented him from actually equipping it.
'All the minimum level requirement is 5, and I'm just level 4. What a discrimination.' Xu Feng sighed inwardly.
It wasn't that he didn't want to equip them, but none of this equipment was eligible for him at the moment.
Nevertheless, that didn't prevent him from continuing to buy them, given their rarity and great attributes.
Fiona was truly one amazing blacksmith and this kind of equipment in the Storage Room might be considered below-average quality in her eyes, but for other players.
This was a treasure trove— one that many would drool over to have in their vault!
"Alright, I'm done choosing." Xu Feng announced.
"I'm also done as well." Zhao Kai grinned from ear to ear as he revealed himself donning a new set of equipment. Clearly, he was filled with satisfaction and the increase of his attributes gained from the equipment set.
"I can't believe Fiona would have set equipment just stashed in here. Luckily I spotted them and now I have a set effect from wearing them." Zhao Kai placed his hands on his hips and laughed merrily.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng gazed at the color emitting from his set with a baffled expression.
"You really knew how to not be polite with me," he commented, staring at the glowing blue color.
Equipment rarity was distinguished by color, aside from the level and attributes. The rankings were as follows: Common (White), Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), Legendary (Orange), Mythic (Red), and Artifact (Gold).
Each level was further subdivided into two categories: the standard rank and the Superior rank, such as Common and Superior Common, etc.
The Superior rank was indicated by a darker shade of the base color.
Naturally, the better the rarity the equipment was, the better the attributes were.
And to think Zhao Kai managed to scavenge a complete Rare equipment set that matched his class was unbelievable. The Storage Room had a bunch of equipment simply tossed aside without much categorization aside from the pricing tag on the shelves.
"Hehe, it took me a while to search for them again since last time." Zhao Kai smiled sheepishly, clearly not ashamed of choosing a complete set.
"You have 25 gold coins anyway, and this set should be around 2 gold coins. You could totally afford it." He added, waving his hand and brushing it off as a trivial matter.
"..."
It was times like this that Xu Feng wanted to inform him that the money came from a loan, but still, he refrained from exposing it.
"Fine, consider it a payment for that gift." He muttered, agreeing to pay for Zhao Kai in exchange for the car that was gifted to him by Zhao Xin.
Sometime later, once Xu Feng finished calculating everything, the total cost came to around 8 gold coins.
"Wow, you chose a lot of Rare equipment as well." Zhao Kai exclaimed, recognizing the glowing vibrant blue color on some pieces.
The highest rarity equipment in the Storage Room was Rare, so he would be dumb to not buy some of them given the discounts and limited quantity.
So far, the highest equipment shown so far was an Uncommon weapon from Gentle Wind's staff.
Thus, he naturally needed a higher rarity to lend her the weapon from the deal they made.
"Anyway, I'm done here, so the rest is up to you." Xu Feng placed the money on the table as Fiona instructed and turned to Zhao Kai, bidding his farewell.
The time of departure had come and he could not afford to idle any longer than necessary in Willowbrook Village.
His main and sub-objectives were completed, with the main being to assist Zhao Kai and impart his crucial knowledge. The sub-objective was to become acquainted with the blacksmith, albeit with some minor changes.
He originally wanted to be acquainted with Thorin, but he was unavailable. However, being acquainted with Fiona wasn't bad either.
"Don't disappoint me too much," Xu Feng smiled and patted his shoulders, leaving the blacksmith store.
As his silhouette nearly disappeared from the scene, Zhao Kai finally shouted, "Don't you worry, Feng! I'm definitely going to become stronger the next time we meet up."
Hearing that, Xu Feng nearly stumbled from the cringe dialogue. 'What's wrong with him? Is he trying to raise the death flag on me?'
