Chapter 1455: The Retaliation Part 6
Chapter 1455: The Retaliation Part 6
A few minutes later, the majority of the players exited the city, whether through the entrance or the Teleport Platform.
As for the NPC residing in the city, almost half of them also left, granted that this group was particularly wealthy and could afford the transportation fees.
The ones without much money were trapped within their city.
Now, one might ask how ruthless it was to implicate the innocent?
Well, Carmen was still soft-hearted and cast another Void Portal, which had been recharged near the exit.
"The Void Portal would send you to the nearby city to avoid the impending doom of Numon City. It will remain open until the Colossus’ army has breached the interior." Carmen exclaimed loudly.
To maintain the Void Portal, she had to exhaust her mana, which would be extremely expensive for the time allocation she had given to the NPCs.
It might sound dumb, but she seriously couldn’t bring herself to become a Terminator thoroughly.
Just because their leader was at fault didn’t mean the people their leader governed were guilty either.
And sure enough, her conduct actually won hearts from the NPCs, especially those with lower incomes who could not afford to flee even if their lives were supposedly in danger.
Though, to be fair, when those high-end NPCs fled for their lives, there was a pretty high chance that the city was at risk.
"Can your mana even sustain the portal?" Veronica asked immediately when Carmen appeared in front of her through another portal, which she quickly closed to avoid exhausting more mana.
"I can sustain for about 20-30 minutes max," Carmen responded honestly.
"20-30 minutes?" Veronica raised an eyebrow in suspicion. "I doubt your mana is that much to sustain for so long."
"Yeah... about that. I can use some potions."
"And those potions at the expense of the Guild’s Fund?"
At this moment, Veronica was glaring at her with an unfriendly look.
Had it been a normal time, she wouldn’t really mind letting her squander the guild’s potions. After all, there was an unlimited supply of them.
However, times had changed.
Natural resources had been inflated, and potions became a rarity, with each costing no less than 2 silver coins. And the most important one could even cost 1 gold coin per bottle.
Although Xu Feng was an Herbalist and did manage to deliver enough herbs for the guild, most of them were taken or called dibs by Jeanette, aka the Inventor.
Jeanette was a special individual within the guild.
The benefit she enjoyed was on par with Crimson Heart, albeit the former specialized in potions while the latter specialized in forging.
Neither one was expendable, especially when they were specially recruited by Xu Feng without needing to go through the guild’s entrance test.
Nobody complained about their special entrance either, because everyone benefited greatly from their existence.
Players could purchase potions unavailable in other stores using GMP, and Crimson Heart was even more vital to keeping their gear durable and up to date.
"Relax, it won’t be much." Carmen chuckled awkwardly. "Anyway, what about the rest of the teams? The Guild Leader completed his court hearing, so the others should also be done with the assignment, right?"
"I’ve received confirmation from Sweet Sky’s team and Dark Night’s team." Veronica opened her message and frowned a bit. "There had been no response from Lightning Blade or Blue Star."
"Hmm?" Carmen was a bit taken aback. "If I recall, those two should have gone to Starion City."
Veronica nodded her head in agreement. She was a bit worried and decided to send a message to inquire about their situation.
A few minutes later, there still hadn’t been any response from either of the two.
"Did something happen to them?" She frowned and glanced at Carmen, hoping that they were simply preoccupied with something at the moment.
"Let me check the Game Forum." Carmen quickly opened the forum to check any related news about Starion City.
As she continuously scrolled, her pupils suddenly constricted.
"What did you find?" Veronica was alarmed by her reaction.
"I-It’s said that a Tier 5 powerhouse expert happened to be strolling by Starion City and suddenly discovered an incense placed in the center. A city lockdown had been imposed. Nobody could enter or leave, with players claiming their system features were temporarily restricted." Carmen explained in a bitter tone.
The news managed to spread because some of the players trapped within the city took the penalty risk to log off and inform their colleagues, friends, and families about their situation.
Thud!
Veronica staggered a few steps. Her face was somewhat pale as she could tell that the two would be caught sooner or later.
A Tier 5 powerhouse expert was no laughing matter.
Every player knew just how vastly different the Tier was, and the higher the tier was, the stronger they were.
If Carmen could defy so much logic as a Tier 2 player, then Tier 5 could be said to obliterate logic.
"I’ve informed Feng about the news already," Carmen said. She knew the situation had escalated beyond their control.
Only Xu Feng could possibly do something about this.
...
Aetheria Empire
"What’s this message?" Xu Feng had arrived at the Adventure Guild located in the empire when he suddenly received a barrage of messages.
The most notable one was Carmen, who had spammed him a lot.
"Don’t tell me they met with mishaps, right?" He found it hard to believe they could fail at such a simple task.
They only needed to drop the incense discreetly and leave the city immediately.
How hard was that?
APPARENTLY VERY HARD!
"You’ve got to be kidding me..." Xu Feng’s brows knitted tightly as he read the message sent by Carmen.
A Tier 5 powerhouse??!
He had just finished dealing with one fearsome Tier 5 powerhouse, and now there just so happened to be another one popping out of nowhere?
"Wow, the world must be against me." He laughed hysterically. To think he had to deal with another Tier 5 powerhouse shortly after dealing with Olivia.
