Chapter 1406: Sunrise Inner City Part 23
"YEOOOOOOW!"
Five minutes had gone by since Lightning Blade became the chosen one to be the speedy man for Xu Feng’s baiting strategy.
And so far, he had been met with a series of misfortunes.
Just like Xu Feng’s warning had stated earlier, the enemies were indeed baiting them with the previous cold arrow.
Lightning Blade might have easily deflected that cold arrow, but the truth was that the enemies purposely allowed him to.
As for proof?
The current Lightning Blade was being pierced and shot by arrows, appearing no different than a porcupine.
That yeoooow scream earlier was also because Lightning Blade had just been shot again—this time on his butt.
Sure, his speed was high, but with barely any room to dodge... he was no different than free target dummies for the enemies to spam their arrows.
So what if you’re speedy?
If you cannot hide, you should become a porcupine.
"Guild Leader, where is the promised protection?" Lightning Blade managed to finally experience the plight that Steelshot had experienced in the past.
Despite his screams and agony, Lightning Blade would have never guessed the so-called reinforcement was on the other side of the map.
"Are you sure it’s all right to abandon Blade like that?" Carmen smiled bitterly and inquired. She would have been fine if the other person were a non-guild member and was just a random person. But Lightning Blade was a member and someone with a high contribution value.
"His GMP will be accounted for." Xu Feng flatly replied, his eyes focusing on the system map.
He wasn’t being heartless or ruthless toward Lightning Blade. The situation simply didn’t allow him to bring everyone to the next stage.
"It’s alright if he dies. I’ve attached a tethered link to him when I patted his shoulders. If he really dies, then I can revive him next to us."
Needless to say, Xu Feng hoped that Lightning Blade could try his best to survive and stall the enemies for longer.
The longer he stalled, the greater their position would be and the easier it would be for them to advance.
Carmen nodded her head in understanding.
The same goes for the others behind who seriously had such doubts as well.
They simply didn’t have the nerve to raise the question aside from Carmen.
So Lightning Blade would be resurrected next to them anyway...
This was all they needed to know. Lightning Blade wasn’t tossed away as a sacrificial pawn, merely used as a distraction.
If he was going to be revived next to them anyway, then all was well. Maybe the only problem was a slight traumatic experience.
Because the screaming and shouting could be heard from afar. Those kinds of screaming were truly not something any of them wished to endure or even experience.
"Good thing my speed is a bit inferior to Blade." Dark Night lightly patted his chest as he realized how big a bullet he had dodged.
"I don’t think you want to jinx yourself." Blue Star lightly commented.
VenomPulse didn’t say anything but nodded silently. Such a situation was better to just know in your heart and not be spoken aloud.
And sure enough, VenomPulse would be right.
"Dark Night, I’ve heard just now that your speed is a bit inferior to Blade."
Xu Feng’s voice resounded, and to almost everyone in the scene, it sounded like a call for trial.
Dark Night’s body jolted slightly as he nodded. But then he quickly shook his head.
"Not really, Guild Leader. My agility is just so-so."
"Is that so? If your agility didn’t meet certain requirements, then you deceived the guild. Deceiving the guild will result in a loss of 2,500 GMP." Xu Feng calmly said.
Almost immediately, Dark Night’s attitude changed 180 degrees.
"Look at my goldfish memory, Guild Leader. My agility is very high." As if to prove a point, Dark Night proceeded to share his attribute with everyone.
Needless to say, everyone silently offered their condolences to Dark Night.
Because they all knew what was coming next.
And they would be correct!
"Perfection! Dark Night, you see that path over there. I’ve discussed the baiting strategy already, so you are the next chosen one." Xu Feng pointed at another gloomy area.
When Dark Night shifted his sight over there, he felt like slapping himself just 5 minutes ago.
Why didn’t he keep his damn mouth shut?
Karma... an intangible belief that some believe exists, and some call superstitious.
But at this moment, Dark Night believed it really existed. After all, this karma came so fast at him.
And just like what Xu Feng did to Lightning Blade, he attached a tethered link to Dark Night.
"Try your best to aggro a lot and survive. Remember, don’t skim on resources to survive. If Blade can survive for this long, and you cannot. I might really have to reconsider merging elite teams."
Xu Feng’s words were said lightheartedly, but anyone could tell this was a subtle threat and warning.
A subtle threat that he better perform well or he might risk losing his elite team. As for the warning, it was said to the other members in this raid.
One might start to become confused by Xu Feng’s sudden change of behavior.
Prior to joining the raid, it was somewhat carefree and relaxing. But ever since it was discovered that the raid difficulty had jumped to Extreme Mode, his behavior had changed completely.
’Don’t blame me too much. Even I have to concentrate fully to avoid a team wipe.’ Xu Feng also knew how erratic his behavior was. Unfortunately, the circumstances were just pitted against him.
From the beginning till now, he had constantly kept his perception active.
It was even enhanced with Origin power, which drained his mental concentration fast.
However, not doing it would result in them encountering many monsters and being drained before they could even reach the first boss: Red Ogre Mist.
"Everyone, keep up with the pace. We’re going to be increasing our movement speed." Xu Feng declared.
