Chapter 1394: Sunrise Inner City Part 11
Chapter 1394: Sunrise Inner City Part 11
The atmosphere in the main office at the Town Hall was quite awkward.
Or more specifically, it was Carmen who had just come to a realization that her suffering at Veronica’s hands was actually ordered by Xu Feng.
"You told her to do that?" She turned to him and asked in disbelief.
Now, in such a situation, one might start to think about how to survive or come up with excuses.
But that would be the incorrect choice!
"Mhmm, your personality is too soft sometimes. You have the aura, but you lack the demeanor." Xu Feng admitted it with a straight face as he explained his actions.
"Just today, did you not see how the members weren’t just revered by your ability, but also by your demeanor?"
Upon hearing the question, Carmen pondered silently and recalled the members’ behavior at the training hall.
’Indeed, those members were all listening and paying attention carefully. They were using their ears and not just their eyes.’ She agreed that there were indeed major changes.
Although she didn’t want to sound boastful or prideful, she had received many glances and stares because they wanted to admire her beauty.
Being strong was only secondary.
This was also why she had a natural, distinctive barrier that separated her from the others. She didn’t want to be appreciated because of her beauty, but because of her effort and strength.
And needless to say, Xu Feng had done exactly that. Not once had he looked at her with those pervy eyes... until they confirmed their relationship status.
Still, she didn’t mind him being a bit lustful toward her. After all, she was the same and wanted to devour him daily. Otherwise, she would have never let him have his way with her in bed.
"I suppose it was necessary if you had to get Veronica to lecture me." She took a deep sigh and forgave him.
"What?" Veronica was alarmed and wondered if her bestie had picked up the wrong script. She had said this to see a mini fight between them and to teach Xu Feng a lesson to never use her again.
Yet the outcome not only backfired, but she also appeared to be somewhat like a homewrecker.
"I don’t belong here, right?" She placed her snacks back in her inventory and questioned.
"Of course, not." Xu Feng lightly smiled and spread his arms wide. "You’re on my pirate ship. There’s no escaping."
"Ahh, look at Feng. Already trying to create a harem for himself." Carmen quickly chimed in and teased.
"..."
At this moment, Veronica realized she was the babysitter for these two.
’What am I going to do with these two?’ She sighed inwardly and facepalmed.
"Anyway, these are the members who have passed the screening." Veronica no longer bothered with these two and went straight to the topic.
Sure enough, both Xu Feng and Carmen also stopped joking around.
"Hmm, not a single elite team opted out." Xu Feng rubbed his chin softly. He didn’t anticipate this many people signing up.
"This is after the filtering, too?" He looked up and asked Veronica.
Veronica nodded and shrugged. "You have no idea how competent and independent your guild members are."
Vanguard Guild members have always been above average, to the point where there were many of them being targeted in headhunting.
Headhunting was essentially people trying to poach them and recruit them to another affiliation.
"Well, they’re always free to leave." Xu Feng shrugged his shoulders. His guild wasn’t some prison that forced them to stay in the guild. But that didn’t mean his guild was a charitable place either.
"Hah, you want 500 gold coins for the contract to be nullified. Who can afford that kind of money?" Veronica rolled her eyes.
"And even if they were willing to do it for some of them. Those members usually enjoy one of the highest benefits. Unless their brain has been hit by a truck or something, they would never leave to guild hop." She added.
This was the most devious measure Xu Feng took to ensure the members stayed loyal and dispel any interest in guild hopping.
Once they guild hop, and not just quit the Divine World for good, then they would be forever blacklisted in the Vanguard Guild’s circle.
"I mean like... I gave them the option to poach or headhunt them." Xu Feng picked his ear and replied nonchalantly.
Just when Veronica was about to stand up and give him a light smack, Carmen decided to help out her bestie.
"Hmm, I’ve received many offers daily to guild hop over to others. Should I accept their offer then?" Carmen rubbed her chin softly and mused. As if that wasn’t enough, she even gave Veronica a wink.
Needless to say, Veronica received the signal and readily clasped her hands.
"Really? Same here." She smiled gleefully. "So many players are starting to recognize my administration work and want me to work for them. Besides the benefits in the Divine World, they even offered a high salary in the real world, plus a luxury condo and a car for free."
The two of them believed they had successfully cornered Xu Feng and given him some setbacks.
Unfortunately, they have failed to understand his true shamelessness.
"You know what." He stood up and gazed at the window. "Both of you are right. Many also wanted to poach Cool Wind away and offer me many benefits. I should probably accept them and get those benefits."
"DREAM ON!" Instantly, both women shouted loudly simultaneously.
They could already imagine the chaos it would cause if Xu Feng really used his other alias to guild hop.
After being reprimanded by them, Xu Feng simply scratched his head and began organizing the team.
"This raid capacity is only 50 players, but 15 of them must be healers. In other words, we only have a vacancy of 35." Xu Feng revealed. The Sunrise Inner City was a DoT environment in itself.
Without sufficient healers, their group would cease to survive. And as much as he wanted to boast about being the strongest healer, he couldn’t possibly help sustain so many players at once while doing shot calling.
’I still wish to retain my sanity.’ He thought to himself.
