Chapter 1381: Aetheria Empire Part 28
The entire crowd went into an uproar when they came to realize that the young man in front of them was the trending Lin Feng.
"He’s Lin Feng? The one who contributed a lot of war horses?"
"What Lin Feng? It’s Viscount Lin Feng. His authority is higher than the majority of us."
Of course, what they meant by authority wasn’t simply about Xu Feng’s nobility rank. Instead, they were talking about the people who supported and vouched for him.
None of those people was simple or easy to be trifled with!
Within a few seconds, the crowd no longer questioned Madam Ying or even attempted to use snarky tone remarks.
They weren’t foolish enough to offend Madam Ying in front of Xu Feng, when the two clearly had some hidden deal behind the scenes.
"Looks like everyone already knows me well." In response to their shock, Xu Feng suddenly chuckled heartily and scratched his head. He was putting on a somewhat helpless and embarrassed act to ease the atmosphere.
But most importantly, he planned to have them feel a closer connection and not be so restrained.
After all, they were all nobles or people of high standing in the Aetheria Empire. Befriending them would only benefit him in the long run.
As for their characters, that would be dependent on the future.
’Madam Ying’s connection really is no joke. She might have lost her prestige in recent times, but these people still have to show up.’ Xu Feng could sense that a few individuals were quite powerful.
Even though they didn’t exude anything, he could sense danger from them.
Their strength was Tier 3, but it was evident that they had fought in many battles. After all, the pressure he felt was passive and not something they were doing on purpose.
Sometime later, Xu Feng began to introduce the basic rules of the auction market.
Needless to say, this process was very smooth and concise. Almost everyone here was used to the auction rules.
Repeating them over and over again, like some graduation ceremony or even a welcoming ceremony, would bore the crap out of everyone.
"So, for the first item, allow me to offer these scales up!" Xu Feng announced and unveiled a scale obtained from the Phantasm Sea.
BOOM!
Like a massive explosion occurred, as soon as the scale was exposed to the public, almost everyone could feel its profoundness.
Because the Phantasm Sea was restricted and limited, none of these people had seen an item sourced from it.
In other words, no matter what kind of items Xu Feng brought out from the Phantasm Sea, they would become a man’s greatest treasure.
Sure enough, nearly everyone in the scene had their eyes widened in utter astonishment.
Some even stood up in bewilderment as they tried to inspect the scales.
"What marvelous scales are these? If crafted for armor or weapons, wouldn’t the prowess be increased twofold?"
"Twofold? Even thrice the value isn’t an exaggeration!"
"More importantly, these scales seemed to be in perfect condition. Just where did he manage to obtain such precious materials from?"
"Such precious materials must have been scarce. To think the newly promoted Viscount is willing to part with such material."
The collective nobles all believed Xu Feng wanted to hype up the impromptu auction by bringing.
Little did they know... They couldn’t be any more wrong.
’Precious materials? Brother, please... I have a stash of these scales and only took a little out to entice you all.’ He sneered inwardly. These scales were the most common drop rate in the Phantasm Sea.
Even though he had cleansed it somewhat, there were still many monsters affected by the Phantasia.
But then again, just because he could access it easily didn’t mean others were able to.
After all, the Abyssal Eye was now on a rampage, or more specifically, its minions were on the hunt for blood.
Any person without the protection or required blessing would be killed in one shot.
"Everyone, these scales are bundled together and will begin at 100 gold coins, with each increment being no less than 10 gold coins." Xu Feng proudly announced, setting the base price at 100 gold coins.
It sounded expensive and outright extortion, but to these nobles who were currently lacking a lot of means for protection, these scales were a godsend.
As long as they got their hands on it, their strength would improve by leaps and bounds.
By then, they could contribute even more to the empire to increase their status.
"I bid 110 gold coins!"
"140 gold coins!"
"180 gold coins!"
"You all want to bid against me? I bid 300 gold coins!"
In the blink of an eye, the originally tranquil atmosphere was broken.
Replacing them was a bunch of voices yelling over one another.
Neither party wished to give away these scales to others.
Without knowing how many scales Xu Feng actually had in hand, plus the fact that these scales had caused them to tremor even from afar, they were determined to get their hands on the first item.
Meanwhile, Madam Ying was flabbergasted on the sideline. She couldn’t believe she was also deceived by him.
’This shrewd man actually hid such a wonderful item from me? What a waste to use it for first bidding!’ She pursed her lips and glared at Xu Feng.
Amidst her intense staring, Xu Feng could feel his back being targeted. It was as if multiple daggers were ready to stab him deeply.
’She’s definitely mad...’ He smiled awkwardly. Given that she had a large intelligence network, she definitely required more of these scales to improve her subordinates’ overall gear.
Yet instead of sharing these with her, he opted to put them up for auction and take her by complete surprise.
She couldn’t even participate in the first bid because she might become a public enemy.
She was the one who invited them all, so if she outbid them, then that was equivalent to slapping their faces. Such an action would definitely not come from her.
