Xu Feng had been used to answering Carmen on the spot. Hence, he instinctively answered her.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t what Carmen had in mind.

"Spooked you there?" She raised an eyebrow and walked in a circle around him.

"Is it because you have guilt in mind? Otherwise, how could someone shrewd, wicked, sly, despicable, and cunning like you get scared?"

Seeing how speechless he became, Carmen started to giggle.

"Haha, my record in making you speechless has been increasing." She teased, tears of joy seemed to be seeping out from the corner of her eyes.

"Eh?" Startled, Xu Feng didn’t quite get her tease.

Wasn’t she mad about being kept in the dark?

He was certain that her tone on the phone was laced with killing intent.

If it weren’t for that, then she wouldn’t have rushed over to Avalon City.

"Heh, did you seriously think I was angry?" Carmen smirked and continued, "I’m only a bit salty because such a fun project... you’ve left me out."

"Oh, is that so?"

"Of course. Besides, the current CP rumors are merely marketing tactics to get people interested. If anything, I think we need to upgrade it more."

"Upgrade more?"

"Mhmm, I reckon there’s a kiss scene in the short drama. I believe we should have some tests, shooting those first. And if the actresses are willing, we can shoot steamy ones which will really rile the crowd up."

Dumbfounded, Xu Feng’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Was his hearing wrong?

Or was Carmen actually more enthusiastic and eager than he was to shoot scenes?

Upon seeing his confused look, Carmen decided to come clean.

"I’ve studied directing before, but due to a lack of connection and unwillingness to go through those dark channels. I could only make do with a marketing job." She explained.

Realization quickly dawned upon Xu Feng.

So that was the case!

She was infuriated because she didn’t get to direct those flirty scenes to generate buzz.

Moreover, she was even angrier when even her bestie omitted her directing dream.

After all, such a commotion was definitely informed to Veronica, who was busy managing both the Divine World and the real world regarding the Vanguard Guild.

"Does that mean you want to be the director?" Xu Feng inquired. Even though he had a possibility of what her response might be, he still preferred to ask whether she wanted it or not.

Sure enough, Carmen clasped her hands and readily agreed.

"I want to direct!" She exclaimed and flashed a sweet smile. "But how much are you going to pay me?"

"5% shares."

"What shares?"

Xu Feng chuckled and grabbed her suitcase. "5% shares of the newly established Vanguard Entertainment Group. Is that enough for the payment fee, Director Carmen?"

Carmen’s heart started to beat rapidly after learning what those shares meant. She was especially stunned when Xu Feng revealed he had already given 3% to Evelyn, who had invested 5 million dollars.

"T-This is too much." Contrary to Xu Feng’s expectation that she would accept the arrangement, Carmen actually hesitated and retreated a few steps.

"I can’t afford to invest that much, and I don’t have any real directing experience. I just wanted to shoot some teasers and trailers." She didn’t dare to jeopardize the whole short drama production.

Although she was confident in her directing skills, this was the Vanguard Guild’s first motion in the real world.

Any small mishaps and it could ruin the momentum.

"Then we can shoot some teasers and trailers tomorrow." Xu Feng mused and began pulling her rolling luggage away. "If the results are great, then you can be the director. Consider it my apology for concealing the matter from you."

"W-Wait a second, Feng!" Carmen called out, only to realize he had no intention of stopping. Helpless, she could only increase her pace and catch up to him.

Sometime later, the duo arrived at the parking lot and entered the car.

"Have you booked a hotel room or have somewhere else to stay?" He asked.

"I don’t." She pursed her lips and lowered her head. "I came in a rush."

"Fret not, the Oasis Hotel still has rooms for you."

Soon, the AI Vera booted up the car and began driving to their destination.

Along the way, Xu Feng handed her the script and the confirmed casting roles for the short drama.

"These three actresses are all beautiful." Carmen acknowledged their appearance and saw clips of their acting skills. She admitted that they were indeed suitable for the role.

However...

What confused her the most was Evelyn’s role, especially when she learned about her identity.

"Guild Leader, just what is wrong with you?" She twitched her brows and gazed at him suspiciously. "How in the world did you manage to charm the young heiress of Maleficent Limited??!"

"Don’t ask me." Xu Feng shrugged. He was the most clueless one as well.

Having bombarded the latter with grenades in their first meeting, he didn’t know what else he had done to her.

In fact, he even thought Evelyn was a masochist. But after some testing, he realized that wasn’t the case.

"Hmm, she’s infatuated, alright." Carmen nodded her head and confirmed that her behavior was more intense than that of the other three actresses.

There wasn’t a hint of jealousy or anger in her tone of speech or expression.

Maybe it was because she thought her place in his heart was unshakable, but her emotions started to sway when it became evident that someone was trying to snatch her place.

While Carmen was trying her best to regulate the emotion deep inside her, Xu Feng remained unaware and was focusing on the upcoming development.
