Chapter 1175: Fundings
Chapter 1175: Fundings
Time quickly went by, and the table of food was finished.
"Phew, now that’s what I call food." Zhao Kai rubbed his tummy and exclaimed. His exhilarated look made it seem like he hadn’t eaten anything good for years.
"Are you sure you’re allowed to eat that much?" Xu Feng inquired. He recalled that there was still the National Competition, so his diet should have been strict.
"Fret not, Mr. Feng. It’s because we have this meeting today, which is why he’s allowed for a cheat day." Lynette answered and smiled gently at him.
"Once we return, I’ll make sure his training is doubled—actually tripled to burn down the calories."
"W-What??!" Zhao Kai’s body jolted. He gazed at Lynette with a disbelief expression.
How could you triple my training?
Don’t you know how hard the training was already?
As if she were blind and incapable of seeing his aggrieved look, Lynette continued to chat with Xu Feng.
"Kai has a strict diet and training to follow for the National Competition. As his girlfriend and personal trainer, I cannot allow him to indulge in too much greasy food." She explained, seemingly hoping he would understand her difficulty.
After all, Xu Feng was buddies with Zhao Kai, so in a sense, Lynette needed to treat him with respect.
"You need not explain to me, Lynette." Xu Feng raised his hand and chuckled.
"Kai is a glutton, so having you by his side reassured me. He needs someone like you to regulate him." He encouraged her to keep it up.
Seeing that he didn’t mind her control, Lynette heaved a sigh of relief. She wasn’t afraid of Zhao Kai’s sister, but she was afraid of Xu Feng in a sense.
Based on Zhao Kai’s tone of speech between the two, it was pretty obvious that Zhao Kai cared more about Xu Feng’s opinion.
If Xu Feng were to disapprove of her, then things would become awkward between them.
’Seems like I was overthinking too much.’ Lynette thought to herself.
And indeed, she would be overthinking a lot.
Xu Feng wasn’t going to intervene in his buddy’s relationship. Unless there was a matter of Zhao Kai being cheated on, whether it was an affair, money, or other stuff, then Xu Feng would remain hands off.
He was already happy to see Zhao Kai’s fate changing.
In the past timeline, Zhao Kai was already no more in his life. To see him having a couple of banter with Lynette and crying like a baby was already a blessing in disguise.
’The one who harmed you should be those two elder half brothers of yours. It’s time to deal with them.’ Xu Feng thought to himself.
He still hadn’t forgotten about how those two, Zhao Heng and Zhao Ming, partnered with the Necro Alliance.
During the siege conducted by the Miracle Pavilion, there were members of the Necro Alliance involved. Although they concealed their participation openly, Xu Feng wasn’t the type to forget about his enemies.
Just because he didn’t seek revenge right away, it didn’t mean he had let the matter go and move on.
There was a common saying: Revenge is a dish best served cold.
The saying was true in a sense, but Xu Feng had his own interpretation.
The reason why revenge was a dish best served cold was that one cannot make haste when planning a revenge. Everything needed to be carefully planned and aligned with the timing to ensure maximum damage.
This was why the Reaver Guild, Illuminati, Miracle Pavilion, and every other enemy he dealt with still existed.
Sometime later, Zhao Kai regrettably bid Xu Feng farewell.
"Feng brother, I’m off now. I have so much training to do after this one meal."
"Go and train hard. I’ll be relying on you to protect me from future assassins."
"Hmph, I want to see if they dare to do it again." Enraged, Zhao Kai was reminded of Xu Feng’s hospitalization.
Till now, the main culprit had yet to be caught, which goes to show that the assassination was done by insiders.
"Wait a second, what assassins?" Lynette and the other three were confused by their conversation.
"Haha, we’re talking about the Divine World assassin class." Xu Feng chuckled heartily and explained.
"Yeah, Feng is a healer class, so the assassins love to target him." Zhao Kai picked up on the signal and chimed in.
Good thing the story made sense because the other three learned of his in-game username, so they knew he was indeed a healer.
"Alright, let’s cut the chatter." Zhao Kai then held Lynette’s hand and bid the other three farewell. "You three do not need to worry about funding issues. If Feng Brother becomes broke, I’m willing to sponsor alongside the Zhao Enterprise."
Soon, he exited, giving Xu Feng zero opportunity to return the jab.
Become broke?
What kind of nonsense was Zhao Kai speaking?
He was a bona fide self-made millionaire, alright!
How could he have gone broke in producing a short drama?
A few minutes later...
THUD!
Xu Feng’s face dropped as he listened to the approximate funds required for the short drama he had planned.
"800,000 dollars?!" His mouth was left agape. He thought a short drama production would only cost around 50-150 thousand dollars.
"Well, you wanted the best of the best." Chen Kexin smiled awkwardly.
"Plus, the CGI required in the real world that you wanted to include isn’t easy to do." Li Sheng Xuan continued.
"This is already a great price for the requirement you want, especially when you want actors who could actually act and have experience in the Divine World." Ding Xiao Ying concluded.
"Let me ask you one thing." Xu Feng’s eyes narrowed and questioned, "Are you planning on recruiting actors and people you’re familiar with, and wanting them to have a good paycheck?"
The three of them quickly turned quiet, granted that he had nailed the mark.
How did he figure out their hidden mindset?
As expected of the honorary elder. One could really not underestimate him.
