Chapter 1124: Luther’s Ultimatum
Chapter 1124: Luther’s Ultimatum
Shortly after delivering the fake news, the two of them promptly returned to their respective positions.
Kailey was placed in the frontline to prevent any monsters from breaching their defensive line.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng returned to the high wall and glanced over the situation.
The battle had already begun some time ago, with the agitated monsters charging straight at their town with extreme bloodlust.
"Fire another missile at the rightmost section!" Veronica declared loudly.
Instantly, a missile created a swooshing sound, its speed extremely fast as it accurately landed at the position that Veronica called out.
KABOOM!
In the blink of an eye, the missile caused a massive explosion, killing a large number of monsters. The ground left a large crater, followed by some magma creation from the explosion.
The destructive environment forcefully changed the trajectory of the agitated monsters to wrap around to avoid being burned by the magma.
Their diversion of path effectively created more time for the Haven Wind Town’s side to cover and defend the line without needing to use too much of their powerful skills.
"Looks like the enemies had yet to join..." Xu Feng mused, his eyes spotting the far distance.
At a far distance, Luther’s facial complexion was extremely ugly. His heart bled when he watched the monsters he instructed to be buffed all get annihilated by a single missile.
’Where in the hell did they obtain such an overpowered ballistic missile?’ Luther was going insane.
Each of the monsters was level 60!
They weren’t some low-level monsters whom you could just kill in one strike!
Growing increasingly frustrated at the outcome, Luther was about to call for his people to rush ahead and destroy the ballistic missile.
"Forget it! All of you should do whatever it takes to take down their ballistic missile. I don’t care how many of you die. The Miracle Pavilion promises to compensate for everyone’s death." He announced loudly.
When the rest heard the announcement, they were about to charge in, only to halt their movement when an objection was raised.
"I doubt we can continue the siege." Natasha frowned deeply as she rejected the notion. After reading the message sent by her spy, followed by the proof of a screenshot, she wanted to flee from the area.
"What are you trying to pull?" Annoyed, Luther suppressed his anger and asked coolly.
"I’ve already bowed my head to you. What more do you want?"
He had reason to believe Natasha was trying to humiliate him further.
However, such behavior should only be used at a certain time and in a certain situation.
Right now, the siege was already in operation, and they had spent a lot of money to repeatedly buff the monsters to go into a frenzy state.
"Do I look so bored to humiliate a nobody like you repeatedly?" Natasha rolled her eyes in response and forwarded the message to him, omitting the sender’s name.
Luther temporarily suppressed his emotions and went to check what was wrong with the woman.
’Hmph, I doubt it’s...’ Before Luther could curse her silently, his mind suddenly went blank. His mouth felt dry from the lack of saliva, and he stumbled a few steps back.
Stormspire Guardian Tower?
Capable of chain lightning networks??!
What the hell was this!
He wanted to deny the claim, but the blueprint tower made it hard to believe it was real.
"Even if they do have this blueprint, it’s just a blueprint in the end," Luther argued, refusing to believe the Vanguard Guild was capable of producing such a deadly tower.
"A blueprint, eh?" As if expecting this kind of response, Natasha sneered and forwarded the latest message.
Soon, a whopping tower that resembled the blueprint tower was screenshot.
To make the screenshot more frightening was that on the screen, there stood the Vanguard Guild Leader standing next to the tower with a profound gaze.
"Just who is your spy?" Luther nearly went insane. How could her spy be so competent as to take such a screenshot in a timely manner?
He didn’t doubt the legitimacy because of how candidly the picture was taken, and somewhat blurry at the same time.
After all, taking it blurry meant that their spy was anxious as hell to be in such close proximity.
"So, do you still want to continue the siege?" Natasha questioned. She had no more interest in being present when it was clear that they had severely underestimated the Vanguard Guild.
Their so-called numbers advantage was extremely laughable at this juncture!
So what if they attempted to swarm the town?
They got damn lighting towers that could zap them all to a burnt crisp!
Luther’s face turned ghastly pale. He wanted to sound the retreat, but he had just received information that the headquarters were deeply infuriated by the recent sabotage of their supplies. They wanted him to do whatever it takes to siege, and any retreat would mean being terminated.
To summarize, the headquarters were currently spectating the event and weren’t happy with the motion.
’Damn it all! Why don’t you fucking headquarters think next time when trying to pick a fight with the Vanguard Guild, then?’ Luther had fully assumed and embodied the role of a scapegoat now. This was an ultimatum!
There was no more path available for him, except for trying his best to complete the siege.
His position could remain safe if he provided some results, but it would definitely be shaky.
Still, he could at the very least ensure the headquarters didn’t think he was incompetent. It was just that the Vanguard Guild was far too mysterious.
He took a deep breath and glanced at Natasha.
"If you want to retreat, then leave. But I’ll make sure to report your retreat to the headquarters." He coldly said and turned around, his eyes facing the battle up ahead.
"Our Miracle Pavilion will remain strong and continue the siege!"
"What a crazy bastard!"
Natasha shook her head and felt like he was out of sync with reality.
The siege was a losing battle, and she refused to let anyone affiliated with the Illuminati suffer unnecessary casualties.
