Chapter 734 - 734: Showdown Devil VS Demon (part 6)
“Black Devil Hell Step”, with renewed confidence since he had used one of the hellscapes he was reserving to deal with Adam, Marcus’s legs exploded in black flames as he charged frontwards towards Daimon.
He didn’t even bother to use the golden sparks to boost the effect of his movement spell and simply advanced at high speed, despite the fact that he knew that Tessa’s energy could turn his black flames against him and that Daimon could now alter the composition of the energy constructions he made, at will and in a fraction of a second, considering what happened with the spear earlier.
“Clang!”, as Marcus thought his clawed gauntlets which were covered in black flames were met with a spear which had brown-red energy as its base and was enveloped in a gracious bright green light.
However contrary to the previous results, Marcus’s black flames weren’t devoured by the nature energy, which made Daimon frown behind his mask, unlike the golden devil mana which was of a neutral nature in its normal state, Marcus’s black flame darkness devil mana is of extreme negative orientation at all times.
That being said, he left his doubts for later and instead while still colliding against Marcus’s gauntlets with the spear, he inverted its composition, since he couldn’t take advantage of Tessa’s energy control over the black flames, Daimon changed to a physical approach then.
“I was waiting for that you bastard!”, shouted Marcus, the shadow of his arm then shook as a paw with powerful black claws created out of shadow emerged to meet the spear.
“Crack!”, the reinforced spear met the claws and after a momentary stalemate which was accompanied by sparks and the sounds of metals colliding, the claws were destroyed by the spear’s blade, not without having bought Marcus enough time to order the golden imp to buff his next spell.
“Black Devil Hell Shredding Claw!”, this time fully utilizing the black flames and while also being buffed by the golden sparks resulting from a piece of one of the many golden hills, disappearing, the devil ruler system user clawed towards Daimon who of course defended with the energy spear.
“Booooom!”, the spear stopped the claws for a second before crumbling apart due to a combination of the black flames which Marcus was now using without any reservations, as well as the buffed physical impact of the spell courtesy of the golden imp.
“Clang!”, still the attack didn’t directly reach Daimon because the reinforced green energy wood shield got in the way of Marcus’s clawed gauntlet, though the shockwave did make Daimon retreat.
The shield which now had many cracks appearing on it due to the previous, followed him right away.
‘Mmm, looks like energy constructions with Femi’s energy as the base that are not on my body have their toughness considerably reduced as they aren’t covering a “living being”, in contrast the layer of it reinforcing the nature energy wood shield only cracked… on the other hand, the wood shield’s effect is to reduce the impact of the attacks it blocks’, thought Daimon.
He was surprised to see the spear crumbling apart, but it was still within his calculations, he was using Femi’s energy in a different way than her after all, since his control over it clearly has not reached the full skin tempering stage and yet he was creating energy constructions with it as the base.
The most eye-catching thing wasn’t that though, but the fact that Marcus’s black flames were now immune to the subjugating effect Tessa’s energy had over them, which allowed him to run wild with them like he is used to, not to mention that he now had a strong helper with him, assisting at all times in the form of the lioness that blocked Daimon’s attack so that Marcus could launch his.
And the surprises didn’t end there, Marcus pointed at the pink sea of flames that conformed the mind burning hell as he made a vast majority of its devil mana gather in a single point.
“Mind Burning Hell, Deceitful Devil Bow!”, calling out the name of a spell, Marcus also activated the trump card of the mind burning hell, resulting in a refined black-pink bow appearing to then fly towards the haunted locust tree general who had lost his mount.
Since the general was too slow to keep up with what Marcus needed from him, and more importantly now that he had a better helper to keep him safe from the attacks of the masked silver haired youth, the devil ruler changed the general’s role to rear support by providing him a long-ranged weapon, and a trump card from a hellscape no less.
“Shoot him to death!”, ordered Marcus which made the haunted locust tree general pull on the string of the bow, making three pink flame arrows manifest on it to then be released the moment he let go of the string.
“Swift Step”, feeling danger coming from multiple directions, Daimon used a martial art alongside the energy condensed boots covering his feet to flash away from his previous positions.
“Boooom!”, the spot where Daimon was standing a second ago suddenly exploded as if countless projectiles had landed from every direction, because that was the case, the general who had shot three arrows was but an illusion casted by the wraiths.
Though the pink flames on the mind burning hell had become smaller since the hellscape’s trump card was used, similar to what happened when Marcus called the haunted locust tree general, the wraiths were still there and thus the illusion field was also active at all times.
And here you might wonder why Daimon not only dodged but even used a martial art to do so, when he still has the reinforced wood energy shield, which though damaged still managed to block the remaining impact of Marcus’s claw spell earlier and the answer is simple, because even with it Daimon’s senses warned him of danger even from his back which was being completely protected by the shield.
‘How weird, was it because the shield is damaged?’, thought Daimon as he directed some energy towards the shield instantly repairing it to then extend his right hand and condense a staff created with Tessa’s energy as the base to then reinforce it with Femi’s energy externally.
“Shattering Step”, wanting to confirm his suspicions, Daimon used the attack type martial art instead of the movement one, jumping into the air to then descend close to Marcus.
“Booom!”, the ground exploded with Daimon as the center, however the shockwave seemed to “avoid” Marcus passing around him instead of hitting him head on, blasting the ground that surrounded him without affecting him.
“Clack!”, next, Daimon swung the staff towards Marcus only for it to be met with the black claws of the shadow lioness that came out of the devil ruler system user’s shadow.
Having blocked the enemy’s attack, Marcus then pointed his right palm frontwards gathering black flames in front of it to then release them in a concentrated sphere of black flames.
“Black Devil Hell Cannon!”, however, Daimon made use of the effect of the staff which he was holding and redirected the claws of the shadow lioness towards Marcus’s own attack.
“Boooom!”, landing on the wrong target, the sphere of black flames exploded and expanded at enough distance for Daimon to avoid the spell, and here came the arrows which despite the reinforced shield having been completely repaired, still made Daimon’s senses warn him of danger even from his back.
“Swift Step”, with a “swoosh” Daimon once again got out of the encirclement of the invisible arrows that came from multiple directions while hidden with an illusion.
“Crack!”, like before, the spot where Daimon was standing not too long ago, exploded as the invisible arrows landed on it, however there was a difference this time, he had left the reinforced shield behind in his place to confirm his suspicions.
“I see, so that’s the trick, the arrows can go through a target once completely ignoring its interference, I guess that’s the ability of that bow”, said Daimon as he landed on the ground far from Marcus the next second.
The destruction caused by the invisible arrows was too weak to attribute the warning Daimon’s senses gave him to the attack itself, he still gave that aspect of the arrows the benefit of doubt which is why he repaired the reinforced shield, but at the same time he used it to see what would happen if it met those arrows.
And the result was quite interesting, the invisible arrows passed through the shield not damaging it in the slightest, before landing on the ground where they did indeed create a small crater.
That was the power of the bow, at the will of the one using it could turn the arrows into an illusory state in order to ignore interferences between them and their target, of course such a strong ability came with restrictions, the arrows were on the weaker side when it came to impact, since if too powerful then turning them into illusions would be too hard to achieve, and the effect could only be activated once, after a period of a few seconds passed whether the user wanted it or not, the arrows would return to normal, because at the end of the day the bow was just an Arch rank weapon.
That being said, its ability was perfect for rear support, just think about it, Daimon was facing an archer that basically didn’t have obstacles for his arrows, they could probably even go through Marcus’s body to reach Daimon, in fact the ones coming at him from the front earlier, probably did so, since they didn’t need to ignore the reinforced shield.
Marcus whose expression was already sour, had his face twist in anger even more, as he heard Daimon casually analyzing and cracking down how the trump card of the burning mind hell worked.
‘Damn it, why can’t he be a damn muscle-head like Adam, he is also a knight!’, cursed the devil ruler system user to his insides, to then redirect his anger somewhere else.
‘Why the hell did you not reach him in time earlier, I only needed for one damn arrow to get him, don’t fail again, that guy will probably also learn of the other effect hidden in the arrows after dodging them one or two times more’, he said to the lioness hiding in his shadow.
Earlier, the lioness was supposed to use shadow devil mana to keep Daimon in place, so that an arrow reached him, but the lioness was a fraction of a second too slow, a result of Marcus’s spell being redirected at her claws by Daimon’s staff which slowed her down for a moment.
“I still don’t get how you suddenly blocked the shockwave of my martial art though”, said Daimon to which Marcus snorted.
“Adam is also a knight, do you think I have no means to fight brutes like you, this page of my grimoire is as far as you go, if you call that hero bastard here for me, I’ll give you chance to live, you’ll just have to kill those that followed you with your own hands, what do you say?”, said the devil ruler system user making Daimon flash from where he was standing earlier.
“I say that you are getting too full of yourself for someone that is barely keeping up with me”, said Daimon as he stomped his right foot on the ground, using shattering step without calling out the name of the martial art.
He had also changed the shape of the energy boots, you see the ones he used before were created with Tessa’s energy as the base and then reinforced with Femi’s energy, and their effect was to increase Daimon’s speed though the impact they could cause was also increased thanks to the extra defense brought by the brown-red metal energy layer.
This time however while the base was still Tessa’s energy, the boots grew to cover all the way to Daimon’s knees, adding greaves to the whole thing, these were meant for attack instead of movement speed, even the layer of Femi’s energy was thicker.
“Crack!”, the moment Daimon’s foot landed on the ground, everything within thirty meters of him was blasted away causing a small but powerful tremor accompanied by a huge shockwave.
“Clang!”, this time while the impact once again surrounded Marcus instead of hitting him head on, there was a loud clashing sound produced during the whole time it lasted, which revealed the origin of this ability he had gained to Daimon.
“Fucking kill him, Black Devil Hell Breaking Arrow!”, this time Marcus casted a spell through the wraiths which were possessing the bow, a little surprise he had kept to ambush Daimon with a powerful attack.
Unfortunately, while Marcus was screaming in his mind for the invisible arrow which was coming from a random direction, to land on Daimon, his eyes nearly spat fire as he saw that he wasn’t being restrained which gave him the time to condense a bow himself and shoot an energy arrow towards him.
“Clang!”, the arrow was met with a powerful set of five black claws which belonged to the shadow lioness, however the arrow then exploded into many energy needles which were mainly blocked by the lioness, besides one that grazed Marcus’s face leaving a cut on his right cheek.
And to make matters worse, the green energy wood mask appeared in front of Daimon’s face, and he shot another arrow intercepting the invisible one forcing it to activate its illusory state before time, only for it to be blocked by the reinforced shield before it could reach Daimon as it returned to its corporeal state.
“Boooom!”, the arrow produced a loud sound and pink flames burned on the shield, but the impact wasn’t that strong, the hidden effect of the arrow on the other hand was rather dangerous.
“A curse with an effect that slows down reaction time on the target and prevents it from realizing it once it had landed, what a shame it doesn’t work once you know about it”, said Daimon.
The green energy mask not only allowed him to see the invisible arrow, but also the curse imbued into it and understand its effect and restrictions, not in the same detailed way that the infinity eyes would, but it was more of a “hunch” based on his instincts, it was like a rudimentary version of it, it’s still better than nothing though.
Marcus saw red, he looked at the shadow lioness who was shaking her body to get rid of the many energy needles that had gotten stuck on her skin earlier and then…kicker her.
“You useless thing, you couldn’t properly do neither of the tasks I assigned you!”, shouted Marcus, not only did the Lioness fail to restrain Daimon which ruined that one time curse he had prepared with the help of the burning mind hell, but she also let one of the needles reach him and make him bleed, when she is in charge of his safety.
“Of course, she couldn’t, she had to take on the impact of my martial art so that you wouldn’t end up smacked against the ground while assaulted by nature energy”, casually said Daimon.
He had understood why both Marcus was not affected by the physical impacts of his martial art, as well as why his black flames weren’t being subjugated by Tessa’s nature energy.
It was the lioness, she was transferring the physical impact and the effect of Tessa’s energy into the shadows so that it wouldn’t affect Marcus, of course in the process she resulted affected as she was in the shadows.
As for why she was slowed down, that’s simple, the impact of Femi’s energy and the nature energy of Tessa hurt, Daimon confirmed it by further increasing both, earlier by changing the shape of the boots and also releasing a massive amount of nature energy alongside the martial art all of which was absorbed by the shadows, not reaching Marcus, but damaging the lioness instead.
‘What the hell, her real self is stored within the colosseum hell so even if this body is torn apart, she can be reconstructed as many times as I want it’, he thought then say.
“Are you kidding me, you can’t even endure this much for your master and you call yourself my “shadow”, I swear why are each of these damn devils so useless!”, swore Marcus what was getting in his way was simple pain, the lioness was held back by something as mundane as that.
“Golden Opportunity Mountain Hell, Devil Boost!”, with an order, a whole mountain from the golden range hellscape disappeared, showering the shadow lioness with golden sparks that then condensed in metal energy plaques that had spikes facing inwards.
The lioness which hadn’t let out a peep nor shown any reaction even when she took Daimon’s attacks or when Marcus kicked her, slightly frowned her face when the plaques suddenly attached to her, the spikes naturally pierced her skin making her bleed, as she is a living being and not an energy condensation.
Though, the pain immediately disappeared and what’s more she grew from normal lioness size, to a golden armored black lioness almost four meter tall, the reason behind the previous is simple, Marcus had used a hill of the golden opportunity hellscape to enhance her existence as a whole and also enhance her pain endurance.
“There, now you better do your fucking job properly”, said Marcus as he jumped to sit on the back of the now armored large lioness, she had to be hidden within the shadows to use her abilities before, but now that she has received an overall boost, that was no longer necessary, so she could also assist Marcus directly and with her shadows.
“Hssssss!”, or at least that was supposed to be the case, but then under Marcus’s eyes of disbelief, bright yellow electricity started crackling around Daimon without him doing anything, it’s as if this energy was reacting to something by itself.
“Heh, looks like you pissed off a certain fierce little tiger”, said Daimon as he extended his right hand making a green wood energy-based spear with a brown-red metal energy layer reinforcing it appear for him to wield.
But that wasn’t all, bright yellow lightning arcs covered the spear, for the first time Daimon had succeeded in trying to add energy to the constructions he created with Tessa and Femi’s ones.
It wasn’t physical impact increasement or the negative subjugation side effect of combining Tessa’s energy into the construction, no, the bright yellow lightning that was continuously exploding around the spear was elemental energy with the sole purpose of increasing the attack power of whatever it was applied to, so it was basically lighting battle aura.
So, he now had access to “weapons”, “martial arts” and “battle aura” the three aspects a knight needs to pull proper attacks, though without techniques Daimon still was limited in respect to the complexity of what he could do, it was more than enough.
“Shattering Thrust”, letting the fierce feeling that came alongside the bright yellow lightning energy which he just became able to use, guide him, Daimon pushed the spear frontwards towards… the colosseum hell?
