Seeing the former winged swordsman which had caused her so much trouble, stand in front of the light princess’s last barrier, to then be protected by a light mana wall, the enemy queen snorted.

‘I’ll crush it alongside that bitch’s last barrier’, thought Erika to then exploded in fire battle aura as she shouted.

“Burning Spear!”

The attack type martial art she used “Inferno Charge” was a composed one already, it combined the “Heavy Charge” martial art that was supposed to be used by the horned horse pawn and the “Inferno Cleave” martial art which was meant to go to the general pawn, resulting in an amplified heavy charge and a halberd attack from the general.

Not to mention that the fire armor on the horned horse pawn had increased its offensive capacities, and now Erika buffed the general to grant its next attack an armor breaking effect, the enemy queen really wanted to turn both the swordsman pawn and Jasmine’s first barrier into debris.

“Booooom!”, the brown-orange stream in which the general and the horned horse pawns had turned, clashed against the light wall created by Jasmine through the swordsman pawn, and very much to Erika’s surprise, the light wall didn’t immediately break, but it only lasted for a second before cracks appeared all over its surface.

“Crack!”.

But then just as a slight smile was appearing on the face of the enemy queen as she imagined the last barrier protecting the enemy being blasted away, giving her the chance to directly attack Jasmine a couple of times before destroying her remaining pawns, the effect of the las spell used by the light princess was explained.

[Physical and Magical defense will be increased by 100% for the next thirty seconds, a defensive barrier will be deployed in front of the target and… if broken an attack equal to 300% of the damage taken will be sent back to the enemy]

‘She modified her spell again, I guess she didn’t like that the attack didn’t deal high enough damage to Adam back then’, thought Daimon.

Retribution Fortress is a mix of the spells “Silver Fortress” and “Light Fortress”, it was supposed to further increase the defense that both spells granted, while reflecting a third part of an attack blocked with it, in exchange the duration was lowered to a minute.

However, the light princess had changed it to reduce the defense increase and instead enhance the offensive part of it, so now the attack that will go back to the enemy, won’t be just a third part of it, but the damage blocked by the barrier which will be then tripled through Jasmine’s attack buff.

Erika felt the urge to curse her lings out, the light princess just used a composed spell with four different effects integrated into it, a defense buff, a defensive spell, an attack spell and lastly an attack buff, the complexity of it should be out of the charts, especially because it mixed both attack and defense effects.

The amusing part is that for Jasmine this was easier than creating a spell solely for defense or offense, because of the Ivory lineage’s trait of balancing contradictory aspects.

Anyway, right now the enemy queen didn’t have the time neither think about it nor to insult the light princess, instead of that she directly shouted.

“Retreat!”, unfortunately the damage was done, and judging by the cute cunning smile on the light princess’s face, she had fell in her trap.

And that was indeed the case, Jasmine chose the swordsman pawn which didn’t have a high defense unlike the priest pawn, so that the barrier generated by her Retribution Fortress would be destroyed “easily”, in order to activate the second part of the spell before the enemy queen could make her pawns retreat.

The other reason as to why she chose the swordsman pawn, is because unlike the priest pawn, the former was a combatant, so the produced attack will be… stronger.

Back to the battlefield, spikes suddenly emerged from the light wall which then broke down, just at the general and horned horse pawns tried to get away.

“Booom!”, the light wall exploded into countless shards of light than then condensed into a light stream that travelled back, following the route taken by the general and the horned horse pawn which were retreating as of current.

“Damn it, Heavy Charg…”, just as Erika was about to give the horned horse pawns a boost in its speed in order to help them escape, she was interrupted by a blinding white-silver light that came from the battlefield, it was the priest pawn which rolled the heavenly spear imitating Jasmine as it casted a spell.

“Silver Mirror”.

A silver metal “gate” appeared in front of the white light ray produced by Jasmine’s Retribution Fortress, absorbing the attack on one side to then release a way bigger version of it from the other.

[The next redirected attack will have its effect quadrupled]

“Nooo!”, just as the effect of Jasmine’s newest spell was explained, the enemy queen saw the attack which was already dangerous, have its size, speed and fierceness multiplied by four times, making it instantly reach the fleeing general and horned horse pawn, engulfing them the next second.

But it didn’t stop there, the white ray of light travelled all the way to Erika’s second barrier and instantly destroyed it, to then reach her first barrier.

“Booooom!”, the light ray clashed against Erika’s last barrier, the impact lasted for a whole five seconds before it ended, for a second the enemy queen thought she had gotten away with her last barrier still intact, but then, countless fractures started appearing on it.

“Crack!”, under Erika’s disbelief, her last barrier crumbled apart and that wasn’t only thing that broke down, turns out that her general and horned horse pawn managed to escape from the white ray of light, but the horned horse pawn which had blocked most of the impact for the general, was destroyed the next second.

Not to mention that the general had multiple wounds all over its body, the rock halberd was gone as well, it basically defended with everything it had and barely survived thanks to it.

Jasmine also paid a price though, the swordsman pawn ended up in a really bad state, it looked as if a breeze will make it crumble apart, apparently the Retribution Fortress put a lot of strain on its body.

“Phew”, also the light princess had used a whole bunch of mana in a single go, as her ragged breathing suggested, but she got the result she wanted, she took revenge for the heavenly sword by destroying the horned horse pawn and also blasted away the remaining barriers that Erika had.

At this point the victory was practically secured, at least in what this game regarded, that didn’t mean that Erika was going to give up though.

“Orange Regeneration Banner!”, after recovering from the shock of having her horned horse pawn and her barriers, destroyed, the enemy queen made the archer and the priest which were still inside the now immobile battering ram, go out to join the fight.

And started by using the priest pawn to heal the general, while the archer blocked the suppressive fire of the ranger which aimed to finish off the general.

She was just postponing the inevitable though, the heavy warrior pawn with the help of the spearman pawn, as well as the assassin pawn rushed towards Erika’s remaining three pawns, cutting their way of retreat.

And so, Erika’s archer, priest and general pawns found themselves surrounding by Jasmine’s priest, heavy warrior, spearman, hunter and even the assassin pawn which had stopped hiding in the shadows, in was checkmate.

“Crush them”, with a tinge of ridicule in her pretty mellow voice, the light princess returned the words that the enemy queen used earlier, right back at her.

The result was as expected, the archer was the first one to go down, beheaded by the assassin pawn, while the priest created a barrier with earth battle aura to protect itself and the general pawn.

Naturally, Jasmine wasn’t urging her pawns to destroy Erika’s ones out of recklessness or pettiness, she didn’t want to give the enemy queen the chance to use that self-destroying martial art she used on the tank pawn, that and she… will be running out of mana any second now, she simply had used too much and still had to retain the control over her pawns after all.

Seeing that her pawns were done for, the enemy queen saw red but contrary to what one would expect, she didn’t even attempt to make the general self-destroy, perhaps it was because the general pawn represented the Balax Lord for her, not to mention that after the initial rage attack Erika suffered when her barriers and the horse pawn were destroyed, she didn’t even try to attack anymore, it was as if she had given up, something that the light princess disdained.

“What is up with that glare, do you think you have already won, I’m going to mob the floor with you in a moment!”, exclaimed the enemy queen to which Jasmine snorted as she said.

“Humph, no matter the aspect, a fanatic will never be an opponent for a real companion”.

Thanks to Daimon the light princess had learned that admiring someone that protects you is fine, but being able to answer to that in kind is even better, she didn’t want to be baggage that Daimon had to carry, but someone that walks alongside him after all.

The enemy queen felt her chest filling with anger, she already had a lot in her plate by being forced to watch how her general was besieged in every direction, the barrier protecting her last two pawns will break any second and they’ll be destroyed, it was utter humiliation.

However, she couldn’t or more accurately shouldn’t do anything about it, because she noticed the tiredness on the opponent, she knew that Jasmine was really low in terms of energy reserves and if she dragged things more, the light princess will have the time to recover even if it was just a bit, so for the sake of winning the war she was forced to lose a battle.

‘Endure it Erika, it will be the last time she’ll be able to smile in her life!!!’, thought the enemy queen, just in time for the barrier created by her priest pawn to break apart.

“Crack!”.

“Booom!”, the very moment the barrier disappeared, Jasmine’s pawns, the spearman and her priest pawns to be more accurate destroyed Erika’s priest, as for the general which had been slightly healed, it exchanged a few attacks with the heavy warrior pawn, before the assassin stabbed its head from behind, beheading it the next second.

At the same time, the light on the eyes of Jasmine’s pawns completely disappeared, the light princess had reached her limit, she still had enough mana to not faint on the spot, but she was gasping for air while her pretty face had paled a bit.

The announcement of victory for the game, made Jasmine smile, but then a second part which she didn’t expect, made her furrow her brows.

[Remaining Time: sixty seconds]

Apparently, she had to use her one-time chance to attack a defenseless Erika, during the next minute, meaning that she had no time to rest, and judging by the mocking smile on the enemy queen’s face, she already knew that was going to be case, which meant that this was probably a modification to the game, made by the Balax Lord.

“Let me…”, just as Daimon was about to suggest lending Disaster, or more accurately Gram to Jasmine, so that she could cause some decent damage to Erika’s tough knight’s physique, the light princess slowly but surely floated towards the enemy queen who welcomed her with a mocking smile.

“Do you regret using so many “flashy” spells now you ungrateful…”.

“Slap!”, Erika’s words stuck in her throat as Jasmine’s pretty right hand, which was coated in a thin layer of mana, in the form of a white glove, slapped her face.

Though the sound produced by the slap was loud, there was no strength behind of it, Jasmine is a mage after all and she didn’t use any spell nor reinforce her body with mana, the light glove was just so that she wouldn’t end up harming herself due to Erika’s tough physique.

However, the impact behind of that single slap in which she used her sole chance to attack Erika, was huge.

“How dare you!!!!”, the enemy queen exploded in fire battle aura, she finally couldn’t hold back her anger and directly aimed to punch Jasmine on the face to wash away her embarrassment, just to be restrained by the barrier of the challenge, since the time for them to fight directly hadn’t come yet.

“I still had enough mana for that”, casually added the light princess, making Erika’s eyes become Bloodshot.

“You are dead, do you hear me, you are dead meat you fucking…”, as if to rub salt on the wound, the barrier which was restraining her, even isolated the sound inside of it, so that all the profanities that were being shouted by Erika couldn’t be heard by anyone but her.

Now imagine her twisted expression as the light princess turned her back on her to return to Daimon’s side, while Daimon waved his right hand with which he was holding his black sea emblem.

That’s right, the one who “muted” Erika was Daimon, since the Balax Lord had messed with the reward for the winner of the game, giving it a time limit, he got back at him by not even allowing the enemy queen to vent her anger through insults, simple but incredibly effective judging by how Erika was punching and kicking the barrier while moving her mouth at fast speed, meaning that she was cursing while trying to get out of the restriction to attack Jasmine.

“I didn’t expect you to provoke her like that, should I ask Reyne and Cassy to keep Sarah away from you from now and onwards?”, jokingly said Daimon to the incoming light princess who giggled in response to then say.

“I want to win against her head on, that slap was because she insulted my sisters… and Daimon”, her voice became lower by the end of her sentence turning into a mumble, but Daimon could perfectly hear it.

“I see… good job”, said Daimon as he patted the light princess’s head, making the latter smile.

“Mm~”.

‘Heh, aren’t you pampering her a bit too much?’, mumbled a certain administrator girl, with a slightly jealous voice, naturally that was Eve.

‘Eve is jealous because she can’t receive Daimon’s attention yet, but she defended Daimon so I like her~’, casually added Narasha, nearly making Eve choke with her own saliva.

‘Hey Nasha, aren’t you my bestie, why are you supporting the other party!’, exclaimed the administrator girl, which made Daimon chuckle.

Certainly, he got strangely closer to the light princess, but the same could be said about Reyne and even Sarah as much as he didn’t want to admit it, perhaps because he has spent some time alone with them, not to mention they battled a system user alongside him.

“Ahem, do you want some time to recover or…”, said Daimon as he saw the portal that was going to take the queens to their battlefield, appear not too far from Jasmine.

His black sea emblem was telling it that if he so wanted to, it could prevent the light princess from being forcefully teleported, since the Balax Lord had interfered to give Erika an advantage, he as a king piece had the right to do the same.

Of course, even without the emblem’s interference, Daimon could sort things out by himself, thanks to a certain undead head maid who could hide Jasmine inside the shadow realm, where she wouldn’t be detected, and only take her out once she had fully recovered.

Naturally it’s not as if Daimon thought that the light princess was going to lose without his help, that was just him doing what he was supposed to as a king piece, on the other hand, before and before that, he is Jasmine’s friend and that’s why he didn’t act on his own and instead asked her what she wanted.

He still felt disgusted at the fact that the light princess was going to be used as a pair of spare lives by Adam, so he wasn’t going to ignore Jasmine’s will, something that the light princess knew and liked about Daimon, for him she can be a princess but she isn’t a “damsel in distress”.

“Thanks, but I want to defeat her on my own…”, mumbled Jasmine, which made Daimon softly laugh behind his mask, he found this stubborn side of the light princess cute.

“I’ll still interfere if “others” do it though”, said Daimon as he glared at a very specific direction in the sky, to then let go of Jasmine who nodded at him before entering the portal, followed by Erika doing the same.

The portals closed and a second later both Jasmine and Erika had appeared on the ground a few dozens of kilometers away from their previous positions, the enemy queen was giving Jasmine a poisonous glare while she counted the seconds before the barrier that prevented them from attacking each other, faded away.

Unfortunately for her, the light princess was completely ignoring her, in fact Jasmine had her eyes closed, which made the enemy queen snort.

“There is no way you recover your mana in time, even if you use that outrageous recovery spell on yourself, the strain on your body due to the recovery will drain your stamina like crazy and even if you have a spell to restore stamina as well, it will cost you mana, you are dead!”, she exclaimed, to which the light princess opened her eyes, showing the white halos that had appeared in her blue pupils.

High into the sky Daimon who was smiling behind his mask, knowing what was about to happen, felt the white crystal feather pendant hanging from his neck, tremble for a second.

“Boooom!”, a loud explosion followed by a pillar of white light which raised into the sky, illuminated the battlefield of the queens, taking Erika by surprise.

“No way!”, she screamed, but her angered voice was shadowed by the loud laugh of a certain crazy girl.

“That’s my little Jas~”, cheered Sarah as she saw the… nether being released by her youngest sister.

“Despite all the mistakes you committed, you were right about something, having dual affinities is surely a big advantage~”, said the light princess as she absorbed back all the nether she had manifested, it’s obvious at this point due to the white color, but contrary to her sisters, her nether was light based.

Which is why Erika was taken aback, the reason as to why she mocked Jasmine is because, given that she is the Balax Lord’s daughter, if she had awakened nether like Reyne or Sarah, the enemy queen should have been able to feel energy from the negative side of the spectrum, but she couldn’t, hence why she looked down on the light princess.

Never did it cross her mind that her nether would actually be light based and she wasn’t the only one, the one that informed her that Jasmine was “weak” was her Lord… in other words, the light princess had managed to trick the Balax Lord!
