Reincarnated with the King’s Power
Chapter 257 : Chapter 257
Chapter 257
“You look quite flustered.”
[...!!]
The queen looked flustered at the sight of Killian standing there unharmed.
She struggled to keep her balance against the dizziness.
‘There is no way I was caught by an illusion.’
No human possessed a rank capable of casting illusion or mind-control magic on her.
In other words—
‘Everything is real.’
The wounds she had inflicted upon him and the fact that this was a Mind Image World were both true.
She raised her gaze.
[...]
She realized that the eight spheres floating in the air were the cause of her dizziness.
Each sphere’s power was affecting her body’s senses in its own way, shaking them at will.
‘He has skillfully manifested a single domain.’
But that was not the only power at work.
She examined another domain spread around her.
A violet tower, a dense forest, a giant tree rising above it, and mana focusing all of them.
[I see.]
Having grasped the truth, the queen nodded.
This was not a Mind Image World in its raw state, but a trap laid with mana by someone who had taken control of a Mind Image World.
[It is absurd use of mana.]
She was someone who had lived for nearly a thousand years.
Superhumans, High Elves, dwarves, rulers of mountain ranges, rulers of the sea, Chief Priests, and Divine Maidens.
She had devoured countless beings so far.
But not once among them had she seen someone control their Mind Image World to this degree.
No one had ever shown such a varied Mind Image World.
[What are you?]
“Killian Eurasia.”
Killian answered calmly, looking around Carpe Illusion, which occupied his Mind Image, with satisfaction.
It was because he remembered the considerable effort it had taken to reach his current level.
Meanwhile, the queen searched her memories.
‘Eurasia.’
It was a name from the memories of one of the people she had devoured.
A kingdom that had been quite powerful several centuries ago, but had fallen.
She could not understand why a knight of the Continent was with an Aquares subjugation force.
[So the arrogant Crown Prince did not bring forces of this size for no reason.]
She knew that Aquares and the other Ocean Current Nations had some rather strong humans.
Telesas were strong, but their reproductive ability was weak, so their numbers were greatly lacking.
For that reason, she had captured Superhumans one by one. She had been gradually whittling down their strength in preparation for the coming war.
[You must be their greatest strength.]
A human who had reached 8-star and wielded three colors of mana.
The man before her, who possessed three domains, must be the Crown Prince’s greatest force.
Even so—
[Do not put on airs.]
His real body outside had suffered mortal wounds and was wandering at death’s door.
[They are not wounds that the crude healing magic of a mage can restore.]
“Humans and monsters alike cannot distinguish confidence from bluffing.”
[Mana alone...]
“Those who called themselves Gods said the same.”
[...?]
Whoooosh.
Divine Power manifested from Killian’s body.
Rumble.
Enormous Barriers rose on all sides and surrounded the Mind Image World.
It was not mana, but an Authority.
“Have you ever seen a Barrier?”
The queen’s body trembled faintly.
It was the racial memory engraved when Neptune had violated her ancestor.
Moreover, the Divine Power the man before her emitted was on a level not inferior to that of the Chief Priest of the Temple of the Sea.
A person who had directly received a revelation from a God.
[You are an Apostle?!!]
“It happened somehow.”
More precisely, he was merely a business partner working to achieve the same goal.
But there was no need to explain that far.
‘How... How can someone who uses mana use Divine Power...?’
Just as Evil Energy and Divine Power could not coexist, mana and Divine Power were likewise incompatible. Even her species had taken thousands of years to fuse Evil Energy and Divine Power.
[...]
When she calmed her excitement, the queen’s mind cooled.
[You too are a Demigod.]
“No.”
He was not anything like a Demigod.
He was merely—
“A revenger.”
Rumble.
As though refusing to miss the queen’s wavering, the Haki around them intensified and bore down on her.
Creak.
Branches from the fairy race’s Divine Tree coiled around her body.
Clatter.
Chains connected to the Magic Tower bound her hands and feet.
Green and violet.
The two manas completely constricted her within the Mind Image World.
Srrk.
Blue mana rose in Killian’s eyes.
[How dare you!]
Having grasped the meaning of his action, the queen roared.
[Whose memories do you think you are going to consume?!]
The Telesa race devoured its opponents and absorbed their memories.
That was the Authority she, the queen of the species, had achieved by enduring and evolving over a long time.
To invade her Mind Image World in reverse meant challenging the Authority imprinted upon her species.
“Violet.”
As though answering the call, a voice rang throughout the area.
[The ‘Violet Magic Tower’ answers the ‘Guardian’s’ call.]
[The ‘Violet Magic Tower’ analyzes the ‘Contacted Entity.’]
Squeeze.
The Magic Tower’s chains constricted the queen.
[With something like this...]
The queen released the power fused from Evil Energy and Divine Power to endure, but—
Ssssss.
Part of the resisting power was drawn into the Divine Tree, while another part was drawn into the Magic Tower.
Saaaa—
As though purifying the power, the Divine Tree sprouted fresher leaves.
Rumble—
As though analyzing the power, the Magic Tower exhaled more intense mana.
After that brief struggle of power.
Ding.
[The ‘Violet Magic Tower’ has completed its analysis of the ‘Contacted Entity.’]
[It has identified an ancient species: ‘Siren.’]
So that anyone in the Mind Image World could hear, the Magic Tower announced the queen’s origin.
[...!!]
The queen showed a rare trace of alarm.
“I see. You were a Siren.”
Killian tilted his head for a moment, then wore an expression of understanding.
“So there was a species among the ancients that survived?”
A species once called the voice that ruled the sky.
“You abandoned the sky and fled, only to survive in an interesting form.”
The queen’s body trembled at the calm voice, which spoke as though recounting an event from only a short time ago.
“It is nice to see you.”
Killian grinned and strengthened all three colors of mana.
[I will assist you.]
Having noticed what Killian intended to do, Murus spoke in a voice only Killian could hear.
Many things had changed after he reached 8-star.
Authorities he could not properly imitate at 7-star.
Though he was limited to the realm of the Mind Image World and still had to fulfill several restrictions and conditions—
“Peeking into the memories of a half-finished God is nothing.”
The system built by the Violet Magic Tower displayed messages.
[It imitates the ‘Authority of Infiltration.’]
[It imitates the ‘Authority of Search.’]
[It imitates the ‘Authority of the Observer.’]
With a harmless smile—
Tap.
Killian placed a hand on the queen’s shoulder.
Then.
Ding.
[It reads the memories of the ancient species ‘Siren.’]
He succeeded in infiltrating the queen’s Mind Image World.
***
Sirens.
They had originally had wings and flown through the sky, and even among beings called monsters, they had been an extremely powerful species.
With the mobility of their wings, they traveled great distances swiftly. Because their enchanting voices could seize their opponents’ minds, they had even called themselves the rulers of the sky, save for the dragon race.
They had destroyed the forests of the coy fairy race and raided the mines of the savage dwarf race, causing them to collapse.
Many humans had also been captured by Sirens and turned into lumps of meat.
The memories of those they consumed were acquired with a low probability, allowing the Sirens to gradually develop greater intelligence.
But they had been mistaken about one thing: mortals were not the true masters of the sky.
The Sirens’ growth was far too conspicuous.
[Insects that you are, you are irritating.]
Gods were not merciful enough to leave alive those who offended their eyes.
[Such arrogance, to approach the Sun.]
One God set the sky on fire and burned them.
[Would you not like to hear their screams?]
The God beside him brought down lightning and made them fall.
[When one flies high, one is bound to fall.]
Another God raised wind and tore apart the panic-stricken Sirens.
Half the species died from only a few gestures by the Gods.
The land was no more welcoming to them.
“Do not let them into the forest!”
The fairies hunted them with arrows.
“This is revenge for collapsing the mines!”
The dwarves restrained them with gunfire.
[Grrrrr.]
The monsters that roamed the ground marked them as prey and charged.
The survivors barely fled into a cave somewhere.
They intended to hide their wings and quietly rebuild their numbers while avoiding the eyes of the Gods and other races.
But they were unlucky.
A tiger was staying there.
Around fifty Sirens had survived.
The tiger was alone.
They tried to take the tiger’s place, but—
[How dare you.]
The tiger was an infamous God who had transformed into a four-legged beast.
With one kick, heads and bodies were separated.
One surviving Siren flew desperately toward the water.
With her wings already torn apart, she could not possibly cross the sea.
Soon, the tiger would find her and take her life.
Then the sea parted, and a young man with blue hair appeared.
The God of the Sea.
[N-Neptune...]
[Do not worry. I am merciful.]
[Save me...]
[Yes, I will save you.]
Waves swept over the Siren’s body.
Divine Power rushed into every part of the Siren’s body that touched the water.
The Siren screamed in the pain of her flesh tearing apart.
How long was she carried by the waves?
When the Siren came to, she was on an island.
She languished and gave birth to two Sirens.
Her wings had degenerated, and fins had developed.
[We have gone extinct after all.]
Those were the words of the first Siren to begin life on the island before she died.
[We who cannot fly are no longer Sirens.]
That was not the only change.
The children born to that Siren, and their children in turn, could not endure the God’s power and died before living even several decades.
They began to curse the God’s power that mortal bodies could not withstand.
Some even said it would have been better to go extinct in that cave that day. Then they would not have suffered this pain.
Only after thousands of years did a change appear.
When people from the surrounding land began to call them Telesas, someone was born who had an appearance entirely different from the Sirens of old.
She used the diluted Divine Power and did not die even after decades had passed.
The descendants she bore even survived past a hundred years of age.
[I am Siren.]
The one who had begun to be called the queen of the Telesas named herself so.
[It is not time yet.]
The Telesas had reproduced by consuming the creatures of the sea.
Siren wished to attack the Temple of the Sea, but merely encountering another’s Divine Power seemed to awaken the terror imprinted upon her species.
[I am Siren.]
She attacked ships heading to the temple to sever exchange.
[A species born from a God’s infidelity.]
Consuming the humans aboard to increase her knowledge was merely an added benefit.
[I am the being who will become the new God of the Sea.]
After thousands of years, the ancient species that had not forgotten its name declared war.
***
[Gaaaaaah—]
The queen, Siren, let out a cry.
Killian, back in his original state, looked at the queen as she sent power pouring in every direction.
‘I heard they went extinct after drawing Pantera’s attention.’
Thousands of years had passed since he had thought of them.
“You fled from the sky and the land, then hid in the water and survived.”
They had not gone extinct. They had evolved on some island into a new species called Telesas.
[What are you?]
The queen’s rampaging rank burst out everywhere.
She had released the rank of one who had lived for a thousand years.
[The ‘Violet Magic Tower’...]
The Magic Tower sent a message that danger was approaching.
But Killian did not care.
“I told you. I am a revenger.”
Killian raised his own rank to meet hers.
