Chapter 240

Sharle ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍was a genius.

She ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍sensed Mana from the moment she was born, and formed a Mana Heart by herself before she turned ten.

When ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍Sharle entered the Magic Tower, Violet was certain.

That, ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍even among Cornelia’s direct descendants said to be blessed by Mana, she would be the child most blessed by Mana.

Her ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍expectations were not wrong in the slightest.

Before ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍reaching 5-Star, she understood Cornelia’s Secret Magic.

She had the resourcefulness to learn creation magic and find her own means of facing an Arch Mage despite being only 6-Star.

Even without synchronizing with the Magic Tower, she stood before the complete realm of an Arch Mage, and she would likely reach 8-Star at a younger age than Hegel.

Perhaps she would reach the end of magic earlier than Diana, who mastered 9-Star only just before death.

Violet did not doubt in the slightest that she would inherit Diana’s will.

She was certain that she would if she accepted the Seed.

Such a person had forgotten how to use Mana.

“I must be under a Curse.”

Sharle said self-mockingly.

“At first, I did not even realize that I had forgotten Mana.”

She let time pass without a chance even to understand what had happened to her body.

[The Curse of Oblivion alone could not have produced this effect.]

Violet had taken every possible precaution so that Sharle would not fall prey to the Transcendents’ tricks.

Then there was only one possibility worth suspecting.

[Roto’s Authority helped the Curse infiltrate.]

Using the Authority of Keys, it ignored the Magic Tower’s protection and completely erased how to use Mana.

Just when she had finally recovered the memories she had lost.

[What vicious bastards.]

Violet ground her teeth.

At this rate, Diana’s Seed would be lost.

An item that had waited hundreds of years for its owner.

It had to be passed on to fulfill Cornelia’s long-cherished wish, and it might even be more important than the Violet Magic Tower.

[It is too early to give up.]

Outside her consciousness, Killian Eurasia was still buying time.

Just as time flowed differently inside and outside the Magic Tower, time flowed differently inside and outside consciousness.

[No matter who he is, he cannot exert his full strength if he can only hold them back.]

“Is there a way to lift the Curse?”

[Even if it is oblivion, it happened inside the Mind Image World.]

Rastian Arken must have pulled a trick before his mental body vanished.

[Whether it is a God’s Authority or a Grotesquery’s Curse, if it used its power within the Magic Tower, the residue left behind will remain somewhere in here.]

Violet quickly searched the Magic Tower’s interior.

It did not take long to find a suspicious place.

Shhhhh.

The surrounding space changed.

Hundreds of doors appeared.

The doors were connected to rooms.

It was the space Killian had been guided to earlier.

[Here.]

Somewhere here was the memory that the Curse of Oblivion had made her forget.

“Do I have to search every room that holds memories?”

[I do not know the method either.]

“...”

[But for now, we have no choice but to find it somehow. According to the records, Roto manifests keys through which he can exercise his Authority.]

Sharle recalled the Divine Object she had borrowed from the temple.

“The Key that Protects the World.”

Normally, she would at least have tried to realize it through creation magic.

“Right now, I cannot even imitate it.”

[That is a problem for later.]

No one knew when Killian Eurasia, who was blocking the fragment of the God, would collapse.

No one knew when Murus’s golem, which was dealing with the fragment of the Grotesquery, would melt away.

[I will help you, so first...]

Before Violet could finish speaking.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

The doors began to multiply.

From hundreds to thousands.

From thousands to tens of thousands...

[Not so fast!]

Violet shouted and limited the number of doors that were increasing without end.

“Violet, this...”

[There is no time, Sharle!]

Violet would stop the doors from multiplying and focus on maintaining the Seed, so Sharle had to find the room where the memory was hidden.

She told Sharle to find the key Roto had hidden and shatter the Curse of Oblivion.

[You can do it.]

Nod.

Sharle answered with a gesture and ran straight toward the first door.

Without Mana, she could not use any detection magic.

‘I have no choice but to open them one by one.’

As for perseverance, she was confident.

Bang.

Sharle threw open the first door.

Light poured out, flashing across her vision.

A memory rushed into her mind.

It was not what she was looking for, but another person’s memory.

[I am Roto, the God who protects everything.]

Someone in the form of a boy stepped onto the ground.

[Adamas.]

A Transcendent bearing a complete Godhead called the name of the Human standing before him.

“We are not your toys.”

An ancient Human who had risen to the rank of Transcendence through Mana.

“Key.”

The Human did not tremble even before a God.

[Insolent bastard.]

“That will not make me submit.”

[You dare act up without knowing your place!]

The battle between the God and the Human who had risen to Transcendence was imprinted in Sharle’s mind.

***

Each time she opened a door, a memory flowed in.

“Sharle Cornelia. What truly genius talent.”

There were some that were hers.

[Adamas!]

And there were others that were not.

“...”

Sharle silently took all of them into her mind.

New memories accumulated.

“Magic Sword Adamas.”

Why did the Magic Tower possess his memories?

She could not understand why, but she gradually accumulated Adamas’s memories.

Every person who wielded the Magic Sword rose to the rank of Superhuman.

Edan Eurasia, called the Knight King hundreds of years ago, was one such person, as was Mercenary King Bismarck, who had made his name still earlier.

From knights who walked the path of the sword to mages who studied magic, countless people were influenced merely by its existence.

With every door she opened, years, hundreds of years, and thousands of years passed.

Her violet hair repeatedly grew longer and shorter.

Her hair, once a vivid violet, turned pure white, then at some point lost all color.

One by one, wrinkles formed in her once-smooth skin. Her straight back bent, and her body grew frail.

Because she lost muscle, the time it took to move from room to room gradually increased.

By the time she could no longer understand why she was repeating the same actions now.

She saw a new memory.

A silver-haired man was running somewhere.

Divine Objects reacted to stop his path. Every Divine Object was a fragment containing a God’s will.

[Adamas.]

Some called him indifferently.

[Adamas!]

Some intensely.

The Gods treated the silver-haired man as the ancient Human who had opposed them.

“We are not close enough to exchange friendly greetings.”

The man likewise took it in stride and swung his sword.

With one slash, he cut a Divine Object.

The man asked the God.

“Why did you disappear?”

[Perhaps the you of the past could bear it, but the truth is more than your current level can handle.]

“That again?”

[Was it not a seal you had only just broken? Do not be impatient.]

The God warned him that surviving what was before him took priority.

“Were you agitated because your betrothed was injured?”

“No.”

Contrary to his words, sparks burned in the man’s eyes.

“The same will happen to you.”

He swung his sword without hesitation at the Commander of the Holy Knights, who was one step above him.

In the memory that followed immediately, the man faced a Death Knight wrapped in Radiance and Evil Energy.

His sad expression lasted only a moment.

The man, having made his decision, tightened his grip on his sword.

“Agnil. It is time for you to die.”

He granted eternal rest to his close friend, who could not die even in death.

Memories overlapped.

Memories accumulated over thousands of years formed a single flow.

‘I see.’

“Let me say it again.”

‘It was you.’

“Fourth Prince of Eurasia.”

‘The truth you had hidden.’

“I am Killian Eurasia, the Captain of the Annihilation Squad.”

‘Adamas.’

The owner of the memories she had glimpsed.

“Killian.”

She spoke the name of the one who had been a God-Slayer.

Clench.

“...”

Only then did she look down at her hand.

Her skeletal hand gripped the handle of a door.

She did not remember how many doors she had opened. Perhaps thousands more doors remained ahead.

Her body had aged as the price of opening doors without using Mana. But that did not mean that her mind had aged as well.

“It is not over yet.”

Although she had been made unable to imagine using Mana, the memories of the person who had become unable to use Mana were vividly imprinted within her.

Click.

She turned the handle.

Creak.

She threw her body against the door and pushed it open.

Normally, the moment she opened the door, someone’s memory should have emerged.

Their thoughts and feelings should have been vividly conveyed to her and imprinted upon her.

But the memory did not replay.

“...”

Before her stood only a middle-aged man with his back to her.

“Uncle.”

Sharle called to the man.

The man turned around. His appearance felt so artificial that she laughed without meaning to.

“Sharle.”

Kiel Cornelia called to her.

“You have grown old.”

That was what he said as he looked at her, now beyond middle age and nearing old age.

“It was not easy to get here.”

“I see.”

“Uncle, you are not my memory.”

If he were a memory, the replay should have begun.

But now, it had not.

“It is because of you.”

“...”

“Because of you, I died.”

Kiel looked at her with resentful eyes.

‘The uncle before me is false.’

She knew it in her mind.

‘But my body...’

Her body would not move, as though frozen.

Kiel extended his hand.

Violet Mana surged along his hand.

Undisguised hostility.

‘I have to avoid it.’

Arch Mage magic was not something a person who had forgotten how to use Mana could handle.

Contrary to her rational thoughts, her body responded slowly.

“Pay the price.”

Because she had caused his death.

“It would not be bad to die by my magic.”

‘Uncle would never say such a thing.’

At the moment she had that thought.

“I will become a fence for Humanity.”

A man’s voice sounded in her mind.

Killian Eurasia.

The owner of the countless memories she had seen.

He was pointing his sword at the God he faced.

[It is too great a dream for a mortal.]

The God in the form of a boy spoke.

He held a key made of Divine Power in his hand.

“This time will be different. I am not alone.”

Killian Eurasia was smiling.

With confidence as though he did not even consider defeat.

“Sharle.”

His lips moved.

“Do not give up.”

It was a murmur almost like he was speaking to himself.

The voice cut off.

“...”

Only then did she realize that it was Violet, who had not been able to help her before, helping her now.

The foggy haze that had filled her mind had somehow become clear.

She looked at her hand.

At some point, a sword made of violet Mana was in it.

“Adamas.”

The ancient Human and Magic Sword who had declared himself Humanity’s light.

The essence of the knight who was opposing a God and protecting her even at this moment.

She was glad that she had come to hold the same kind of sword he held.

She had never swung a sword before.

She merely threw herself forward and charged.

Stab.

The sound of skin being pierced.

An unfamiliar sensation traveled through her fingertips.

It was unrealistic for Kiel to be struck down this easily.

“I curse you.”

“Uncle has never said such a thing.”

“You, to me...”

“It seems I found the right place after all.”

Interrupting Kiel, she looked at the box behind him.

It had an exterior that glittered gold.

“If you open the box, the Magic Tower will collapse.”

“If it is an illusion that must collapse, I will gladly make it collapse.”

She had not found a key with which to open the box.

No.

“Perhaps there was never a key from the beginning.”

She reversed her grip on the sword she held and raised it.

And then.

Crunch.

She drove it straight down into the box.

“I am Sharle Cornelia.”

Along the sword that had pierced the box.

Violet Mana rose.

“A mage of violet.”

Her eyes turned violet.

“I wish to inherit my ancestor’s will.”

The space surrounding her collapsed.
