Chapter 2067: A Battle Between Evil Gods
-----
Lolth vomited blood as her soul suffered another devastating blow. Her eyes darted toward the burning figure. Beelzebub, who wasn’t struggling much but would have appreciated some help, smiled.
"Armageddon!"
Lolth and Beelzebub shouted her name as she surged into the sky, thrusting her hands upward. A titanic sphere of burning flame materialized above her.
"Divine Star of Destruction!"
The colossal sphere plummeted toward Lolth’s vessel and detonated. Scorching flames engulfed her entire body. The Evil Goddess screamed in agony as her form exploded and began disintegrating under the relentless blaze.
"Aaaaaggghhh!"
The vessel lost nearly seventy percent of its mass. Lolth’s soul burned as well, writhing in excruciating pain. Her body crumbled, unable to hold itself together.
"Damn it! No! You can’t die yet!"
She poured her divine power into the vessel, forcing it to regenerate into a grotesque abomination—half dragon, half spider, and half infernal tree. Branch-like wings spread wide as multiple heads and legs sprouted across its form.
"RAAAAHHHH!"
Driven by monstrous, divine fury, Lolth charged at Armageddon and Beelzebub simultaneously. She clashed against both gods at once, pushing them back. Shockwaves rippled outward as the two insect deities held their ground, distorting space and shattering Beelzebub’s domain.
Lolth unleashed a relentless barrage of magic attacks—beams of energy, divine flames, and a powerful technique she wove into reality: a giant spear of pitch-black energy.
"Divine Void Weaving Art – Soul-Destroying Umbral Spear!"
The spear hurtled toward both opponents. Armageddon channeled her divinity to resist, but her flames flickered and burst apart. The spear struck true...
...only to be caught by Beelzebub’s arm. He seized the spear despite the damage searing his soul and roared back.
"Take it back!"
Using the opening Armageddon had created, Beelzebub manifested a massive Divine Avatar resembling an enormous fly. He infused it with power to match the size of Lolth’s vessel, then drove his fist straight through her chest, shattering her core with her own spear.
"W-WHA...?! T-THIS IS...! YOU DAMN...!"
BOOOMMM!!!
Lolth’s vessel could endure no more. It exploded into cinders. A deep, sharp wound tore through her True Soul, leaving a gaping hole. She immediately withdrew her divinity and fled the dungeon, though her curse still lingered... slowly being devoured by a mysterious presence.
"W-What is this?! Who is...!"
As her senses faded from the dungeon, Lolth’s eyes darted wildly. She spotted her two familiars still fighting the others.
"Right, you two can become my vessels as well!"
Clenching her mandibles, she channeled her divine power into the Demonic Spirit Tree and the Infernal Treant Queen, forcing them to fuse.
Beelzebub and Armageddon stared in shock at her stubborn persistence. She emerged once more in an even stronger vessel, absorbing the surrounding miasma.
"Don’t underestimate me, you lowly mortals!"
An evil, sadistic laugh erupted from her as she surged with overwhelming power. She reshaped her titanic form, fusing the two familiars into a complete, far more powerful divine abomination—dragon-like and spider-like. It charged forward, clashing violently with everyone who stood against her.
CRAAASH!
Explosions of divine purple flames and poisonous curses erupted. Ignatius, Yggdra, Naturia, Pyuku, Violet, and the rest were blasted away, crashing into the burning forest. Lolth’s colossal form loomed above them, her glowing red eyes filled with malice.
"Hey, you have to fight me instead!"
"And me!"
Beelzebub and Armageddon pursued her furiously, flying straight at her and attacking with everything they had.
"Divine Star of Destruction – Nova Rain!"
Armageddon evolved her technique further, summoning gigantic suns and raining them down upon Lolth. Each impact triggered massive explosions across the goddess’s enormous body.
"Vengeful Demon Spirits – Divine Legion Avatar!"
Beelzebub fused millions of demonic spirits into a colossal divine avatar shaped like a demonic fly. It tore into Lolth’s form with razor-sharp claws and spat soul-devouring venom into her body.
"GRRRRR!"
Yet Lolth’s new vessel proved far stronger than before. Tougher, with superior regeneration, and partly composed of the alchemy spirit born from Beelzebub himself, it resisted his destructive techniques with ease. She smiled through her twisted mandibles.
"WEAK! HAHAHA!"
She regenerated effortlessly, then kicked both gods away with devastating force. Their divine techniques shattered, sending painful backlash through their bodies. Both vomited blood as agony twisted their forms.
"It’s clear how amateur you are among us gods! Did you really think you could defeat me by spamming the same technique over and over?! You believed I wouldn’t find a way to counter it?! And you didn’t even consider the backlash! When a divine technique is interrupted, you suffer the consequences—because divine techniques are born from your own divinity, your soul, and your lifeblood! HAHAHAHA! FOOLS!"
Despite their rage and frustration, Lolth was right. The world of gods operated on entirely different rules than the mortal realm. Battles between gods were far more complex. While mortals could rely on repetition, gods possessed Adaptability within their divine power. They could endlessly transform not only their bodies but also their souls and abilities, evolving with every battle and resource they claimed.
This was one of the greatest differences between gods and mortals—and the reason gods stood so far above them.
However, this same adaptability came with dangerous weaknesses. To truly harm another god, one had to use their own divinity directly. It was like a swordsman using their own heart as a blade—extremely risky. That was why experienced gods had developed countless techniques to reduce the strain, pain, damage, and backlash.
For ancient gods, fighting with divinity was like a game of chess. But for novice gods who had only recently ascended—or even Armageddon, who at five hundred years old was still considered a mere child by divine standards—they could be easily caught off guard.
"D-Damn it! T-This is unbelievable...!" Armageddon groaned, forcing herself to stand. "I’ve lived for five hundred years! Do you truly think I am weak?!"
"Oh no, dear. I know you’ve lived far longer than these mortals," Lolth replied. "We’ve negotiated a few times in the past. I even had high hopes that you would become a great evil goddess one day. You were among those I wanted to see blossom... and devour."
