Chapter 1962: Entering The Glacial Caves Dungeon

“T-The princess, you say?!” the dwarves gasped when they heard Aquarina refer to me.

“Yes, it’s me!” I said with a bright smile. “And Aquarina’s my girlfriend—soon to be my wife officially. We’ll get married in a year or two.”

“O-Oooh?!”

“I-I see!”

They clearly weren’t used to hearing a same-sex relationship spoken about so openly, but they didn’t act rude about it either.

“A-Ah, please, go ahead, Lady Aquarina.”

The dwarves nodded nervously and stepped aside. She waved at me and winked. “Alright, I’m going! Take care, Sylphy! See you at dinner!”

“Yeah, honey! Love you!” I called back, waving and blowing a kiss through the air.

As I watched her hurry toward the Dark Savanna Dungeon, I turned and headed downstairs. The air grew steadily colder with each step. Ignatius, Yggdra, and Alice materialized beside me, settling on my shoulders and head.

“Hm, so this is the path to that Glacial Dungeon or whatever it’s called?” Ignatius asked.

“Yup, should be,” I nodded.

“Aren’t you nervous, Sylphy?” Yggdra asked gently.

“Why would I be nervous when I have you guys?” I laughed warmly. “All of you are like one huge family anyway. I’m never really alone, haha.”

“Well, that’s true!” Ignatius agreed with a proud nod. “Hey, I wonder if there’s a dragon in here we could get for my evolution.”

“I doubt it,” Alice said dryly. “Don’t get your hopes too high, Ignatius. You shouldn’t be delusional about these things…”

“Who are you calling delusional?!” Ignatius cried, sniffling dramatically. “I’m merely holding hope! It’s hope! Okay?! Hope!” He puffed up indignantly. “I just want to evolve like my big brother! Ah, wait—wasn’t he your familiar too, Sylphy? I wonder where he is right now…”

“Yeah, he is,” I nodded softly. “I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to be his master yet, but the bond between us has never faded. I want to see your brother again too, but as a dragon of his caliber, he must have his own duties and responsibilities. I wouldn’t want to disturb him.”

“Hmm, you’re technically a dragon at this point,” Ignatius pointed out. “I wonder if the Red Dragon Family would accept you if you showed up in Dragonoid Form—or maybe you could even take a full Dragon Beast form?”

“I’ve never tried…” I admitted. “I don’t know if I can. Maybe if I pushed really hard, but I don’t really want to…”

“Why not?!” he pressed eagerly. “You’d become so strong! And then you could join my family! And I could rejoin them too!”

“I don’t think it would be that easy, Ignatius,” Alice said calmly. “Anyway, we’re here.”

Before us stretched a vast entrance carved entirely from ice, leading into a deep glacial cavern. Unlike other dungeons with wide, open chambers, this one was literally named the Glacial Caves Dungeon—clearly a network of interconnected caves and tunnels.

The dwarves guarding the entrance let me pass once I identified myself, then sealed the gate behind me to keep anything dangerous from escaping.

“Alright, we’re finally here!” I said, gripping my Living Sword and Living Shield familiars, Sapphire and Scarlet. “Come out, everyone!”

I summoned all my Spirits and Familiars at once so everyone could fight, contribute, and earn EXP together.

Beelzebub, Ignatius, Yggdra, Alice, Brownie, Furoh, Glutton, Violet, Naturia, Red, and Nephilim appeared. Most people would think I’d die from having so many; the usual limit was one to three. But I had… wait, how many was it now? Twelve if I counted Armageddon.

“Oh right—Armageddon Aegis, come out!”

She materialized instantly in her small, compact, adorable form. She glanced around, visibly annoyed by the cold that dampened her heat.

“Why did you summon me out of nowhere? What is this now?” she groaned. “I’ve been busy producing Divine Treasures and new Cultivation Methods…!”

“You have to help out too, newbie!” Ignatius declared smugly. “As your senior, I can show you the ropes, but you’d better obey me, heh!” He puffed out his chest, clearly reveling in his longer tenure with me.

Armageddon didn’t take it well. She glared at him with her large insect eyes blazing with irritation. “Hah?! And who are you supposed to be, you disgusting lizard?”

“D-Disgusting lizard?!” Ignatius exploded. “I am no such thing, you damn… bug!”

“Yeah, I’m a bug—so what?!” she laughed mockingly. “That still doesn’t change the fact you’re a disgusting li—”

“Enough!” I snapped, grabbing her and squeezing gently but firmly. “Don’t fight and don’t insult my familiars! Get along! Understood?!”

“U-Ugh… okay,” she sighed, looking down in annoyance before wriggling free.

Beelzebub immediately flew over, trying his usual flirtatious routine—the one he’d been pulling nonstop lately. I guess bugs really do like bugs, but did he have to be so persistent?

“Oh, it’s you, Armageddon,” he said smoothly. “It’s nice to see you here again… How have you been lately?”

“What do you want?!” Armageddon snapped. “Do I know you?”

“A-Ah?! You know me!” Beelzebub protested, hurt flashing across his face. “We’ve talked like three or four times before! Y-You don’t remember me or something?!”

“I… don’t remember you, no,” she said flatly, shaking her head. “When I return to my Divine Realm, time passes much faster. I forget anything that isn’t important to me.”

“GAH?!”

I could practically hear Beelzebub’s tiny demon heart shatter at her cold, honest words. Living as long as she did, anything unimportant simply vanished from her memory.

“Give up, man. She’s way out of your league,” Furoh sighed, approaching in his Fire Wyvern form—perfect for this icy place. “Can’t you tell? She’s a goddess, and you were… some demon lord or something?”

“I was a respected and powerful figure!” Beelzebub shot back, voice cracking with indignation. “I-I…! Ugh…”

As Furoh tried to console his wounded friend, I glanced at Nephilim. She gazed around the cave with quiet surprise, awe, and the faintest, gentle smile.

“It’s nice to be back with everyone,” she said softly. “Sylphy, I really missed you. Let’s do our best here.”

“Yeah!” I nodded enthusiastically. “Let’s talk more later about what you’ve been through—I’m so curious about you, Nephilim. I’ve also been wondering if you’ve remembered anything from your past?”

“I… I have, kind of,” she sighed. “I do remember many things now, yes…”

“I’m interested too!” Alice said eagerly.

“Yes, I’ve been looking forward to meeting you again, friend,” Yggdra added warmly.

While everyone chatted and Nephilim began to share, we ventured deeper into the caverns. The entrance remained bitterly cold, walls solid ice.

Honestly, it made me wonder if something was truly wrong here. The silence, the chill, the crystalline ice, it all seemed almost peaceful.

Everything looked fine… until the blue ice gradually turned an eerie purple and the air grew thick and noxious.

“Oh, here we are, huh?” Ignatius murmured, floating close beside me.
