Chapter 1836 1836: Bear The Weight On Your Shoulders
—–
How much heavier was that statue for Aquarina?
“The first two were around thirty tons… this one is… at least seventy.”
“What?!”
“H-How are we even…?!”
Justicio and Silvia panicked. This trial was meant to test their endurance and perseverance, but it was becoming ridiculous.
They had really thought that the trial would be something simpler yet challenging, like fighting a high-tired monster, or a group of them.
Or maybe overcome a trap-covered room or solve some difficult riddles.
They thought, “Why not just fight a bunch of monsters instead? Even receiving attacks would be fine!”
However, the trial had set their personalized challenges.
In the end, they had to either leave or face it, no matter how agonizing it could be…
Even if it risked their lives.
“Don’t worry though…”
Aquarina unleashed her Aura, her body growing larger and stronger.
Her Dragon Heart beating faster and faster…
FLUOSH!
She stood up, even as the floor beneath her cracked.
“I can still take this much… If I can punch mountains apart, this is… nothing.”
Aquarina smiled confidently at her friends, but Justicio and Silvia looked worried. This wasn’t the right way to do things, and they knew it.
Yet, they also knew there wasn’t really a “right way” for these trials. They were straightforward and agonizingly difficult.
Only those who defied common sense could claim the true reward at the end…
As Svana once told them, “You have to be a little crazy to attempt the inheritance trial!”
Indeed, only those with a missing screw would attempt such a ridiculous challenge.
But what else could they do now?
It had already begun.”I said don’t worry. Stop looking at me like that,” Aquarina said. “We’ll figure out a way… Pyuku, you’re next.”
“Yeah…” Pyuku fired a large beam of light from his body, destroying one statue.
SPLAT!
His body exploded into pieces, splattering everywhere.
As he had said, he was made of slime, and holding so much weight caused him to burst.
“Pyuku?!”
Everyone panicked, thinking this was the end for him!
However, Aquarina saw his bits slowly reforming into his faint humanoid shape, though he kept collapsing, barely able to move.
“I-I think this is as much as I can handle… I-I’m soooorryyy…”
He spoke oddly as he melted and regenerated constantly, the weight overwhelming him.
Unlike Furoh, Pyuku could mimic other body shapes and slightly transform, even sharing some of their power. However, he couldn’t match Furoh’s ability to completely rewrite and rearrange his biological structure.
If that were possible, he would have mimicked Aquarina to become as tough as her, but it wasn’t.
Only the original members of the True Mimic Demon tribe could go that far, not even Mimic Monsters.
“It’s fine, Pyuku, hang in there…” Aquarina said, guiding him to the exit to remain there, barely alive. “Now… you guys, can you do it again?”
“Yes… leave it to us,” Justicio nodded.
“Sure!” Silvia said.
The two aimed at the statues, attacking with their weapon techniques. Silvia’s powerful Soul Hammer released a shockwave, crumbling a statue. At the same time, Justicio’s axe cleaved another into two halves.
CRASH! CRASH!
As the statues fell, Justicio and Silvia collapsed instantly. The weight of a second statue was immense, and they screamed in pain, feeling their muscles slowly tearing apart.
“Ouch, ouch!” Silvia cried.
“S-Shit, just two is already our limit?!” Justicio asked.
“Heal!”
Aquarina summoned her staff, the [Holy Staff of Thunderous Sunrays], gifted by Sylphy, and used its healing ability, firing rays of sunlight that healed her friends’ bodies from being torn apart.
By combining the staff’s ability with her sunlight beam healing skill, Aquarina sighed, healing herself and Pyuku in the process, keeping everyone in slightly better condition.
“A-Aquarina, thanks…” Silvia sighed. “I’m so sorry!”
“It was… so tough…” Justicio coughed blood.
“It’s fine, you’ve done amazingly,” Aquarina smiled, looking at Undine, Leon, Drakon, and Leviathan.
She knew Undine, Leon, and Drakon would die instantly under a statue’s weight.
They could not handle it.
However…
“RAAARRR!”
Leviathan transformed, revealing his true form, into a gigantic, long sea dragon overflowing with spiritual power, fully materialized with strong muscles and bones.
“Leviathan… you would help too?”
The dragon nodded, slamming his tail into two nearby statues!
CRAAASH!
Both crumbled as Leviathan let out an agonizing yelp.
“GRYAAACK?!”
“Leviathan!”
Aquarina panicked, but the dragon gritted his sharp teeth, blood streaming from his eyes, nose, and mouth, yet he endured…
“H-He can handle two more?” Silvia asked.
“He’s taking our weight…” Justicio shed a small tear. “I’m sorry… I thought I was stronger…”
“It’s fine, you two are already very strong!” Aquarina smiled, eyeing the remaining statues.
She had taken three, Pyuku one, Silvia and Justicio two, and Leviathan two more.
Two statues remained: a smaller one depicting a mighty woman wielding an axe, and the titan holding a crystal, resembling the world itself.
Aquarina knew this would be the heaviest of all.
She guided her friends to the exit, pushing them against the wall, and faced the two statues.
She regulated her breathing as her friends’ eyes widened.
“A-Aquarina, wait, what are you trying to do?!” Justicio asked.
“Y-You can’t handle two more! That would be five…” Silvia said, her eyes filled with despair.
But then…
Aquarina smiled back at them.
“I said we were going to do this together… And I won’t leave anybody behind.”
She drew the weapon Sylphy had recently gifted her, a powerful golden dagger embedded with fiery golden jewels.
This was the [Holy Dagger of Burning Sun]. As she imbued it with Mana, she unleashed a slashing wave.
“Aquarina, wait! We can try this another time!” Silvia said.
“What if you die?!” Justicio asked.
But it was too late. The attack reached the small statue, shattering it into pieces.
B O O O M !
And then…
“…?!”
Aquarina’s eyes widened.
TRUUUM!
As if a titan had descended from the skies, the weight smashed her body into the floor, creating a massive crater.
“Nooo!”
“Aquarina!”
