As Aquarina nodded, the little spirit she created with Agua’s help quickly moved toward Quetzal, who received it with his large, bird-like hands.
“Okay, Quetzal! I-I think I can go like this! You don’t mind, right?” Agua asked through her little spirit body, which had a very adorable voice.
“M-Mind? Of course not, this is… it’s really… cute.” Quetzal’s eyes shone brightly as he saw the “pocket Agua” he had obtained, which he found incredibly adorable.
“C-Cute?” Agua responded with both of her bodies. “A-Ahaha, I guess it’s cute, yes…”
“Alright,” Aquarina said. “As mom said, Agua can’t go, but this spirit double of her should be able to assist Quetzal if he ever gets weird again. He’ll go find his missing ornaments and then come back to us using Agua as his guide.”
“I can do that,” Agua nodded. “It’s a bit confusing but I’m getting used to this quickly…!”
“Alright then! Let’s not waste more time,” Nepheline said. “Quickly! Let’s hurry, we’re almost there.”
“Yes,” Quetzal nodded. “I’ll come back to everyone else once I find all parts. They happen to be scattered around the cliffs, so it shouldn’t be too hard.”
The young, winged man spread his large wings while holding Agua’s spiritual body in his hands. It attached tightly to him by wrapping its tentacle-like hair around his muscular arm.
FLASH!
With a single leap into the air, he rushed into the skies, flapping his wings rapidly as winds gathered around his body, helping him fly as quickly as possible toward his destination.
“And there they go…” Justicio said. “Alright, let’s continue. We can’t waste time, as Aquarina’s mom said.”
“Yep, let’s do this,” Aquarina said. “We’ll be counting on Quetzal’s reinforcements later, so Agua, make sure he doesn’t take too long.”
“I-I’ll do my best!” Agua nodded. “L-Let’s go!”
She was a bit dizzy, nearly tripping on the floor.
Aquarina quickly caught her and fed her some of her Mana and Spirit Energy.
Thanks to Sylphy’s Title, Aquarina’s Mana could now regenerate much faster and in greater quantities over time, giving her more fuel to work with and share with others.
“Phew, thank you Aquarina… You’ve done so much for me! You’re a great friend…” Agua slowly stood up, looking more confident and stronger after being refreshed with more Mana.
“Alright then, Agua,” Aquarina said, patting her hair. “Be careful and stay behind me, understood?”
“Y-Yes…!” Agua nodded, blushing a little. “I’ll make sure to be as useful as I can…!”
“Don’t pressure yourself too much. As long as we can get through the first waves and enter the nest, half the job should be done by then,” Nepheline said. “Let’s go.”
The group rapidly ran through the many roads around the mountains. When they found no natural roads left, they climbed.
They reached the top, facing a volcanic landscape that had grown larger compared to what they remembered.
Above all, several magma falls descended from this area, although they never reached the oasis below, turning into solid stone instead.
“I think we’re here…” Aquarina muttered. “Yep, this is the place. Ah shit.”
“Be careful, don’t speak out loud, Aquarina,” Shade said, touching her shoulder. “Also, try not to swear as much, please. I raised a daughter with better manners, did I not?”
“A-Ah… Sorry dad,” Aquarina nodded, realizing she wasn’t with only her friends this time.
The entire group was covered by an {Abyssal Illusory Veil} Spell created by Shade, making them invisible and completely undetectable to any living being.
They had to be at least Tier 10 to notice them, and that wasn’t happening with this large army of low-tiered giant fire ants.
The area Aquarina and her friends had fled from was now filled with a vast army of surrounding ants.
Most of these giant fire ants had wings, or the vast majority could fly as they pleased, although none had dared to descend into the oasis yet.
They were likely aware of the strength of the great oasis spirit and her people, especially as they wielded the element the ants were weakest against.
However, it was clear they were planning something, as they gathered large forces into a single place, lining them up into separate squadrons led by larger giant fire ants with more wings, harder, heavier armor, and sharper, larger mandibles.
“It looks like there’s roughly… over a hundred thousand of them around here,” Shade said, his eyes squinting. “Right?”
“One hundred? No, this is far above that, perhaps two hundred thousand… yes,” Nepheline said. She had used her {Heart of the Earth} Spell to connect with the surrounding terrain for a split second, learning about the quantity of foes on the ground. “There’s only a few dozen of them flying, so this calculation should be fairly accurate.”
“I see, that’s more problems than I imagined…” Shade nodded, seemingly slightly annoyed. “What should we do…”
“I say we charge ahead and destroy everything,” Nepheline smiled, cracking her knuckles.
“Yeah!” Aquarina nodded.
“I agree!” Silvia said.
“Wait a second, be more careful! We can’t just charge in there. We would lose the entire element of surprise…!” Justicio protested.
“Y-Yeah…” Agua nodded.
“If that were the plan, then standing here glancing at them would be completely pointless…” Shade sighed. “Then again, we can’t simply leave them here while we go inside, or we would risk this huge army invading the oasis below once they learn we’re here.”
“Charging recklessly will only make the ants scatter around too…” Nepheline said, thinking more about this. “We should first trap them inside something and then kill them, so we make sure they won’t escape.”
“There’s also a gate there. The ant nest is open, and more ants keep coming out every few minutes…” Aquarina said, looking into the distance. “I mean, it shouldn’t be impossible for us to infiltrate there with dad’s veil.”
“Yeah…” Shade said. “Now, what should we do…?”
As Shade started thinking, Agua looked down, smiling.
“Quetzal found one of his armor pieces already!” Agua said.
