Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?

Chapter 1701: A New Purpose

Chapter 1701: A New Purpose

After Justicio told the young bird man to calm down and simply accept things as they were for now, and eat something by their side, while also saying he owed him something because of the beak he took from him, the man nodded calmly, closing his eyes.

He found truth in his words, and although his memories might be strangely blurry, the trauma he could recall and everything within it made him feel very depressed. At the very least, however, he knew that there were people here that were waiting for him to stand up and move, to do something more than cry.

And perhaps due to his own teachings, he couldn’t help btu agree with their words, albeit harsh, held great truth within them. He slowly inhaled and then exhaled air, slowly meditating, sitting cross-legged and trying to remain calm, to relax after so long.

He needed to settle down his thoughts, because he knew that if he only fell into the abyss of despair, he would only end up dying, something that would insult his saviors, who went out of their way to help him.

“I’ve lived a life cursed as a beast, and now, I am finally free from it. And yet the horrors I committed as a monster remain within me…”

He looked at his own hands, imagining them being bloodstained, his heart was beating faster the more he remembered the bloodshed, the screams.

He wanted nothing else but to die…

“To live another day is to live in the agony knowing I destroyed everything I loved…”

However, he slowly closed his eyes again, and then his palm, tightly at that.

He had yet to resolve anything within his mind, in fact, it was utterly impossible to do it in just a few minutes.

But he also knew he had to keep moving, wishing to die would simply insult these people that saved him.

Because of his culture, and because of the warrior heart he had, the man wanted to thank them.

Perhaps to make that his new purpose in life.

Anything, he wanted anything to grasp at hope…

Even if it meant living a life serving someone else.

It was better than falling into eternal despair and ending his own life.

He glanced at Agua, as he patted her hand, his smile showed his gratefulness, despite how small and almost unnoticeable it was, Agua could notice.

“But perhaps, life has given me a new purpose… I must repay your kindness, and what you’ve done for me…”

As his large, scaled hands touched Agua’s small hands, the girl felt slightly overwhelmed by a strong and yet strange feeling, something the girl had never felt herself.

“O-Oh… Well, you don’t really need to… I mean…”

Agua blushed as she saw the man slightly smile at him, she had never felt this way over a man before, embarrassed and unable to speak well. In that moment, everyone remained in silence as they glanced at the two of them.

“No, I insist…” The man said. “I need this, I need to… dedicate myself to something, or else… I’m afraid I will only fall into insanity.”

Agua and her friends noticed his hands trembling, he wasn’t very well, and he needed company.

Yeah, perhaps he was a monster just a while ago, but that was a curse, a form that most likely was forced on him.

By what or whom? Well, they will have to discover this as they talk with him.

“I-I…” Agua became nervous. “Aquarina, what do we do?”

“It’s fine, let him do whatever he wants,” said Aquarina with a nod. “He doesn’t seem feral or aggressive anymore… But, ah, as my duty as a hero, I guess I do have to save him and help him. So let’s do that for now. Anything to keep him alive I suppose.”

Aquarina never would have wanted to be chosen as a hero, and perhaps what she said didn’t really apply to the title of a “hero” granted by the gods, their only true purpose was to slay the demon king.

However, there was another concept of a hero she knew about, what her parents were, what Sylphy’s parents were, true heroes that saved those in need, that helped those that needed to be helped.

Why go out of their way to save people they don’t know? To bother strangers?

Her parents would always tell her that it was their responsibility, that with the strength they wield, if they didn’t use it to help others, they would only feel it was pointless.

They needed a greater purpose to their lives with the power they held, because, perhaps just like this man had said, they feared their power might eat away at anything they are and plunge them into insanity.

After all, it has been well known how power can corrupt someone, even when they lived away from society, her parents were always helping and saving people nearby, and even now in this “vacation” they were helping the villagers of this oasis and the people of Everstone.

These things she learned from her parents, she had to employ them and honor them, and what they taught her. Perhaps also it would make Sylphy very happy, and well, aside from all of that, she didn’t like to admit it, but this feeling, this desire to help someone in need, it just came from her heart.

She found the man interesting and genuinely unique, and above all else, she was very intrigued about his past, who he was, what was his curse, and why he did the things he did…

“Come on now, we have to go eat something, I’m starving, let’s go.”

She helped the man slowly stand up, as they made their way back to the cave, the man, who ended being actually an inch taller than Justicio, towered above everyone else, and yet his sorrowful and beautiful eyes and his shy personality made him stand out as someone rather unique.

“Um, are you okay? Nothing hurts, right?”

“Ah, yes… I… I’m fine, thank you.”

As the man gently smiled at Agua, the girl blushed, admiring his height and also his gentle personality.

It was such an endearing combination that she couldn’t stop thinking about it!

“Y-You’re welcome… H-Heheh…”
