Chapter 1613 1613: The Power Of Spirits
—–
“SHYAAAH!”
A huge four-meter-tall spider made of abyssal shadows hissed ferociously, fighting against twelve snail people-like golem statues, each one being Tier 7, infused with powerful spirit crystal cores.
Not only were they physically tough, but also unleashed potent multi-elemental spiritual magic from their staffs, which generated barriers, buffs, and elemental projectiles.
Fireballs, Icicle Spears, Slicing Wind Blades, Sunlight Laser Beams, Shadow Spears, and more constantly bombarded the Spider, one of Shade’s Spirits, Tarantula.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The spider spirit moved swiftly, evading the consecutive explosion attacks and sometimes reflecting them by manifesting shields made of ghostly threads.
It rushed forward once it evaded several explosive projectiles, suddenly merging with one of the statues’ shadows and disappearing.
The statues looked around, still confused about what just had happened… Until out of nowhere…
“Shyeeeh!”
Hundreds of tiny ghostly spiders emerged from the shadows, climbing over the statue and beginning to drain its Mana rapidly.
The statue tried to destroy the spiders with its hands, managing to do it with a few, but it was unable to destroy them completely.
The other eleven golems attacked the one infected, ending up destroying it instead.
BOOOM!
As the golem fell apart into pieces, another golem was filled with spiders, and then a another and another!
These ghostly spiders, baby-like spiders that were roughly thirty centimeters big, were weak, but quick and capable of draining Mana itself.
Golems, beings made of inert stone, were solely powered by Mana to function.
Therefore, once they were drained out of it, they naturally fell down and crumbled apart!
CRAAASH!
One after another, until all twelve golems were gone before any actual battle ever happened…
Tarantula slowly emerged from the shadows, walking towards the golems and checking them.
She stored their valuable cores inside her shadows, and tried to find anything else…
“Shyyeeh!”
She quickly celebrated with a small noise, finding a piece of a silver tablet with her, she quickly wrapped it around her ghostly threads and then stored it, marking it as an important item.
BOOOM!
At the same time, in the room right in front of this one, another battle was ongoing, twelve golems against a reaper-like spirit.
Explosions of magic reverberated everywhere, as the magician golems attempted to destroy their targets with as much power as possible.
However, the Reaper Spirit seemingly looked unaffected, magic simply phased through his body as if he were not even ethereal.
And in that moment, the Spirit swung its scythe, a weapon made of materialized shadows and phantom energy.
SLAAASH! SLAAASH! SLAAASH!
Three powerful slashes were unleashed, generating explosive waves that sliced through several of the golems, making them fall apart in front of him
Then, as the Reaper glanced at its victims, the three surviving golems attacked him from behind, combining their magic to fire a gigantic Sunlight Beam at it.
BOOOM!
“…”
Smoke filled the entire room, as it slowly dissipated, the Reaper emerged, unscathed, and completely unbothered as well.
SLAAASH!
With a swift attack, the Reaper swung his scythe, destroying the golems and making them crumble down into pieces of stone.
CRASH!
“…”
Once done, the Reaper stayed there, glancing at the golems and their materials, retrieving their crystallized cores, and then…
“…!”
The skeleton’s skull jaws opened wide, falling to the floor, as the skeletal claws grasped a silver-colored fragment, a tablet his master was looking for!
Both Spirits stepped out of their room, glancing at one another for a second.
“…”
“…”
The Reaper raised his hand, showing the tablet, perhaps to brag about finding it.
Meanwhile, the spider quickly brought out her own.
“…?!”
The Reaper seemed slightly… shocked.
“…!”
And the spider simply walked away, leaving behind the ghostly skeleton.
…
“This is much deeper than I thought…”
Shade swam through the seawater pool, reaching its depths as quickly as he could. He was able to faintly sense Nepheline not that far away, probably swimming around the bottom.
“It sure is full of animals in here… I mean monsters.”
Although he thought the crabs and fish were beautiful, they were gigantic and definitely not a normal animal at all, but monsters inside a dungeon.
Much like Sylphy’s dungeon, however, this showed how Dungeons could also be beautiful places full of biodiversity that are almost equal on beauty to the outside world.
“Huh? What’s this?”
Once he landed at the bottom, he was surprised, Shade glanced in front of him, finding out the ruins of an ancient civilization.
Too interested to ignore this, he ended swimming around the city, analyzing its infrastructure while also trying to find any vestiges of this civilization.
“Some of these destroyed things are recent, did Nepheline blew them up?”
He found out there were some houses whose ceilings had been destroyed, probably Nepheline had something to do with this.
“Hmm…”
He quickly swam closer to the center of the capital, finding out a huge castle and… there was a door that had been opened forcefully.
“Did she do this?! She didn’t even wait for me…”
Shade felt slightly disappointed, but quickly swam after her.
…
“Stairs huh?”
Meanwhile, Nepheline, who had entered the castle, walked through the large hall inside, entering a second and then a third room.
The castle was filled with statues, paintings, and sculptures into the walls depicting more sea snail people, eventually, she reached a large room with stairs leading underground.
“There’s a third floor at the end… I guess Aquarina never explored this area herself, so she never found out the third-floor entrance was hidden underwater, and several hundreds of meters deep at that. Not everyone could ever get here without being crushed by the pressure alone.”
As she thought that, she quickly moved forward, swimming towards the stairs…
And then, suddenly, finding as she landed on a completely dry place.
SPLASH!
“W-Wha…?!”
She was shocked as she fell to the ground, looking around and then behind her.
“That’s…”
She noticed a membrane of water behind her, right around the entrance to this hall.
It seemed that this place was dry, completely separated from the water on the other side of the castle.
“So there’s a bubble with air in here?”
As she slowly stood back up, she looked around while stretching her arms and legs.
“I guess I should just wait for Shade first… Or-“
BAAAM!
But before she could do anything, a huge golem made of orichalcum dropped from the ceiling.
Out of nowhere.
“Hoh? I guess this wasn’t going to be as boring as I thought!”
