Chapter 1611 1611: Exploring The Depths

After reading the broken tablet and trying to figure out what their contents were trying to say, Shade and Nepheline finally reached the “Boss Room” that Aquarina had pointed out.
“Oh! Look, we’re already here.” Nepheline was in high spirits after having her fun with Shade, so she seemed rather energetic, looking and acting a lot like her daughter.
The two reached the entrance of a large hall, where a massive pool of saltwater was sitting in the middle of this gigantic hall. Around the pool there were colorful corals and also more lobsters, mostly eating from the corals in silence.
“It seems to be the case…” Shade nodded, staying calm and analyzing the large hall they had reached. “It doesn’t seem like there’s anything too important here, I say we should go check out the other side of the floor and maybe find if there’s a third floor now.”
He had quickly analyzed there wasn’t really anything of value, the density of monsters was also too low, and he preferred to leave them alone so they would multiply for later harvests. He was a pragmatic man that always thought several steps ahead, and liked to plan things for the future, hunting the lobsters now would be only detrimental to their population and growth.
Seeing how they were walking treasure troves of materials, with their magical mithril-like metallic exoskeletons, their colorful spiritual crystals growing over their claws and bodies, their delicious meat and nutritional and magical value, and perhaps even their organs being prime materials for elixir and potion making, they were better off left alone to grow and prosper before harvesting more.
Except someone else didn’t think that way, his wife.
“Yeah but after I see what’s at the depths of that pool,” Nepheline nodded, rushing towards the hall with a confident smile. “We should hunt some more of these while we are at it, right? For dinner and for materials for armor and stuff.”
“Wait! Nepheline!” Shade sighed, chasing her. “Is it my idea or is she acting hungrier and more… childish than other times? Perhaps because she’s pregnant. I remember she also had these impulses of recklessness and was always driven by hunger back when she was pregnant with Aquarina.”
Shade recalled the time when Nepheline was pregnant with Aquarian, she sometimes was so tired she slept for a whole day and only woke up to eat, in these moments she would cuddle with Shade and demand to always have him by her side.
And other times, she wouldn’t even care about hugging or something, full of energy, she would jump into the wilderness and hunt a giant Thunder Tyrannosaurus for lunch, she would even skin and roast it herself, eating it while the entire Amazonian tribe glared at her and her incredible appetite eat a whole giant dinosaur on her own.
And for some reason she would go to the sea from the amazonian jungle on her own, running thousands of kilometers and then swimming hundreds of kilometers, catching any fish she liked.
“I suppose she has restrained herself quite a lot compared to back then, but now that we’re alone inside a Dungeon she had begun to just let loose a bit…” Shade smiled lightly. “Well, if she’s happy like this…”
He still was worried, but also loved her, so he would be happy if she was happy. Nonetheless, that she ran towards the lobsters and started punching them away was… not what he was expecting.
“Nepheline, remember that we have to leave some of them alive or you’ll make the entire population go extinct!”
Shade appeared in front of her out of nowhere, emerging as a mass of shadows, he was able to easily teleport into any shadow that his eyes could see.
“A-Ah… My bad.”
Nepheline was quickly stopped, as she realized she had already killed over half of the lobsters, the poor creatures weren’t even the ones to start fighting first, as they were just peacefully eating coral.
“You have to know that these lobsters have a lot of great materials, aside from the food, it would be better if we harvest them over time,” he explained. “Alright?”
“Okay, fine, you’re right,” Nepheline quickly cleansed her hands, as she saw Shade storing the carcasses.
The other lobsters, which were described to be incredibly aggressive by Aquarina, were trembling in horror before Nepheline and Shade’s presences, running away the moment they saw their brethren being killed with a single hit.
They ran away into the pool, of course, swimming into it and then disappearing amidst the waters, Nepheline wanted to follow them though.
“First of all, check every millimeter of this room and try to find if there’s any other tablet left behind,” Shade said, as he commanded one of his strange Spirits.
It resembled a mass of several ghostly arms and legs, which quickly divided into hundreds of small specters, flying everywhere.
“Alright, while you’re at that I’ll go check underwater!”
“Fine, take care. Also use a spell for breathing.”
“I got this covered, don’t worry honey.”
Nepheline winked at him, conjuring a bubble over her head, and then jumping into the water, swimming down as fast as possible.
“Oh, this place’s colorful…”
As she swam underwater, she quickly noticed the pool went down for several hundreds of meters, and its walls were covered with colorful corals.
The deeper she swam, the darker the waters became too. Lobsters, crabs, and various other types of marine monsters were present everywhere but were ignored by her.
“Hmm, is there something interesting around here?”
After her husband’s words, she decided to ignore the small fry, expanding her Mana Aura, trying to look for any treasure for the tablets.
However, she soon reached the bottom.
“So that’s the bottom, huh? It’s just full of corals, wow! A whole coral forest over there.”
She reached the bottom, it was much larger and more expansive than she had imagined, according to her daughter, the boss of this floor was sleeping here, the Queen of these Lobster monsters.
However, she was gone, defeated by her daughter and her friends.
“Hm?”
And now…
“What’s this?”
Something else had taken her place.
