Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 822 - 822: Truly a Deadly Sin

Reality Warping.

A lesser version of Existence Manipulation.

This was the power of the ‘Sin of Pride’. Their ‘Authority’.

But the energy cost of using this great power was just as ridiculous as what it could do.

Magic, Demonic Energy, and the emotional energy of Pride—these were the things Roselia could use to power her Idiosyncrasy, in order of increased efficiency.

Magic power was horribly inefficient, Demonic Energy was so-so, and the emotional energy of Pride was the wonderful option.

But as mentioned earlier, she still needed a lot of it.

The current Roselia was also ‘Limited’ in what she could warp, as she neither had her full power nor was she a higher existence yet.

It was because she realized this ‘Limitation’ in her warping abilities that she created this Bounded Field of hers to amplify her range of power application and increase the potency, making it harder for opponents to realize they were in a fake reality.

Within her Bounded Field, her ‘limitation’ was reduced, and Seraphael, being the big ball of Pride that he was, was kind enough to offer her enough energy to create such a potent reality to fool him, make him use up his power, and let down his guard.

“Seriously, I expected that someone like you would be wiser, but I guess being let down is a given when you expect something from a lesser being.

Your arrogance, your hubris, and your pride… they all empower me.”

Roselia spoke with a sigh, shaking her head with a disappointed expression on her face.

“Vanitas.”

Her sword responded to her call, the red veins on its blade lighting up with ‘joy’ as it entered its Master’s grip. Dark mist emanated from it, and black tendrils stretched out from its grip, wrapping around Roselia’s hands.

“Hold yourself, I’m not back to full power.”

Obeying her command, the dark tendrils of demonic energy retreated into the hilt of the blade. Roselia raised her gaze and flicked her finger, creating an attraction force that pulled Seraphael over to her.

The celestial tried to resist, of course, but four armoured knights stepped forward and bashed him around in the air before returning to continue killing off the CelSols.

Roselia pulled his wounded body over to her, and looking him in his one good eye, she spoke.

“Did you know? Demons in ancient times used to have the ability to see and devour souls at will. However, most demons have lost this ability over the years.”

Shrugging lightly, Roselia infused demonic energy into her blade as she continued.

“Well, I’m not ‘most demons’.”

[?!]

Her sword came down with blinding speed, the blade piercing Seraphael’s head and splitting his body in two from forehead to crotch.

His corpse fell in a shower of blood, and Roselia reached out with her left hand towards the glowing orb of silver light that was his soul.

Suddenly, Vanitas escaped her grip and flew in front of her, blocking her hand from touching the soul of the Fallen Deity.

“…”

The sword knew that the soul of a Celestial with positive celestial energy and light powers was something harmful to a Demon on the negative spectrum like Roselia, so it instinctively tried to protect its master.

The demoness also knew this; hence, she wasn’t annoyed that the Sword moved without being given orders.

Nevertheless, Roselia had her plans, so she pushed the blade away with her right hand and touched the soul with her left.

Merely touching it caused her skin to burn, and her flesh vaporized, leaving just her bones.

Around the soul were four faint films of celestial light, looking like barriers.

If Agnes was here now, her eyes would be wide with shock as the soul of this Fallen Celestial Deity bore similarities to Evan’s True Soul that she saw when she entered his Soul Realm!

They had the same ‘Barriers’ surrounding them, barriers that no other Souls she had ever seen had.

Roselia pierced through the barriers with her phalanges and grabbed the real soul being protected by them before ripping it out and taking a deep breath.

‘Let’s keep this as insurance. Just in case I need to use the Book of Lumière.’

◇ ◇ ◇

Knidyma was gone.

The city pretty much did not exist anymore.

Flames burning everywhere, buildings were in ruins, and corpses sprawled around with blood and gore painting the streets.

Roselia turned her gaze towards the one responsible, the red-eyed man sitting on an inclined half-broken pillar.

His great sword was stabbed into the ground beside it and he had his left leg on the sword’s hilt.

How was he able to take on thousands of other beings, with a good number of the CelSol commanders being Level 500s?

The Power of Wealth.

|Power of Wealth;

Type: Rare Active Skill

Effect;

Deep within the Incarnation of Greed, resides an unquenchable, insatiable greed. One can never have too much power, wealth, or treasures. This skill makes it such that the Incarnation of Greed’s power increases proportionately with the amount of treasure they own. |

The richer he was, the higher the boosts.

And Nadarus was a billionaire.

That was enough of an explanation of how he was able to wreak such havoc.

“Took you long enough.”

He spoke as he spotted Roselia’s form materialize, putting his hand in his pocket and tossing a device towards her.

“Your Bounded Field blocks out connections with the outside world so you didn’t know this but Evan sent out an Emergency Message.

I lost contact with him shortly after so I contacted Leviah and she said Evan told her that the FCDs are aware of our plans.

Leviah said it’s similar to what happened with her and Cheisnih when she fought the ‘Dream Celestial’.

Anyway, she said she was heading to Olake to assist that Hero Princess.

So, what say you? Should we rendezvous as planned or go over to Zanclike and find out what’s up with Ev-!”

Suddenly, Nadarus froze and he looked up, sniffing the air.

‘…blood?’

He smelt blood.

That was expected given that the streets of Knidyma were filled with rivers of the stuff thanks to him.

However, this particular smell of blood that entered his nose was different.

The instant he perceived it, his eyes turned in his sister’s direction and he looked at her with narrowed eyes.

‘She sealed her title again…!’

Roselia who was reading the message on the device he tossed at her suddenly felt Nadarus’ presence come closer.

Just as she looked up, Nadarus grabbed both her arms and pushed her backwards. In an instant, he was slamming her back into a broken wall, pinning her arms over her head and looking down at her as he spoke.

“I’m not really sure, but I do have a feeling you did something. After thinking about it, something that sounds like a very horrible idea came to my mind and I can’t help but ask…”

Nadarus’ eyes glowed red and he asked.

“That Celestial’s soul…where is it?”

“…”

Roselia did not answer.

“You don’t lie, sister. You feel it’s beneath you, so your pride wouldn’t let you do so. Which is why you not answering me immediately is enough for me to confirm my conjecture.”

Roselia narrowed her eyes and tried to free her arms, but Nadarus was supreme when it came to physical strength amongst the Seven Deadly Sins, so even she couldn’t shake him off if he was determined to hold her in place.

This caused her to frown. Without hesitation, she threw her right leg up and on sheer instinct, Nadarus jumped back, inadvertently letting go of her.

Holding his both hands over his crotch, Nadarus looked at her with wide eyes and asked.

“Sister?! Are you trying to kill your chances of becoming an Aunt?!”

Roselia rubbed her wrists, looking at the red marks which were quickly fading as she replied.

“I have three other brothers and 2 sisters. My chances are still very fine.”

Her body then glitched out of view and faster than Nadarus could move away, her foot hit him in the shin and he dropped to his knees.

“OUCH!!”

Roselia ignored his shout as her body rematerialized behind him.

“I didn’t devour his soul. Fallen or not, that’s still a ‘Deity Soul’. I’m not suicidal.”

“…you could have just said that…”

The woman walked away, readjusting her creased shirt as she continued speaking.

“Let’s go. Evan said to reconvene at Naxetus in case of Emergencies.”

“Faulin, there’s something wrong about that Evan Eris boy!”

Illusion Celestial Belphont declared as he entered the room where the Heavenly Celestial stood to overlook the city.

“What?”

“We’ve underestimated him gravely!”

Belphont spoke and Faulin frowned, not understanding where the other man was coming from.

“Underestimated him? How?

We prepared for his interference.

Mortis’ undead are blocking the Holy Knights and Paladins, as well as the Tarse Soldiers.

We shuffled our positions to render his information on our locations useless and the ones he sent to deal with us couldn’t do anything since they wouldn’t be facing those they were well-matched against.

With that sword, Glazard might just kill that Hero Princess and the other Deadly Sin Demon he had snooping around.

This would delay him long enough and if we’re lucky, some might even die.

You successfully got Causality to take Kaylatheurge out of the equation, and if he still manages to come here, we’d be at the final stage of the Ritual.

So why do you say we underestimated him?”

Faulin’s words revealed that right from the start, Belphont’s target in Zanclike had always been Kayla! His goal was to remove Kayla from the equation, and he never had any designs on Evan at all.

“I think Evan Eris might be Prisma!”

“…”

Belphont stated this with confidence and hearing his words, Faulin blinked at him repeatedly. The emerald-eyed man poked his finger into his ears to make sure something wasn’t blocking them before looking at Belphont and asking.

“Have you finally lost it? Prisma is dead. You all do not know, but all Race Kings were aware of this.

Prisma didn’t disappear, he died.

We sensed his ‘Race Ruler’ Authority return to the Universe at the end of the War.”

“Faulin, I understand why you may think so. But his flames!”

“We know he does use esoteric odd-coloured flames—this isn’t new information. But he’s not going to be the first user of esoteric flames that aren’t red.”

Belphont shook his head and held out his hands to stop Faulin before speaking.

“Something happened when Kaylatheurge regained her power, there’s some sort of recognition inhibition cast on us.

Evan Eris’ flames are not ‘odd-coloured’, they’re prism-!!!”

“!!!”

Belphont couldn’t continue his statement as both he and Faulin were suddenly hit by a sudden sensation of loss.

“This…Seraphael!!”
