Chapter 1108 - 1108: “World Quest” Completed
Evan managed to recover some of his energy using magic potions, but eventually the exhaustion of his soul power caught up to him, forcing him to pause and sit on the ground to… relax his soul?
He’d long since lost the Archivist’s Geass skill, and Charisse’s body was no longer being controlled by ‘Taemia.’
Yet when Evan raised his hand to use certain Techniques, he discovered that before the activations could even fail due to a lack of energy, the activation sequence didn’t start at all.
The Techniques in question were those created by ‘Prisma’ Evan, combining all his flames to form his strongest techniques throughout the various stages of his progression to becoming the powerful Race King he’d been before reincarnation.
There were 7 Techniques in total, and for the next 365 days, Evan couldn’t use Techniques Number 1 through 5, not even in a limited form.
‘Currently, I’ve only got LUNAR FLAME and WORLD FLAME…’
Just as the thought crossed his mind, a massive shadow suddenly fell over him, and his Danger Sense blared an alarm, prompting him to look up and witness a shocking sight.
“What the?! Is that a Wolf of the END?!”
Landing with immense force not far from him was a giant wolf, its fur matted with blood and fragments of broken dragon scales hanging from its sharp fangs.
Standing at five meters tall, the wolf resembled a miniature version of the one Evan recognised from Aidos Online.
Evan wasn’t the only one taken aback. Beatrix and the nearby spirits were equally stunned at the sudden sight.
Just as Evan’s shocked voice echoed, a familiar voice called from atop the wolf.
“You know this guy?”
“Wait, Arthur?!” Beatrix shouted. At that moment, the wolf’s tail pulled something off its back, dropping it right in front of them.
That something was Arthur’s body. Content originally comes from novel(ꜰ)ire.net
Still eyeing the wolf, Evan responded to Arthur’s earlier question.
“I know another bastard who looks just like this guy…”
The wolf, spotting Evan, tilted its head and circled him, sniffing before turning toward Arthur with a questioning gaze.
“No. He’s a friendly dragon,” Arthur suddenly said.
“!”
Evan immediately pushed himself off the ground, putting nearly a dozen meters of distance between himself and the wolf, realising what it had likely been asking Arthur.
Arthur burst into laughter at the sight, while the wolf, seemingly confused by Evan’s reaction, tilted its head as if it hadn’t just asked whether it was okay to eat Evan the same way it had the dragon whose blood still coated its fangs.
Suddenly, the space around the wolf began to ripple. Noticing this, it lifted its head toward Arthur and transferred some of its magic power to the exhausted godslayer.
“Why, thank you,” Arthur said, patting its nose.
The wolf said nothing, only nodding its large head before turning into a streak of light that shot up into the sky and out of the planet.
Watching it vanish, Arthur spoke.
“And thank you for confirming my conjecture, Infernal Devil King.”
‘Huh? Infernal Devil King?’
Evan’s eyes widened at the mention of the title, and a sudden thought crossed his mind regarding the presence of the Wolf of the END on future Aidos.
‘What if…?’
His speculation was cut short when Arthur turned from the sky and addressed him.
“965. You?”
“815,” Evan replied.
Arthur shrugged at the response.
“Better than nothing.”
“Far better.”
With that, the two boys fist-bumped after confirming their levels, while Beatrix watched in disbelief.
“How the hell did you guys understand yourselves…?”
Evan and Arthur exchanged glances, then looked at her and spoke one after the other.
“Because Trigger.”
“That makes sense.”
“NO IT DOESN’T!!!” Beatrix immediately retorted, yelling at the top of her lungs.
The others nearby gave her odd looks, while Arthur and Evan just laughed.
“Still, I thought the Author was gonna troll me with another Level Wall or something,” Evan muttered.
Catching that, Arthur raised a brow and replied, “Seems you didn’t see the original chapter drafts. You got trolled with Level 799 and 99/100 EXP.”
Evan’s jaw dropped, visible even through his mask, which made Arthur notice it was still intact and sparked his curiosity.
“Is that thing an artifact or something? How did it survive all the fighting?”
Evan shook his head in response.
“Nahh. It’s just a regular mask I infused with magic power to increase its durability. It looks brand new because I had Beatrix rewind its time.”
Looking up at the burning Triffid, he continued, “If my guess is correct, then I’m gonna need this mask to be on until we leave the Infernal Dimension.
Can’t have some certain bastards seeing me unmasked.”
He then got to his feet, offering no further explanation about his words. It was almost time for the mask to serve the purpose he’d been wearing it for all these months, after all.
Just then, Arthur called out to him. “Dude. So, when I summoned that Wolf, I noticed something that caught my attention.
After finishing my fight with that devil, I was finally able to notice another thing that I should have noticed way earlier.”
Holding out his hand and grasping empty air, Arthur began explaining the workings of his spatial perception.
Arthur explained that when a being enters the spatial perception of a Law of Space practitioner, they initially appear as a blank spot. Depending on the practitioner’s skill, they can discern details about the being or area, but perception can be overwhelmed and fail if the being is within the range of a presence with an even stronger spatial presence.
In such cases, a weaker practitioner would feel that their perception is failing since it isn’t broad enough to process this spatial presence, but advanced practitioners with Pseudo-Authorities understand that it’s the overwhelming presence that hides the target, not a flaw in their perception.
Arthur’s sudden explanation drew confused looks from Evan, Beatrix, and even Artemisia, who had walked over to join them.
Noticing their expressions, Arthur smiled slightly, his gaze shifting to Charisse, who was tending to the wounds of an Elder Spirit in the distance.
“So, why the sudden lecture? Simple. From the moment I gained my new Pseudo-Authority in space, my spatial perception’s been acting… glitchy.
And after fighting Vonun and finally giving it some thought, I realised why: there’s someone nearby with a spatial presence that completely eclipses mine.”
At that, Evan’s eyes narrowed as he grasped the implications.
“Now, don’t we know a certain bastard with that kind of spatial presence? Someone who also uses cosmic energy—the same thing my perception is composed of.
Someone with enough cosmic energy to, say… easily blow up a spaceship, and make sure everyone caught in the blast ‘miraculously’ survives.”
As Arthur spoke, Evan’s brows furrowed, and with each word, the realisation became clearer.
“Hey, Evan, us ending up in this dimension—it wasn’t a coincidence.”
The moment he spoke, a series of notifications appeared in their field of vision, not only for them but for every existence on the planet that had been brought here following the Cosmic Singularity explosion.
[World Quest: “Defeat the ‘Tree of Creation; Triffid’!” complete.]
[World Quest: “Stop the corruption of the ‘Tree of Creation; Triffid’!” complete.]
[World Quest: “Defeat the Infernal Archdevil Commander; Vonun’!” complete.]
[World Quest: “Stop the plot of Black Dragon; Murobis!” complete.]
[World Quest: “Secure Victory for the Natives of Iohodis!” complete.]
The reactions to the notifications varied. Some were confused, some shocked, and some slowly realised the truth.
Then the sky tore open. The planet’s barrier, the one preventing Deity Realm existences from entering, shattered.
Beams of light descended, stopping a few hundred meters above the ground, each taking shape.
Leading the group appearing in the sky was a silver-haired man in a suit whose face Arthur and Evan knew all too well.
Seeing him grin down at them, Arthur and Evan cursed in unison.
“”You fucking bastard.””
Jamie’s laughter erupted, his True Voice echoing across the land, drawing every eye toward him and momentarily shifting the tension in the air.
With the burning Tree of Creation blazing in the background, the silver-haired man’s blue eyes glowed as he spread his arms and declared,
|And with that, the ‘Special Secret Realm Exploration’ comes to a flaming end! |
Just as Jamie’s words echoed through the air, two sonic booms tore the silence apart. Arthur and Evan shot upward, reaching Jamie in the blink of an eye.
Without hesitation, their swords materialised in their hands, and both stabbed at his head with lethal intent, so fierce that every Sect Master and Elder involved in the scheme felt a jolt of shock.
Never had they witnessed two mortals strike at a Race King with such pure killing intent.
Jamie laughed, drawing his Galaxy Sword, its dark blade shimmering with the image of a night sky, effortlessly intercepting both attacks and blocking their strikes mid-air.
“Let me stab you just once—just one stab in the fucking head,” Arthur’s voice dripped with frustration, and Evan chimed in immediately.
“You’re immortal, right?! You’ll grow your head back, won’t you? Just let me get one in!”
Jamie only chuckled, his eyes filled with amusement.
“Come on, kids, wasn’t it a fun nine weeks?”
“Fun?! What the fuck do you mean, fun? You tried to kill us. You blew up the spaceship with us in it!” Evan shot back furiously, and Arthur followed up,
“And you used a cosmic singularity to do it. Do you know how close we were to being the first meals of a newborn singularity?!”
Jamie smirked, shrugging with feigned innocence.
“In my defence, it wouldn’t have escalated to a cosmic singularity if you two didn’t try to get involved.”
He then muttered under his breath, just loud enough for them to hear.
“Which is why I told the staff to give you games and keep you entertained, keep you away from the bridge…”
Arthur and Evan’s eyes widened as the realisation dawned. Now, it made sense why the spaceship staff had been so hospitable!
Jamie had orchestrated everything, ensuring Arthur remained distracted and unaware of the true plan.
What they hadn’t expected was that Arthur carried a copy of the old map, and he noticed the course veering off track, investigating and discovering the singularity ahead of time.
This forced Jamie to detonate the singularity prematurely, since Arthur intended to use a Cosmic Artifact to protect himself, Evan, Artemisia, and Beatrix from the blast.
The realisation only deepened the two boys’ anger. They pulled back their blades, gathering destructive energy, and stabbed at Jamie again, determined to make him pay for every manipulated second of those nine weeks.
Sadly, there was no breaking through Jamie’s defences. Their furious strikes met only air and metal, effortlessly deflected as Jamie parried each blow.
With a flick of his sword, he sent Arthur and Evan tumbling back to the ground, both landing with frustrated huffs, unable to release their anger.
“Damn it, you’ll pay for this!”
“One of these days, I’m cutting that head off, at least once!”
They shouted their threats with the fervour of B-movie third-rate villains, and Jamie merely laughed, sheathing his Galaxy Sword. Turning to the stunned onlookers, he addressed the crowd.
“Alright, I’m sure you all have questions, but explaining everything would be a hassle. So I’d skip the lecture and just force it all straight into your minds.”
With a clap of his hands, he transmitted the entire truth, revealing that the spaceship’s explosion had been no accident and that the past Nine Weeks had been the ‘Special Secret Realm Exploration’ they’d been told about.
The entire operation had been a coordinated plan between Jamie, the Higher-ups of various Cultivation Sects, and the Infernal Devil King of Absolute Death.
The collective shock of the crowd, from the weakest spirit foot soldier to the Elders and Cultivators, rippled across the continent like a visible wave, their faces betraying sheer disbelief.
Jamie chuckled at their expressions, thoroughly entertained, while Sect Master Chang simply heaved a resigned sigh at Jamie’s obvious amusement.
