Reincarnated As The Villainess's Son
Chapter 605: [The Journey of Sun] [19] [Representation]
[Isis’ POV]
The temple of Isis was much quieter than on usual days.
The death of the King who represented the joy of Isis was no more, and the lack of happiness in the temple indicated it.
Usually, the temple would be filled with prayers, offerings, and the voices of people seeking blessings from their Goddess.
....Today, there was barely any sound.
Isis sat at the highest point of the temple, staring at the statue of Osiris standing in front of her.
His expression was the same as always, the kind and gentle look on his face made her heart bleed.
Her hands slowly tightened around the edge of her throne.
’...Why?’
She had asked herself that question countless times since his death.
Why did Amun-Ra kill him and take away the one person who had stayed beside her for thousands of years?
’...Why did he make me choose?’
Isis still remembered the words that left his mouth.
"Become an Outer Goddess and bring him back."
At first, she thought it was simply another attempt to manipulate her, but after thinking about it for some time, I realized something.
Amun-Ra wasn’t asking her to become an Outer Goddess because he wanted to grant her a chance to bring back her love.
He simply needed her to complete the eighth pillar.
Despite the anger and hatred, Isis could still think and dissect his plans.
She knew what he wanted and how he would achieve it.
...Yet, even after knowing all that, Isis was still determined to complete the eighth pillar.
Her dedication to bringing Osiris back had already overwritten her cautious behaviour.
She stood up from her throne and walked toward the statue.
One of the priests noticed her approaching and immediately lowered his head.
"My Goddess."
Isis ignored him.
Her fingers touched the cold stone of Osiris’s statue.
For thousands of years, she had watched him stand beside her.
He had always been there whenever she needed him.
Even when the other Gods feared Amun-Ra, Osiris never abandoned her, and now...He was gone.
"How could you..." Her voice was barely audible. "... How could you just leave me alone?"
She felt like she had aged thousands of years without his presence.
"Osiris..." Her voice came out quieter than I expected.
A faint presence suddenly approached the temple, drawing her attention away from the statue.
She spread her divine sense and immediately recognized several familiar auras.
"They are here."
The doors of the temple opened, and several Gods entered the hall before lowering their heads toward her.
"Lady Isis."
She looked at them for a moment before returning to her throne. "Come closer."
The Gods followed her command and gathered before her.
Some of them looked angry while others were clearly uncertain about what they were about to hear.
She couldn’t blame them for their hesitation.
Amun-Ra had ruled over the Gods for thousands of years, and openly standing against him wasn’t something anyone would do without a reason.
"I do not need your sympathy or condolences," she said in a deep, cold voice.
"All I need you to know is Amun-Ra has killed my husband, and there is no saying you won’t be his next target."
One of the gods raised his hand, who had an odd appearance.
He was a God with the body of a man and the head of a crocodile. He held two semicircle weapons in both his hands.
Sobek, the God of the River Nile, asked.
"What exactly does he want?" His face had a strange look. "There would definitely be a reason for him to kill the kindest God?"
"The eight pillars."
The moment she mentioned them, the atmosphere inside the temple changed.
Most of the Gods already knew about the pillars, but even they didn’t fully understand why Amun-Ra had spent so much time preparing them.
"Amun-Ra intends to become an Outer God."
Several Gods exchanged uneasy glances, most of them were aware of a higher power than just God.
But they also knew it was impossible to reach because the universe itself rejected those said gods.
Isis continued before they could even ask more. "He is willing to sacrifice anyone necessary to accomplish that goal. Osiris was simply the first person he was willing to sacrifice."
She could feel her anger rising again, but she forced herself to remain calm.
"If we allow him to complete his plan, we have no idea what he will do afterward. The balance that has existed between the Gods for thousands of years could disappear completely."
Anbious stepped forward and looked at her with concern. "Lady Isis, even if what you say is true, what can we actually do against Amun-Ra?"
"Fight him." Her words made the entire place silent. "I know exactly how powerful he is. I also know that none of us can defeat him alone, but that doesn’t mean we should simply allow him to do whatever he wants."
The place grew silent, and all of those who were present stood with an uncomfortable expression.
Finally, one of the gods, a much older one, spoke out. "What you are saying is good to hear but impractical."
His words made everyone turn towards him. "Have you all forgotten what he did with all of his three daughters?"
The uncomfortable silence only grew louder after his words.
It was common knowledge about what happened to those three daughters who rebelled against their father.
Not only were they brutally beaten, but they were also punished with their entire selves reduced to childish minds.
They were left with nothing but a power source for the God of Sun.
Isis spoke again, fearing that the morale would plummet before they even fought.
"I will be the guarantor." She spoke with a calm and confident voice. "I will make sure none of you will die."
That was a blatant lie that she spoke, Isis had no way of stopping Amun-Ra from massacring everyone here.
Still, that doesn’t stop her from manipulating them to fight him.
In the end, her only goal was to bring her husband back, she only cared for these gods as much as Amun-Ra did.
Sobek, the God of the River Nile, asked again.
"And how are you going to do it?" He had a sarcastic tone in his voice. "Are you going to poison him and make him your slave?"
Isis remained silent for a long minute, she just kept on staring at them.
Finally, she spoke with utmost confidence. "I have a way to separate Amun from Ra."
The moment those words left her mouth, the entire temple became silent.
Even Sobek’s sarcastic expression disappeared as he stared at her. "What?"
Isis didn’t repeat herself.
She simply looked at every God standing before her, watching their expressions slowly change from doubt to curiosity.
Anbious was the first one to speak. "Lady Isis, what exactly do you mean by that?"
"It means exactly what I said."
She walked away from her throne and stood before them.
"Amun-Ra’s greatest advantage is that we cannot fight him as he currently exists. His power, his Authority, and his divine nature have become too deeply connected."
Isis paused for a moment. "But that doesn’t mean they cannot be separated."
Sobek narrowed his eyes. "You are saying you can separate Amun from Ra?"
"Yes."
"How?"
Isis remained silent. She knew that she couldn’t reveal everything because she herself wasn’t completely certain about the method.
Before most of the new Gods were even born, there were two divine beings ruling them.
Amun and Ra were two divine aspects that had been brought together and eventually became something far greater than either of them had been individually.
It has been so long that the distinction between them had almost disappeared, and people don’t even remember them as separate beings.
"I cannot explain the entire method yet."
Sobek immediately frowned. "So you expect us to fight the strongest God in existence while refusing to tell us how you plan to defeat him?"
"I expect you to trust me," Isis said with an honest look on her face.
"That’s a lot to ask after you just admitted you cannot explain it."
"I understand why you doubt me." Isis looked toward Osiris’s statue. "But I have no reason to lie.Osiris is dead, and I have nothing left to protect."
There was a long silence between the Gods who were glancing at each other.
Most of them were still conflicted, but many were leaning to her side.
Anbious lowered his head slightly. "What do you need from us?"
Isis looked at him.
"Time." She said without hesitation. "I want you all to kill all the mortals that worship him."
"That’s almost fifty percent of the world." One of the Gods said. "Such a heinous genocide all for what?"
"Faith." She said without missing a beat. "This world is connected to his inner world...his domain, disturbing it would give me more chance to start my plan."
Her voice slowly became colder.
"His death would be inevitable once we separate the two beings."
