Chapter 157: Nightmare Flower[2]
Chapter 157: Nightmare Flower[2]
Kyle pushed the worn door open, the annoying creaking sound breaking the silence of the night.
Inside was nothing but a narrow space resembling a room… but it was clean.
He entered their hiding place that no one knew existed while clutching the small bag in his hand.
His body was tired and his muscles burned with pain, while sleep tempted him and nausea clung to him because of the constant hunger.
He closed the door behind him, while his eyes stopped on a little girl lying on a bed in the corner.
Her eyes were closed and her breathing was unstable, while a painful expression was on her tired and thin face.
It was little Mia, who had recently discovered her illness and was struggling to endure the pain, even after the orphanage abandoned her because of the treatment costs.
But Kyle did not… he did not and would not abandon his sister.
He reached her, placing his hand on her and shaking her a little, while some tears gathered in his eyes.
It was true that Mia was the one in pain, but this was painful for Kyle too… painful to the point that he could not bear it.
“Mia… I brought the medicine.” His voice, still carrying a trace of childhood, was shaky, and the pain was clear in his tone.
Soon her body trembled as she opened her eyes to see her surroundings.
Amid the suffering, the little girl smiled, welcoming her older brother.
“Brother… you are here.”
Kyle nodded while showing her the bag.
“Yes Mia, I brought the medicine.”
Without hesitation, Kyle opened the bag, pulling out its contents, which were small vials inside a box.
He held one toward his sister.
“Come on Mia, let me help you drink this.”
The girl tried to get up, but the pain was too much, so Kyle reached out his hand, placing it behind her small and fragile back, before lifting her upper body slightly.
This simple action caused her a great deal of suffering… and him as well.
He bit his lips while removing the cap of the vial with his other hand, before bringing it close to the little girl’s mouth, which opened without hesitation.
The contents flowed into her throat, while Kyle struggled to smile as he asked.
“How do you feel now?”
Mia smiled as she opened her mouth, but the moment she did, she froze.
She froze, and her eyes opened wide while veins appeared on her skin… and that was only the beginning.
Screams…
A painful and distorted scream filled the small room and broke the silence of the night.
It came only from the mouth of the little girl in Kyle’s arms, while he froze in place.
It took him a moment to understand what was happening, and his loud voice echoed through the room.
“Mia… what the hell is happening?”
But his voice faded beneath her screams.
With tears gathering at the corners of the twelve-year-old child’s eyes, he carried his sister and ran toward the door.
’The hospital… the hospital… yes, if I take her there, they will be able to…’
But even before he could reach it, the screaming stopped and silence spread, while he felt her body become heavier.
He looked between his hands to find the little girl already dead.
’No…’
There was no breathing and no pulse.
Slowly, his knees lost the strength to hold him and hit the ground, while little Mia’s hands fell downward lifelessly.
All he felt in that moment was pain… indescribable pain and despair tearing his heart apart.
A child who had lost everything… his only family in this world.
Tears fell without stopping, while a distorted scream echoed again, but this time from Kyle himself.
Outside, the leaves of the beautiful flower trembled as it opened more, at the same time the world shattered again and was rebuilt.
While Kyle found himself in another place… unaware of what had happened before.
At a different age and in a different state, built on his real memories and the life he had lived and experienced.
But one part he had not experienced… that ending.
Something he never remembered because it had never happened.
His sister’s dead body inside the house with a large wound on her chest.
It was like a nightmare for the now fifteen-year-old Kyle.
And because it was.
Once again the world shattered and changed around him, announcing the beginning of a new cycle of nightmares.
Every cycle began with a burst of happiness before ending with a worse ending than the one before.
The third time, he found his sister dead in the dilapidated apartment while he was fifteen.
The fifth time, she died before his eyes at the hands of one of the criminals.
The tenth time, the little girl was tortured in front of him.
With every cycle, the scenarios changed more and more until they became things Kyle had never seen before.
But every time there was one thing the same, a beautiful blue flower…
And every time it became brighter and its petals opened more, feeding on Kyle’s despair, who was unaware of what was happening around him.
…
In a luxurious corridor inside a beautiful palace, a girl of eight or seven years old walked wearing a beautiful red and black dress, her red hair falling down her small back, while her orange eyes stared at the distance ahead.
“Hmmm… hmmm… hmmm.”
She walked while humming a happy tune until she reached a double door.
With a push from her small hand, she entered, a smile drawn on her lovely face.
Inside was a spacious living room with tall windows allowing sunlight and fresh air in, while the curtains around it swayed gently with the breeze slipping inside.
Paintings decorated the high walls, and vases were placed in every corner in perfect order.
But little Izel did not look at any of that.
Instead, she looked at the person sitting on the sofa before her, while fiery red hair flowed over her dress… just like Izel.
The woman was sewing something using blue threads before she raised her head and looked at Izel, who had just entered and was heading toward her quickly.
She tilted her head slightly and her red hair fell to the side, while her warm and beautiful voice filled the place.
“So it is you, my dear… have you already finished your lessons?”
Izel reached her mother before jumping into her lap without hesitation like a small ball, but before she could hit her, the woman put down the sewing needles, catching her daughter in the air before it struck her stomach.
With her hands under her arms, Claire carried the small and beautiful Izel before seating her on the sofa beside her, her voice echoing in her ears.
“How many times have I told you not to jump on me like that?”
Izel stuck out her little tongue and put an apologetic smile on her face.
“Sorry, Mom… I forgot.”
With that, Izel’s eyes were drawn to her mother’s slightly swollen stomach.
A sign that a little brother was on the way to life.
Izel, who was a kind and cheerful girl at that time, was very happy about this.
Happy because she was going to become the older sister, and because she would have a cute little brother.
Her mother raised her hand and placed it on her head, stroking her red hair.
“Do not do that again, understood?”
She nodded while biting her tongue in a childish way.
“Yes.”
With that, she showed her white teeth in a big smile as she asked,
“So Mom, what shall we name my brother?”
Claire smiled while lowering her hand to Izel’s cheek and pulling it like a piece of soft dough.
“What do you think, you little troublemaker…”
Before the smiling Izel could answer, someone appeared in the room, walking toward them.
With light brown hair and blue eyes, Izel’s father arrived in the room in an instant without her noticing.
He approached them with calm steps and a small smile on his lips, while his calm voice slipped into their ears.
“Are you discussing the name again without me… you two cold-hearted people.”
Izel jumped from the sofa and ran toward him with both hands spread wide.
“Dad, you are back.”
He bent slightly before catching her and lifting her up beside him.
“Did you miss me, little one?”
Without realizing it, he held her with one hand before grabbing her chubby cheek and pulling it a little. As a result, Izel let out a painful groan as she complained.
“That hurts, Dad.”
With some effort, he managed to let go of her cheek before looking at his wife seated on the sofa.
He did not say anything, but his eyes said everything.
Especially his gaze toward her swollen stomach.
For little Izel, those times were the most beautiful part of her life.
Before things took a bad turn.
