Reincarnated as an Energy with a System

Chapter 1875: Various Heroes

Ning watched the men and women stare at him as if they were looking at an idiot. How else would one explain it?

“It sounds completely lunatic from the outside, I know, but do believe me when I say I thought things through before I made the choice.”

The others had no more words to say.

A pair of footsteps approached the group, and a woman greeted them all. Ning turned in time to see the blonde woman turn to look at him as well. Her eyebrows raised more than normal.

“My! I didn’t expect to meet my new colleague so soon,” the woman said, putting out her hands for a shake.

Ning put on a smile. “Greetings, I’m Blackfang.”

He firmly grasped her hand, giving her a good shake.

“Emily Brossin. Or you can call me Power Fist.” She looked down at their hands. “Oh wow! That’s a strong grip you got there. If not for the wards, I would’ve loved to see which one of us is stronger.”

Ning chuckled. “I would rather not test my physical strength with a handshake against someone who is literally named Power Fist.”

“Oh, humble too. I’m impressed,” she said with a laugh. They talked for some time before she proposed to take him around to introduce him to other heroes.

Ning nodded. “I would appreciate it.”

Emily took Ning away from the group of presidents and slowly walked around the party. “I caught a bit of your press conference. I can’t say how envious I am to meet someone that is Rank 9.”

“Is that so?” Ning asked. “If you don’t mind, could I ask what your rank was?”

Power Fist sagged a little. “Rank 5.”

“5? Really?” Ning couldn’t help but be surprised.

“Don’t tell me you think less of me now since you know my rank.”

Ning shook his head. “Quite the opposite actually. I know of a few heroes that have a higher rank power than you and yet are lower in the hero ranking.”

“Well, that makes sense. The hero ranking is based on what you do with your power and how the people perceive it. It’s a glorified popularity contest in a way.”

“And I commend you on being more popular than the others.”

Emily smiled.

“Oh right, I saw you destroying the meteor a few weeks ago. That was well done.” All those days ago, when Ning first came to Hyrron, she had been the one to take care of the stone statue he left behind.

She smiled. “It was tiny anyway. We found out afterward that even if we had left it be, it wouldn’t have done any more damage than maybe a few broken windows.”

“But you took the initiative, and that’s all that matters, don’t you think? Sometimes, trying is enough to let people know that you care.”

Emily beamed. “Come, let me introduce you to a few others.”

Ning met a few more heroes after that.

Headshot, Hero Rank 7, was a rare hobgoblin that mostly used guns with extraordinary accuracy. His accuracy was what made him a hero, allowing him to hit anything he targeted.

Shockstar, Hero Rank 5, was a lizardfolk with electric powers. He could even fly using his powers.

There was also Pusher, Senior Soar, and other heroes that he met.

He tried to mingle with them, made some small talk, swapped some surface-level pleasantries. He did leave them quite soon, however, taken to people to meet.

Emily couldn’t find Bloodborn, the hero that was ranked 4. And according to her, Lightspeed, the hero ranked 2nd, never showed his face around in these sorts of places at all. The ghoul apparently did not like places such as these with suppression fields and almost never showed up to these parties.

Emily searched around for a while before noticing a secluded group of people to the side.

“Oh, there they are. I knew I would find her if I searched for Vanisher.”

Ning turned to the group, searching for the Minotaur. The bull-horned man stood proudly in the group, and his surrounding immediately caught Ning’s eyes.

Next to him was the woman in the blue designer dress, the highest-ranked hero of this city. Frostveil.

But she wasn’t the one that caught Ning’s attention. Next to them was the person he had come here for.

Forgath stood out because he was the only Imp in the room.

Forgath was tall and lean, with two short black horns jutting out of his forehead, dressed in an expensive suit that fit him perfectly. There was no sign of his wings, but it was likely tucked away into his suit. His red skin looked natural under the purple light that covered him at that moment.

Ning walked over, weaving through the crowd, Emily following behind him.

The Imp noticed him approaching at the last moment and looked up, surprise flickering across his face. Still, he did not do anything else.

“If it isn’t sir Blackfang. What a pleasure to make your acquaintance on this grand day.”

Ning smiled. “The pleasure is all mine.”

Forgath gestured to the group around him. “Let me introduce you. This is Gerald Homs, CEO of Homs Industries. Marion Threll, founder of The East Wind Enterprises. And I’m sure you recognize your fellow heroes.”

The two billionaires nodded in greeting.

Vanisher looked excited for a man that big, stepping forward to shake Ning’s hand. “I’ve been wanting to meet you for quite some time. That press conference of yours was quite a shock for our poor selves. I really thought I would have to wait for quite a time before we met.”

Ning found himself growing fond of the humanoid bull’s enthusiasm. He turned toward Frostveil and gave a slight nod. “Greetings.”

Frostveil stood still, the blue veil covering enough that one couldn’t even see her features at all. Her words came out cold.

“Congratulations on your debut.”

There was nothing more that she had to say. Ning turned and looked toward Forgath.

“So, sir Forgath. When did you come to this city?”
