Reincarnated as an Energy with a System

Chapter 1800: Empress of the Golden Continent

Chapter 1800: Empress of the Golden Continent

<You have received 198.24 Septillion Energy>

As the soul in Ning’s hand disappeared, he received a notification.

“Holy… that’s almost as much energy as killing a constellation,” Ning said in surprise. “Do souls really have that much energy?”

“Well, I should find some more souls to absorb then,” Ning said. “I still gotta kill a Galactic Will soon enough.”

Shara looked at Ning’s hands, shocked at the suddenly vanished soul. “Where… where did he go?” she asked.

“He’s dead,” Ning said, turning around toward Shara. “You don’t have to worry about hearing any voices now.”

Shara’s eyes widened slightly. “How… did you do it?” she asked.

Ning smiled. “Easily.”

Ning let Shara return to Matthew and explain the situation. The two decided then to let the others know what had happened. Hearing that the soul of the emperor was still alive until now shocked them a little.

But Shara made it clear that he was gone now.

Ning let Shara deal with her issues for a while, taking the time to go through the soldiers again and see how they were doing. He met with Mari as well, now finding out that she had started dating Matthew.

They were in fact planning a wedding already. Everyone important knew already. The marriage was in 2 months.

Ning stayed around the palace for that time, helping everyone. Now that his System was back, he could easily do things that he would have had to struggle with previously.

Shara was happy to see him back.

Mari and Matthew’s wedding came not long after, and Ning gave them a gift—the two their own small pendants to keep around their neck. He didn’t explain what the necklace was, but told them to keep it around their neck at all times.

Shara came by their wedding too, but she couldn’t stay for long. She had to leave as soon as the ceremony was over. Such was the life of the Empress.

Ning stayed around for the feast and left only after the married couple had left.

Shara visited Ning that night, wanting to talk about her own marriage.

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,” she said. “I can’t marry just anybody, but I also don’t want to marry someone I don’t know very well. And yet, I must marry.”

“You still have time,” Ning said. “You’re only 18.”

“I’m already 18. If I don’t find a man soon…”

Ning thought for a moment. “Alright, I have an idea.” He turned over his palm and a small pair of spectacles appeared on his hand.

“Wear this,” Ning said.

Shara looked confused. She took the glasses and wore them. “What am I supposed to do with it?” she asked. “I don’t see anything different.”

Ning chuckled. “Go look at the mirror.”

Still confused, Shara stood and walked over to where the mirror was. When she reached the mirror, she gasped in surprise.

“I… I look different!” she shouted.

Shara’s entire attire had changed to make her look like the image of a regular peasant girl. Her hair was no longer an Empress’s hair, tied together by golden clips and fragrant oils; it was tied in a braid with a small ribbon.

Her clothes weren’t fancy any longer, and instead were drab with very basic design on them. Her face still looked the same, but her overall attire made her look so different.

Shara hurriedly took off her glasses and her entire features changed again, the regal hair and dress of an Empress returning to her. Placing the glasses back on, she returned to being a peasant girl.

Her eyes widened slightly. “Is this… how I used to look in the past?” she asked. It had only been three years and she had forgotten just how much she had changed.

Shara began tearing up.

“Use it,” Ning explained. “Go out and find someone that loves you for who you are. If you want to marry someone, marry him. You don’t need to find an Emperor who cares about the Empire, only a husband who cares about you. You alone do enough caring for the Empire.”

Shara smiled and gave Ning a hug. “Thank you.”

“It’s okay,” Ning said. “It’s a simple matter for me.”

Shara took off the glasses. “I’ll keep them safe.”

“Actually, keep them here.” He handed her a ring for her to wear, where she could store many things. He also added a few other things to the ring that he explained.

“How are you making all of this?” Shara asked.

“It’s my System,” Ning explained. “My original System. I had another one until earlier, but it was temporary.”

Shara simply nodded, despite not understanding anything at all.

“Say, you are married too, aren’t you?” she asked.

“Yes. I have a daughter too,” Ning explained.

“Where are they?” Shara asked.

“Close by,” Ning said. “Give me a few days, and I’ll get them to meet you.”

It took Ning a few days to return to his inner world and meet up with Ely and Emma to explain the situation. He spent a mere few minutes explaining the situation, but it took days for them to come back out.

Time moved at a drastically different rate in the two worlds.

Ely had finally come out of Earth in a long time. She looked around, taking in the fresh air.

“Weren’t you supposed to bring me out sooner? You only think about your daughter and no one else,” Ely said with a slight pout.

“I… have been busy,” Ning said with an apologetic look. “I had some issues with the System. I can take you places now.”

“You better.”

“I don’t really care about going to new places, papa,” Emma said. “But didn’t you promise me that you would add a new planet? When is that going to happen?”

Ning grimaced. “Soon,” he said. “I need to find the perfect one, after all. Not just any planet is worth it.”

Emma said nothing further.

Shara finally met up with Ely and Emma and was stunned by not just their beauty but also their presence.

“I am an Empress,” Shara said slowly, “So why do I want to bow down to you?”

Emma gave a small smile. “You’ll get used to it soon,” she said. “Or, maybe not.”

Ely and Shara chatted for a while, trying to get their part of the story. Ning remained by, explaining wherever he needed to. Emma was fascinated by Ning’s recent adventure, especially because he didn’t have the Energy System to help him at all.

“Why would the Creator want you to help make a mediocre system?” Emma asked.

“I do not know,” Ning said. “But since he did, I accept.”

Emma didn’t know what else to say.

Shara and Ely talked for a long while, and the conversation only ended because Shara needed to leave to fulfill her duties. However, rather than end, it would be put on a pause for them to continue later.

It was surprising how much the two women could talk. Weeks passed, and they still found something to chat about. The conversation, however, had long since moved on from Ning, so he didn’t need to stay around for them.

A month passed before Emma left the palace for the first time. She wanted to see more of this world, so she roamed the city with Ning and Ely, taking it all in.

Ning walked with her, hand in hand. A lot of the soldiers that were taught by Ning were surprised to see her with any woman. Much more, they were surprised to find that she was his wife, and that the young lady next to them was his daughter.

The news quickly spread, and soon no matter where Ning went, they would be recognized and constantly greeted. It was fun at first, but it quickly got annoying for all 3 of them.

“Let’s go to the other places,” Emma suggested.

Ning nodded. “I’ve recently traveled all throughout the continent, so let us go to the other continent,” he explained.

“Other continent?” Ely looked at her husband in surprise. “I thought the Onyx continent was the only one in this world. That’s what Shara told me.”

“That’s what everyone in this continent thinks, but there are 3 other continents, concentrated on the other side of the planet. Once they start sailing on big ships and come searching in this direction, they’ll find out just how much of the world they are missing.”

Ning teleported the three and arrived at the first of the three continents, and began roaming their land. The continents were slightly ahead of the Onyx empire, having discovered steam engines recently.

From what he could tell, it wouldn’t be long before someone there decided to put one of those steam engines onto a boat and go around the world. Surely, they would find the Onyx continent then.

Ely was fascinated by a world that was extremely different from both the cultivation worlds she was familiar with and the modern world that Earth had been when she was alive the previous time.

Earth had gone through a few different cataclysms, forcing people to change and adapt, but that had only moved them further away from technology, and more into accepting Qi and Mana as their main source of progress.

They traveled for months and months, crossing years, reaching every nook and corner of the continent. When they were done, they moved on to the next.

Ning returned every few weeks to a month in order to check on Shara and the rest, to help them if they needed it. He would sometimes stay around for months, letting the mother and daughter travel on their own.

More than a few times a week, Shara was sneaking out of the palace to go through the city, to see how her empire was doing from the eyes of someone living in it.

Ning had given the glasses for her to find a man for herself, but instead she was using it for the empire. He couldn’t help but laugh at that.

After the first few times, however, she had caught someone’s eyes. It was a young soldier, an orphan who had entered the army at a young age due to the war. He was just a few years older than her and seemed smitten with her.

Ning made sure to do a background check on the man to see if he was fit for her. He didn’t care about his status or his strength. He only cared for his morals and beliefs, and it appeared they were quite strong.

He was worthy. Now, it was up to Shara to make the decision.

After nearly 6 years of traveling to the other continent, Ning received Shara’s invitation. The entire continent did.

The Empress of the Golden Empire was finally marrying.

Ning, Ely, and Emma returned and helped Shara with her wedding, helping her prepare everything.

Shara had already revealed to the young soldier who she was, and after weeks of failing to believe, he had finally accepted who she was and decided to marry her.

And so, the wedding of the Empress took place.

It was a festive atmosphere throughout the empire, with people throughout the continent joining in on the celebration. Many spoke behind Shara’s back considering her choice of groom, but none could say it to her face, and could only swallow their words as they congratulated her.

Ely congratulated Shara by giving her a shield artifact that she had created herself, using her system. In this world, it worked without Qi.

Ning congratulated Shara by giving her and her husband a matching ring, perfect for couples, with various features that made their lives not just easier, but far superior.

Emma, however, did something that even Ning failed to do. She used her power that came from pure energy, and used it to turn Shara’s husband into a Reaper.

The wedding was over and everyone gave the new couple some time for themselves. A week later, when Shara finally returned to her duties, Ning told her what he was going to do next.

“Shara, I’m leaving.”

“Leaving? Where are you going?” she asked, not really concerned since Ning always came and went as he wanted.

“I’m leaving this world, forever,” he explained. “I won’t ever come back.”

Shara froze. “Oh…”

She had always known this day would come. This was why Ning hadn’t accepted his official title. But to think this would come so soon.

It had been 9 years since she first met Ning, closing in on 10. It was a decade they had spent together, a decade that was the most important decade in her life. He had been there for her when she needed him the most.

“When will you leave?” she asked.

“Tonight,” Ning explained.

“That’s so soon. Can’t you delay it?”

“I can,” Ning said. “But that’s only delaying the farewell. I’ve done all I needed to here, so it is time that I leave.”

Shara took a deep breath, keeping in her tears. “Alright. I’ll have a feast prepared for your departure.”

“No, no feast. Please.”

“But…” Shara said. “Okay, just a small gathering of friends then.”

“That’s much better.”

Later that night, in the gardens behind the palace, Shara brought over a few people to say their farewells to Ning.

Matthew and Mari came, along with their 3-year-old son and a newborn daughter. Romus arrived by himself despite having been married 2 years ago himself.

Shara was by herself as well.

Ning, Ely, and Emma were the ones being sent away, so they ate and drank through the evening until late at night. They reminisced, laughed about their past, cried about it too.

The night would be one to remember for the regular humans, but for Ning and his family, it would only be one of many.

But Ning would still remember it. Just like he remembered every single farewell.

“Here, I prepared this for all of you,” Ning said as he handed them some gift boxes. “I’ve left the instructions inside.”

They took it, deciding to open it later.

“And this,” Ning brought out a large box. “This is for your Empire.”

Shara held it and was surprised by its weight. She let it drop to the ground.

Ning simply smiled.

“Make good use of what I’ve given you, and live a happy and fulfilling life,” Ning said. “This is where we depart. Goodbye.”

Shara moved forward and gave Ning one last hug.

“Goodbye.”

Ning took the girls and got into a ship. Then, the ship flew away, leaving behind the people and planet of Grotia. He had his own life to live, his own story to write.

So he left behind the others to write their own stories as well.

Romus received a ring from Ning that allowed him to store away his corpses so that they never degraded.

Mari received a ring that would continuously supply her with spectral energy, so that she would never run out of her healing power.

Matthew received a ring that allowed him to see seconds into the future. As the Empress’s royal guard’s leader, he needed to be aware of every threat.

And as for Shara, she had already received everything she could want, so Ning left her various powerful rings to be handed down to her children.

The big gift for the empire was a large number of books that were filled with information that could help her empire. From improving methods of farming, to improved warfare; everything was written in those books.

Shara read through the books and started handing out the information in pieces so that her empire could improve. In just five years, the Golden Empire easily achieved what might have taken them 3 decades to do so.

By 10 years, they had improved so much thanks to Ning that they were ready when the people of the other continents arrived.

At first, the outsiders were welcomed as though they were friends, but those people were greedy. So they came to loot what they could from the Onyx Continent.

The Golden Empire, however, was prepared for them. Not only did they have an advantage in weapons, they also had tactics prepared even for naval warfare.

Shara prepared ships, readied armies, and did everything in her power to fight back the opposing force.

The other army made landfall on the Golhlog kingdom and soon took over the capital where the young king was slain. They began spreading from there, but Shara took her own army through the Bay of Terror, and managed to thwart them before they could get bigger.

She took over Golhlog, making it part of her own empire as it no longer had anyone else on the throne.

The opposition didn’t give up. They still came, sending waves and waves of army.

Instead of coming from the west, they came from the east next.

Shara sent her armies to aid Olvia, Marsh, and Lenes.

And soon, the world fell into a constant war.

Even as years passed and the war continued, Shara never failed. She slowly increased her own influence in her continent. When the kingdoms failed to keep back the invaders, she helped. When it was too late, she sent her entire army to defeat the invading force, and took over them, increasing her own influence.

She didn’t conquer them like the Conqueror had, but she expanded her empire nonetheless. Before anyone knew it, in just 25 years after becoming the Empress of a dying empire, Shara became the Empress of the entire continent, that she now named the Golden Empire.

At 40 years of age, Shara now had 2 sons and a daughter, all of whom were Reapers as well, all powerful and talented in their own regard.

All of her children would make their own names in history as well, but none would have a bigger page in history than Shara did.

They would remember her forever.

Shara the Unbeatable, Empress of the Golden Continent.
