Chapter 1662: The Earl Joins

Chapter 1662: The Earl Joins

Having found a new method of winning against the undead, Ning began throwing around a flurry of stabs, targeting just the visors of the helmet the corpses wore.

His attacks were as precise as a master calligrapher making strokes on a large piece of paper. Not a single attack Ning made touched the metal rim of the visor and always went straight into the eyes itself.

The people watched in awe as a single man fought 9 different fighters, each larger than him, wearing heavy armor and holding a large sword.

The way that Ning moved in between those attacks to deliver his strike was something straight out of a story for these people.

As Ning fought, more and more of the Corpses began being unable to see properly. They could only swing aimlessly, which was still annoying. He had to admit.

They were much less dangerous than before, though, so he could move away without worrying about them immediately attacking him.

There was one thing that Ning had wondered about since he began fighting. A single question that had failed to surface from the back of his mind as he was forced to focus entirely on the battle.

Who exactly was the Necromancer here?

He looked at the young Earl. Was he the Necromancer? Or was it the man who had been near the carriage this entire time and was now moving toward the Earl?

Now that Ning had the time to think, he gave it some thought. ‘One of them has to be an Overtaker too. That Spirit from earlier today had been theirs,’ he thought and saw the slight glimmer of white next to the man who was not the Earl.

‘Okay, that answers that question.’

He moved back slightly to dodge the incoming attack and created a barrier to protect himself from another one. He slipped past the two and they were lost swinging around, not knowing where he was.

They turned around only a few seconds later and began chasing after him.

Ning fought them for a bit, before making his way past them. He pointed at the Earl as he walked up to the line. “You must be the Necromancer. I wonder, if I kill you, will these corpses go back to being corpses, or will they continue to wander around but without any objectives?”

The Earl scoffed. “Des, bring me my sword,” he said. “I will kill this man myself.”

The man next to the young Earl nodded and quickly rushed to the carriage, pulling out a sheathed sword before bringing it back to the Earl.

The Earl grabbed the sword, dragging the spotless blade out of the sheath. The sword was truly one that would be carried around by nobilities. It just screamed gold coins.

“Des, go find the girl and bring her out. I will be done by then,” the Earl said.

“Leader, I cannot leave you out here by yourself. It’s dan-“

“Do what I tell you, soldier. Now go!”

The man named Des nodded and walked to the side, trying to go past Ning.

“You won’t go past me!” Ning said and moved his spear toward the man. Before the man could react, the Earl was already right next to him, slamming his spear away with his sword.

“Don’t let your attention wander. Your enemy here is me!”

Ning pulled back his spear, surprised at the Earl’s speed. He had dashed in between him and the other man so quickly that Ning had no time to even react to it.

The Earl swung his sword, the blade zipping past Ning, barely touching his chest. Ning moved back even further and put some distance between him and the Earl. With his spear, his reach was higher and thus it was better for him to stay further away.

He stabbed forward, reaching trying to hit the man around his waist where there was bound to be a gap in the armor. His outer armor was of a different variety than what the soldiers wore, so Ning would have to find an entirely new way to fight him.

That was if he could fight him.

The Earl moved, his image becoming a blur. He appeared past the stab and swung his sword right onto Ning’s shoulders.

Ning turned to the left, letting the sword fly right past him without touching him at all. But it was a close call. The sword strike itself wasn’t fast at all, but the man was.

Ning couldn’t tell what exactly he was doing, but he was swift and deadly.

‘A speedster? I’m not agile enough for this,’ Ning thought, pulling his spear back while trying to slice through the man’s hip while doing so.

The Earl seemed to realize what Ning was trying to do and put his sword to the side, not letting the spear come anywhere close to him.

Ning pulled the spear back fully and quickly created a barrier behind and in front of him. It was no different than creating two large circular walls on either side, protecting him none whatsoever from the sides.

If the man came from the side, he would be dead. He just hoped that he didn’t.

The Earl moved and suddenly slammed against the wall, hitting himself rather badly. He fell back on the ground, hitting the rough but firm earth.

“Urgh!” he cried out in pain, rolling on the ground.

Ning undid the two barriers and ran forward, trying to stab at the man, and yet he kept rolling away. He was rather slow when he rolled away as if suddenly losing his powers.

However, when he managed to catch his footing, he immediately disappeared from Ning’s sight, appearing somewhere far away.

Ning was taken aback at the man’s speed. ‘What happened?’ he thought, looking at the place where he had disappeared from. There was a strong impression of boot mark at that place.

‘He’s fast,’ Ning realized, ‘but only when he’s using his leg. Without his leg, he probably isn’t

that fast.’

If that was the case, there may just be a chance for him to win. seaʀᴄh thё nôᴠel Fire.nёt website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
