Chapter 1490 Travel to Midland
1490 Travel to Midland
Ning, Tim, and Jasmine got onto a car that left for the train station with Arya and her father following them in another car.
With the Emperor’s birthday tomorrow night, they had to leave right this morning if they wanted to make it in time.
Jacob was in the other car, most likely wondering how Ning had managed to get Zarius to agree to let him come to the party at all. It was too important of a party to allow anybody to come.
Ning certainly was someone with an important background, but even then it was too much of a risk to bring along people.
“So the Emperor, he is turning 100, right?” Tim asked. “Can people live that long?”
“Apparently this one does,” Ning answered.
“Have you seen him before?” Jasmine asked him from the side, extremely curious herself.
“As a matter of fact, no. I told you guys already, this is my first time in this country. I don’t even know much about the Royal family.”
“But you know almost everything, don’t you?” Tim asked. “You just know somehow, even when you shouldn’t.”
“Well… I can know if I choose to know. But I have chosen not to do that this time around,” Ning said.
“Then, can you find out?” Jasmine asked. “It would be better if I don’t accidentally say something to someone I shouldn’t.”
“Everyone there will be someone you can’t say something to without thinking about your place,” Ning reminded her. “And at the same time, say whatever you want to say. There will be no one who can stop you as long as I am around.”
Jasmine said nothing. She knew that to be the truth.
“Anyway, here is the information you want.”
“The current Emperor is Vixian Vol Morgiana II. The Empress is Salahan Guyadin. She is not the first Empress, but the 3rd one after the first two died of old age.”
“The Emperor had 3 sons and 4 daughters. The first son and the 2nd daughter are dead, the rest are alive with various ages to them.”
“The youngest one is a son at 45, the son of which is the one you met the other day, Prince Edward Vol Morgian III.”
“In total, the Emperor had around 19 grandchildren all around, and 26 great-grandchildren, the oldest of whom is already 25 years old.”
“With the Morgian empire being the largest empire in the continent, with many other surrounding countries and territories over their rule, there will most definitely be a lot of important people in this party.”
“It is a good thing we are going to this without breaking in. I would not have liked sneaking in.”
Jasmine didn’t believe him. “I bet you would have loved sneaking in.”
Ning smiled. “Maybe.”
“Such an important birthday,” Tim said. “I wonder how the Emperor survived for 100 years. Do you think he has a treasure to keep him alive that log?”
“We’ll see once we go there.”
Their car arrived at the small city with the train station, but instead of boarding a train, there was a ship waiting for them by the shore just a short distance away.
The ship was a very unassuming one, which looked more like a ship that was used by fishermen than anything. The men working on the ship also dressed like fishermen with many nets and harpoons lying around.
That was just on the outside though. It was a ruse to keep pirates and bad-intentioned people away.
Not only that, there was no better way for such an important person as Zarius to travel without wanting people to get curious about who was on that ship.
The inside of the ship was clean, with many working personnel, all on the payroll of the Eastwind trading company. Bright lights filled the inside of the ship, soft carpeted floors and brightly painted rooms giving a very different feeling.
Ning, Tim, and Jasmine were given separate rooms to stay in, which were in an entirely different section of the ship from where Zarius and Arya were staying.
“When will we arrive at Midland?” Ning asked Jacob before he left.
“Midland should be in about 7 hours, but we’ll be taking the route through river Ossin to the heart of the island where the party is. That… should take us about 18 hours.
“So we’ll arrive before dawn?” Ning asked. “Hopefully,” Jacob said and left.
Food was brought to their rooms some time later and Ning stayed in his room to eat. After some time of staying in his room, he got bored and walked out to go around the ship.
He arrived at the deck and saw the many guards working with ropes or net, doing nothing at all, but appearing as though they were doing something.
Ning looked around and was surprised to see Tim sitting on a bolted chair, with Arya next to him, laughing as they chatted about something. He smiled a bit after seeing that and ignored them afterward.
Ning stretched and walked toward the bow of the ship.
“You shouldn’t go there, sir. The winds are strong this time around,” one of the guards quickly said. “The edges are unstable. You should stay out.”
Ning could feel the bobbing of the ship and knew the man’s words to be true.
“Would we be faster if the wind were blowing in the opposite direction?” Ning asked the guard.
The guard looked at him weirdly. “Of… course,” he said. “The ship wouldn’t have to fight the wind and we could use our sails.”
“Good,” Ning said and turned toward Tim. “Tim! Wind is hampering our speed. Change its direction.”
People turned all around, confused at the sudden and ridiculous command. Arya turned to look at Ning, herself quite confused.
Tim simply stood up and nodded. He raised his hands and 2 seconds later, the winds completely stopped. Then, a second later, they began moving in the opposite direction, just as Ning had asked.
“Is that all?” Tim asked.
“That’s all. Thank you,” Ning said and turned around to go toward the bow of the ship.
