Chapter 250 Shark Attack
250 Shark Attack
All of a sudden, the shark quickly emerged from the mist and attacked us. With the combination of its massive body and speed, the momentum of its attack would surely be destructive. But…
“Too slow!”
I could not help but complain about the shark as we effortlessly jumped away from the deck. Soon after, a loud crashing noise reverberated in the room after the shark devoured the deck and bit nothing but the black stone slabs.
Since we jumped out of the deck, there would be no place for us to land but water. Unfortunately for the shark, we were not your average adventurer.
“”Flight. Aerial Maneuver.””
While in midair, my Sister and I uniformly cast Level 3 Force Magic spells to make ourselves fly above the water, and then I warped myself toward her. And then cast a Level 4 spell for more mobility and agility while flying.
After gnawing some stones, the shark found us floating in the air and stared at us before submerging itself into the sea. As if playing along with us, the shark eventually resurfaced itself, and what it did next brought both of us to widen our eyes.
“Really?” Big Sis gaped. “It’s flying now?”
“Well, it has Force Magic after all.”
Whoosh.
Before our eyes, the Gigalodon got out of the water and flew straight toward us. However, its flight speed was not so fast for us, so we casually moved aside and evaded that huge mouth with almost no effort.
After hitting a miss, the giant shark made a U-turn and drew near us anew. Same thing as before: the shark missed its targets again and crunched nothing but air.
Once it did a turn once again, the shark suddenly slowed its flight speed, and then it began channeling its mana within. Hereupon, two magic circles started to manifest in front of its pectoral fins, and the shark was about to launch its magic.
Swoosh.
The magic spell was cast in a matter of seconds, and two five-meter-long Level 5 Icicle Spears were now quickly firing at us. But the spears did not even reach half the speed of sound; hence, we were able to counter it easily.
Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching!
Using only pure swordsmanship coupled with speed, Big Sis and I immediately slashed our blades several times and shredded each of the frozen spears into countless smithereens, recreating a small hail storm below us.
Flop. Flop. Flop.
Seeing that its attack had miserably failed, the shark cast another spell again. A large magic circle appeared on the water below us, and then the sea suddenly and violently surged up to our hovering spot.
“A Waterspout, huh? Even though it is much smaller than Mom’s, it is not bad for its size.”
As I was bantering those words, the water furiously and quickly moved in circles, and then a huge tornado of water formed below us. The violent twister of water of the Level 6 spell then swallowed us whole. We intentionally got ourselves eaten since I had deployed an Anti-Magic Barrier beforehand.
Swoosh!
We were engulfed by the waterspout, but the spherical barrier blocked the water and effectively prevented us from getting wet. We were just chilling inside, and it felt like we were inside a washing machine.
A few seconds later, I sensed that the shark had moved forward toward us and attempted to chomp us whole again. In response, I quickly deployed another barrier, the Anti-Physical Barrier, and successfully stopped its gigantic teeth from touching our skin.
As it was biting the defensive sphere, the Gigalodon cast a spell and then sent the ball flying using the Level 4 Hydro Pulse, a spell that had a strong knockback effect.
“Woah.”
My Sister and I moved along with the barriers for several meters before I deactivated them and hovered once again in the air.
After that, the shark descended and brought itself back to the sea to take a breather. It only had resistance against suffocation, not invalidation, so it still needed some water running through its gills to stay alive.
“Hey, Sis. You want to reel the rod?”
“Hm? How about you? Didn’t you want something from it?”
What Big Sis meant was the shark’s skills, which I did not have yet. It was a good thing that she was concerned about me, but I really did not need any of them right now.
I mean, who the hell would like to have a skill that makes them stronger by just the metallic scent of blood but also makes them go berserk and lose their reason? It was more like a liability than an asset. But those were its racial skills, so I could consume them myself.
“Nah, I’m good. You can take it.”
“You said that yourself.”
In the middle of our chat, the shark slowly emerged with its dorsal fin as it soundlessly swam in circles below us. Thick mist then started to gather around it and obstructed our vision on it again.
“Hey, Sis.”
“What is it, Raphael.”
“Before you kill it, I want to do something that Mom did to the Imperial Dungeon Boss back then.”
“Alright, mama’s boy. Do whatever you want.”
Immediately afterwards, I activated the Perfect Concealment and a particular spell upon myself before I went to the mist. The shark’s Mist Radar could not perceive the Perfect Concealment, so it never noticed my descent as I successfully and safely set my foot on the tranquil surface.
Due to the spell that I cast on myself, Water Magic Level 4: Frost Tread, the water I landed on instantly became solid and turned ice like a certain enchantment in Minecraft. However, my intention was to have physical contact with the water before I cast the real deal.
“Okay.” After pouring out an incredible amount of mana, I then struck my scarlet blade into the ice. “World Magic Level 3… Ice Age.”
As soon as I cast the spell, a huge mass of magic around a hundred meters in diameter spread out a few meters above me. The moment the shark took heed of the magic flow around me, the magic circle burst, and my mana suddenly spread across the entire sea.
In almost an instant, the sea froze… And now it was covered with frigid ice hundreds of meters thick.
“Yosh. That wore me out a bit.”
I wiped my imaginary sweat off my forehead as I was looking for the results of my personal training with Mom. Like she did inside the Imperial Dungeon, I was successful in bringing out that terrifyingly powerful World Magic spell.
After scanning the frozen sea, I looked at the spot where the shark was and saw its large dorsal fin protruding above the sea, motionless. The frigid ice spread so suddenly that the shark forgot to react as its body was quickly immobilized by the solid ice, rendering it completely frozen.
I then turned around, looked up at Sister, and gave her a thumbs up with a flashing smile. She bobbed her head before she took a thrusting stance against the frozen fish. She launched herself at the shark at a tremendous rate and then completely struck her blade into the ice.
“Heavenly Strike!”
After consuming a large portion of her energy, her blade extended for several dozens of meters. The technique effortlessly broke through the ice and accurately penetrated the Gigalodon’s tough scales. The Heavenly Strike passed through the shark’s skull and brain and all the way to the other side.
From that alone, the 70th Floor Guardian died in the hands of my Sister.
