Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears
Chapter 842 Immortal Venerable Shi Xi Equals the Emperor of Non-Beginning? Start Looting Corpses!
Back on Blue Star, many people had warned Gu Yuexi that "those of a different race will surely harbor different motives." The target of their warnings, of course, was none other than Chu Sheng. But without exception, Gu Yuexi had ignored them all.
Chu Sheng didn’t dwell on the matter. It casually changed the subject and asked curiously, "I’m going to the Sea Monster Battlefield to increase my strength, but what are you going there for?"
Chu Sheng knew very well that Gu Yuexi would never do anything meaningless. Its own cultivation method was simple and brutal—just absorb, absorb, absorb. The battlefield, littered with corpses, was practically its paradise. However, Gu Yuexi’s cultivation method was the same as any other cultivator’s. Most of the time, she needed to meditate, regulate her breathing, and comprehend the Laws. Wandering around the Sea Monster Battlefield would at most give her a bit of combat experience. But as the reincarnation of Immortal Venerable Shi Xi, her combat experience was already maxed out. She didn’t need to rely on combat to improve her strength at all!
In the past, whenever Chu Sheng went to the Alien Race battlefield to "loot corpses" for gains, it had never brought Gu Yuexi along. There was simply no need; they could just mind their own business.
Hearing its question, Gu Yuexi gave a simple reply. "I obtained a Cultivation Technique from Immortal Venerable Shi Xi’s inherited memories that can enhance my strength during combat."
Chu Sheng froze, nearly tumbling off Gu Yuexi’s shoulder. Had it not known her character so well—knowing that she absolutely disdained lying—it would have assumed she had activated a system as well! Otherwise... where in the world was there a Cultivation Technique that could directly increase one’s strength just by fighting?! Wasn’t that supposed to be an exclusive function of a system?!
Chu Sheng suddenly recalled how terrified the Elders of the Eight Great Clans looked earlier when they saw the Twelve Ancestral Witch Gods. It was as if they had run into their natural predator, not even daring to probe the statues to see if they were real or fake.
"No wonder the Elders of the Eight Great Clans all fled in panic the moment I took out the Twelve Ancestral Witch Gods," Chu Sheng muttered to itself. "Each one ran faster than a rabbit.
"It seems Immortal Venerable Shi Xi’s prestige is probably on par with the Emperor of Non-Beginning. They are both ruthless figures capable of suppressing an entire era.
"For such a badass existence to create a Cultivation Technique comparable to a system is actually quite normal."
Listening to its muttering, Gu Yuexi suddenly asked, "Who is the Emperor of Non-Beginning?"
Chu Sheng waved a front leg and explained casually, "A character written in a novel. He’s pretty powerful."
Gu Yuexi frowned slightly and asked again, "What is a novel?"
Chu Sheng thought for a moment and found an analogy using something that existed in the Spirit Realm. "You can think of it as a scriptbook—a book that tells stories."
Gu Yuexi nodded. Having little interest in the matter, she didn’t pursue it any further.
Just then, faint shouts of killing and explosions echoed from a distance, shaking the air with subtle tremors. The metallic tang of blood mingled with the briny scent of the sea, drifting over on the wind.
"We’re here," Chu Sheng said, flying up from Gu Yuexi’s shoulder. Its body instantly expanded to two meters long as it hovered by her side. It raised a front leg over its compound eyes and gazed into the distance. "Is this the third line of defense? Looks like they’re fighting pretty fiercely."
Gu Yuexi nodded, her gaze fixed on the depths of the battlefield. "According to Huo Lang’s description, this should be the place."
Chu Sheng rested a front leg on Gu Yuexi’s shoulder while spreading its Boundless Wings. Instantly, the surrounding space fluctuated violently.
"Let’s go check out the situation first and find an empty spot to make our move," Chu Sheng said.
With that, the person and the mosquito vanished from their spot simultaneously.
When they reappeared, they were already at the edge of the battlefield a hundred miles away, standing next to a large tree. Chu Sheng perched on a branch, surveying the battlefield.
Densely packed Sea Demons surged like a tide, relentlessly crashing against the Human Race’s third line of defense.
Some Sea Demons were covered in silver-blue scales with wet black hair. They possessed muscular human upper bodies and powerful fish tails, wielding various bone weapons. Others had dark green hair and pale, bluish-white skin with golden slit pupils. They had fine gills on the sides of their necks and dark cyan scales covering their fish tails, making them look utterly ferocious. Still, others appeared delicate and fragile, yet their attacks were exceptionally ruthless; a single swipe of their claws could shred the defenses of a Human Race Cultivator.
There was a massive variety of appearances. To describe them as grotesque and bizarre would be perfectly fitting.
"No wonder they are collectively called Sea Demons." Chu Sheng clicked its tongue in amazement. "If we were to subcategorize and name every single Race, there would definitely be more of them than the ethnic groups on Blue Star! Who could possibly remember them all!"
Gu Yuexi nodded in agreement. She then recounted the information regarding the Sea Race from Immortal Venerable Shi Xi’s memories.
"In the Southern Sea Region, there are three major Sea Races: the Merfolk Race, the Dragon Race, and the Sea Demon Race," she explained. "Strictly speaking, the Merfolk Race and the Dragon Race can also be considered branches of the Sea Demon Race.
"However, the Merfolk have intellect on par with humans. They have their own communities and order, and refuse to be lumped together with savage Sea Demons.
"The Dragon Race is proud by nature and disdains any association with ordinary Sea Demons, feeling it beneath their dignity.
"The remaining hodgepodge of Sea Races banded together to form the current Sea Demon Race, frequently coming ashore to pillage. This is why there are so many types of Sea Demons with highly uneven levels of strength.
"But..." Gu Yuexi paused, a look of bewilderment crossing her face. "Why do the Sea Demons frequently attack the Human Race on land?
"Although they can survive on land for short periods, they cannot maintain it for too long. Plus, their strength drops significantly if they are away from water for extended periods. Even if they occupy human territories, they can’t garrison them long-term.
"What exactly are they after?"
Chu Sheng waved a front leg, looking utterly indifferent. "Who cares what they’re after? They’re free experience packs delivered right to our door. It’d be a waste not to take them."
With a flap of its wings, it used Instant Teleportation to appear next to a Sea Demon corpse not far away.
In life, this Sea Demon’s Cultivation should have been at the Fifth Layer of the Divinity Transformation Realm. Its scales still gleamed, indicating it hadn’t been dead for long. Such strength would undoubtedly make it a destruction-level ultimate boss on the Alien Race battlefield of Blue Star. Yet, on the main battlefield of the Spirit Realm, it could only serve as Low Level cannon fodder, left uncollected by its comrades after death.
Chu Sheng raised a front leg and swiped. The Sea Demon corpse on the ground vanished instantly.

"That’s it? How pathetic." Chu Sheng paused, a bit disgusted. It hadn’t expected these Sea Demons to look so bulky, only to provide such a measly amount of Essence of Origin.
"Forget it. Every little bit helps. It’d be a waste not to take it." Not being too picky, it called out a greeting to Gu Yuexi and began darting rapidly along the edge of the battlefield, specifically targeting unnoticed corpses to harvest back and forth.

[Ding! Successfully recovered one Sea Demon Race (Void Refinement Realm) corpse. Essence of Origin +50 points.]
[Ding! Successfully recovered one Sea Demon Race (Integration Realm) corpse. Essence of Origin +100 points.]
The system’s notifications chimed continuously in its mind. Its Essence of Origin points skyrocketed.
However, the battlefield was simply too chaotic. Chu Sheng had only absorbed a little over thirty Sea Demon corpses before it caught the eye of an Integration Realm Sea Demon.
